  1. I'm afraid you are correct. Suddenly it won't be such a "team game".
  2. OK early November. Whenever the week after the Pats night game was; and I probably wouldn't have thrown him to the wolves at the end of that game.
  3. The only mistake was not getting him in the lineup sooner last year when it was obvious we were going nowhere. Some of us "non-Bills fans" advocated this in October.
  4. I love how the internet is filled with 'tough guy' opinions like this. What are you trying to prove? How hot your girlfriend/wife is? If you met her in person you'd be on your knees kissing her feet within seconds.
  5. I guess I just think it's extremely bad karma that Buffalo fans - of all people - are taking it for granted that they're going to be the best in the league again after 1 good year and sucking for so many years prior. I realize we had a different coach and different personnel, but still, it's an unpredictable facet of the game from year-to-year. Not saying they're going to suck, but IMO people are going to be disappointed if they expect last year to be matched. I mean, how many great returns did Dante Hall have last year after his freakish 2003 season? Then again, if there's such a thing as 'karma' in football, how the hell do the Patriots keep winning?
  6. We may not be far behind on offense, but based on pts given up last year, they're not far behind on defense either, and they're young. Plus their OL is lightyears ahead of ours. Agreed on Herm being questionable and agreed on Martin probably not duplicating last year. Of course, I doubt our special teams will duplicate last year either.
  7. I think for the most part, a basketball series is over if the road team doesn't win 1 of the first 2 in the 2-3-2 format. Until the Pistons did it last year, nobody had ever swept the middle 3 games at home. That's tough enough - and even if you do that - you still have to close out the other team at their place. Tough deal. I think I'd like the Spurs chances even if they had lost last night.
  8. As soon as they got rid of Moss I thought "Ewing Theory". The only problem is that too many people are picking them to be good, which worries me. Still, I look for them and the Eagles to be the class of the conference. AFC Pats - duh Colts - semi-duh Ravens - still too soon to call Boehler a bust IMO. He's got a proven WR this year, and with a healthy Lewis/Heap I'd be surprised if they don't win the North. Jets - If Martin doesn't get old overnight, they're going to be a tough out. I thought their defense overachieved last year and I kept waiting for them to come down to earth at the end of the year, but it never happened. The fact that they're relatively young doesn't give me any reason to believe they won't be good again. That's my top 4. There are probably a half dozen other teams that I could make a case to be included in the next 2 spots. I think Houston & Cincy could be legitimate "up & comers". Jax & KC I think will disapoint those who consider them "sleepers".
  9. Mmmmm.....Pat's Lorenzo's....meh Where do your friends live? I think something at McFadden's would be cool. The current place is kinda far outside the city.
  10. Hopefully he'll be paired with Coy Wire next year.
  11. Hey, we've all made dumb predictions. Re: Elway, people always want to give Terrell Davis credit for those SB's. What puts Elway over the top in my eyes (besides the fact those 97/98 Bronco teams having arguably the worst championship defense in NFL history, which nobody ever seems to mention) is the fact that he carried a mediocre team without a running game to the SB 3 times before he won one. Forget about Bledsoe - Marino didn't do that with a similar supporting cast, and yet many compare him favorably to Elway. It's almost like those 2 SB wins hurt his legacy if that's possible.
  12. Hey - I like Dunkin' Donuts coffee but not their donuts. If somebody says their donuts suck, I'm not going to include 2 paragraphs in my response defending their donuts. That's all I'm saying - I'm not going to argue semantics any further. If you like the mag's, great - it's no skin off my back.
  13. Perhaps I'm missing something, but it sounds like you unwittingly agree with Liss. Basically, he's saying that the popular 'slippery slope' argument is stupid. I tend to agree. The same type of arguments are used re: drugs all the time. "If we legalize marijuana, then we won't know where to draw the line and the next day murder might be legal!". Conservatives love the Slippery Slope argument. I'm right of center and I think it's pretty lame most of the time.
  14. I will co-sign that.
  15. I don't understand this implication that I took anything out of context. Was he not defending horribly innacurate predictions?
  16. The year after the 1st time Jordan retired, the Bulls won 55 games with BJ Armstrong, Toni Kukoc, Bill Cartwright, Scott Williams, Steve Kerr, Luc Longley and Bill Wennington logging significant minutes; and could've easily been in the Finals if not for one of the worst calls in NBA history. Pippen/Jackson bashers have apparantly decided to pretend that this season never happened.
  17. I think there's some middle ground between 100% and 25% (they almost never pick half of the division winners). The reason for this is that their predictions are usually just the previous year's standings. It doesn't mean anybody else could do any better, but it DOES make them pretty much worthless, as in not worth $5.
  18. Are you saying that a female is more likely to draw backlash & get fired for such a sexual comment? You must be joking.
  19. Honestly, I've never really been to Buffalo other than for Bills games. Grew up in Syracuse, went to school in Rochester. Made some trips to Canada but never thought to hang out in Buffalo. I personally don't care about weather. People's reactions to the weather, the overall ability of people to adapt to driving, and the efficiency of plows is a hell of a lot more imprtant than raw numbers. After being in Philly for a couple of years, I realize that upstate NY handles a foot of snow better than the pantywaists down here react when there's a half an inch. I can barely get to work when it's raining. I don't know if I could deal with people calling soda "pop" though.
  20. Me too. I'm almost ready to move there now (seriously). If only there were jobs......
  21. How do you pee out of your vagina if you're on your knees?
  22. You mean Jake Plummer hasn't won the last two MVP's?
  23. The Miami Sunday night game was easily one of the worst offensive performances I've ever seen. To blame it on one playcall is absurd. The only reason they even had the ball near the goaline was because of a fumble recovery. Travis did not play the Philly game, but their defense was also missing 3/4 of their starting secondary, and our passing game was still non-existent. The defense certainly didn't play their best, but not horrible either considering the refs gave the Eagles about 10 points that day. As Bado pointed out, the running game was crap even in the blowouts vs. NE & Jax.
  24. Good post - I agree with everything except.... Peerless wasn't more valuable than those defensive additions, despite our superior record in '02 compared to '03. I think it's safe to say that our offensive production in the 1st half of 2002 was a fluke. Bledsoe was temporarily rejuvinated, and it took defenses a few games to figure out the blueprint for stopping Gilbride's stubborn gameplans. How else do you explain the offense tanking the 2nd half of the season, and Bledsoe/Price sucking ever since? As Krazykat said though - the fact that JJ & PW may have been overpaid doesn't mean that their replacements are going to be as good. These comments about PW being too old are a bit absurd. If we had kept him and cut Sam Adams, they would be saying just the opposite.
