  1. I agree that the pass rush sucked and should share lots of the blame. I'm not sure what happened to Clements towards the end of the year, but he's a better player than what he showed. Vincent I think can be ok even though he's a step slow, he did make plays once in a while. The biggest letdown for me regarding the secondary was Milloy's inability to tackle anyone - I don't think we'd be losing much with Baker in there.
  2. What does this have to do with gameday decisions? OMG he called a pass on 1st down.
  3. And he lost the only 2 home playoff games in franchise history, one of which included getting badly outcoached by Wade Phillips. And I've mentioned this before, but he is a dreadful gameday coach. Mularkey wasn't half bad in that department, whether you guys want to admit it or not.
  4. Why wouldn't they let him go? They're bringing in a new HC. There shouldn't be that much of a shortage in DC's out there. Even if we don't get Bates, Donnie Henderson is looking for a job, because he's out in NY, and Herm is apparantly retaining Gunther Cunningham in KC. I thought Henderson did a pretty good job w/ the Jets.
  5. We can't even get the show right. Mike & some kind of dog.
  6. How gay are Steeler fans? Didn't they win the game?
  7. Yep, even in 98/99 when the Bills were getting hosed, it was "scoreboard - end of discussion". Who decided it was PC to blame the refs all of the sudden? Guys on ESPN wouldn't dare dwell on bad calls 5 years ago. Now that's all they can talk about. What's with this notion that bad officiating is something new?
  8. See, I think this is ridiculous. For one thing, our OL sucks across the board and reaching for 1 OLman in the 1st round who isn't as good of an overall player isn't going to yield the most value, nor will it make us a better football team, short or long term. Secondly, our DE's suck. I know our DT's aren't good either but damnit I want an impact gamebreaker who can get to the QB so we don't have to blitz on every play (you can piss & moan about Gray if you want to but when we rush 4 the opposing QB has 15 seconds to throw). I have noticed teams blocking Kelsay with their TE, which allows our DT's to get doubled. I've heard Merril Hodge point out how we've been pounded on the edges with the run with our undersized ends as well, and he actually watches tape.
  9. Yeah, I don't really pretend to know anything about it. I think it's funny how most people rip Mel Kiper when they wouldn't have heard of most of these players if it weren't for guys like him; and they're basically just reciting his opinion most of the time anyway and passing it off as their own. I bet there aren't a half dozen people here who have seen him play more than once.
  10. Ha - thanks. I confess I did not know that. I just figured he was making up his own slang
  11. I don't see how we can't take a DE. How much better is the NC St. guy than everybody else?
  12. You haven't heard/seen he's a liability in coverage?
  13. Because nothing is ever the players' fault. We got destroyed by 28 pts at home vs. our biggest rival because of playcalling, didn't you hear?
  14. I say they just bring in every ex coach from the NFC Norse... Marty Morningwhig anybody?
  15. I honestly don't know who this Bates guy is, but I do know that he hasn't been the DC in GB for very long if that's who he is. Ed Donatell who is in Atlanta now was the DC and fired after the 4th&26 play vs. Philly in the playoffs. The Packer defense did overachieve this past year I thought. Edit: oh yeah, the Dolphins interim guy. Another thing about that Philly game I remember is Sherman punting on 4th&1 in Eagle territory when a 1st down would've clinched the game and Ahman Green had 200 yards rushing.
  16. Saban probably did one of the more overrated coaching jobs in recent memory this year. Other than 2003 Miami has been a pain in the ass at home in September every freaking year since the inception of the franchise. Nice win in SanDiego and that was about it. They were 2 plays away from getting swept by the Bills & Jets at home. This isn't to say he can't be a good coach, but this notion that he's another Bellicheck is way premature. The Jets cap is a mess as mentioned previously. These concerns are a bit unfounded IMO. My biggest concern is the Bills sucking...again.
  17. His yearbook column was a classic. I prefer: "(Insert name) was the best lover I ever had" - Name of hot cheerleader chick
  18. I didn't know where else to post this, but I just read on ESPN that Mangini wants to hire Mike Sheppard as his OC and the Raiders DC? Sounds good to me - the Jets already have 2 good assistants in Henderson & Hemreindinger and apparantly they're not getting retained .
  19. I dunno - it's tough to say how good Saunders was with Vermeil there in KC. I know he was the head guy in San Diego for a while and a friend I repsect very much out there says he's a decent X's & O's guy but pretty bad at everything else. You'd also have to think there's a reason KC wanted no part of him even though Vermeil campaigned for him. In any case I don't think I'll lose sleep over missing out on Childress & McCarthy. Why is Peyton off the board?
  20. Good, better than Price, legit #1 Dominate a game? I wouldn't go that far, there's really only about 3 guys who can do that from the WR position.
  21. Agreed - I don't know about #4 but there's no way Vanderchoke is worth any extra cash. If anybody remember he also choked in OT vs. Miami in the playoffs - so he doesn't make kicks that matter.
  22. Me too - this thread is dumb.
  23. I didn't mean to be a prick before, it's just that the Bellicheck thing has been posted thousands of times, and nyghetwhatever was correct that he was the exception. For every BB there is Pete Carroll, Rich Kotite, and Dom Capers all sucked in both stints. Parcells is a horrible example having gone 10-6 two out of three years after three straight 5-11 seasons by Dallas before he got there. KC was also terrible before Vermeil's arrival and not many teams have won more games over the course of the last three years.
  24. Agreed, people want to run a 3-4? With what? Our DE's are undersized for the 4-3.
