Rex said he was "excused" for personal reasons. That means the team has sanctioned his absence. He is not AWOL and it won't mean anything.
He also said he didnt know where he was
Didnt you find that a bit odd?
-
if percy is awol wouldnt that potentially void his contract? i woldn't think even percy's questionable past actions would indicate giving up that kind of bank
Pooj....thought I read something about that today....they are saying "personal reasons" not injury
I think that is going to mean something.
-
Would love to have him here - he can teach Sissy Watkins how to be a man and play ball.
God you are so right
Like when he played through last season with cracked ribs?
or
He he missed like 2 games for a calf which is serious for a WR
and then god forbid....he needs to man the F up and play with a injured ankle
THese are LOWER BODY INJURIES......wide receivers dont play through those

Oh come on! There a ton of people who believe that Marrone "ruined" a young EJ just by whispering the words "don't mess up" to him and by fixing on him with some sort of evil glare.
What if Marrone catches EJ's eye and fixes that glare on him, and mouths those words? I see trouble....
Yeah trouble as in EJ might accidentally hit Marrone in the nuts with the football
Lets not forget here.....there might be a bit of motivation for EJ to beat the jags as well

There should be nothing wrong with our run game with Shady and Boom Herron
Lets see if our OL coach being back can get these guys straightened out
-
The Buffalo Bills are too undisciplined, have too many penalties, and have way too many injuries to key players, too early in the season.
Reason: Incompetent Head Coach Rex Ryan.
The third item on your list has nothing to do with the coach
Get a fricken clue

I'm very concerned about this game. The Jags are not going to go 1-15--they will win 3 or 4. If you look at their schedule, I have to believe that they have to see this as one of their more inviting match-ups. The Bills are decimated, and talent-wise I'd have to say that for this game at least, the Jags may actually be superior overall.
If the Bills turn the ball over multiple times, they will lose. The talent can't overcome that.
I think they CAN win of course, but a loss will basically end the season for the Bills. 9-7 isn't going to get it done, and if the Bills lose they will have to go 7-2 the rest of the way, with 5 of those 9 games on the road. One is already an automatic loss (New England), and there some other difficult matchups as well. I just don't see 7-2 happening.
our D needs to step up big time this game........they are certainly capable of it

Just gotta find a way to get the W headed into the bye week
gotta have it
-
I will tell you what.....I respect the hell out of Rex for doing this
RG III anyone?
The usuall diagnosis for an MCL is 3-4 weeks.......we limped through the cinci game......you keep him out this week.....then you have the bye
You have a healthy Tyrod Taylor coming out of the bye because you were SMART
You march him out there against the jags and something bad happens......you are looking at EJ at QB for not just after the bye but for weeks AFTER the Bye.
-
Yikes
Well.....we wont be needing to worry about finding cap room to sign Percy.
I still dont feel like we lost anyone in free agency due to to signing Harvin BUT we sure did pay a hefty price for a player for 5 games
-
I personally think Robert Woods is simply not being used in this offense with all the other weapons
With Percy's impending doom......I look for Woods to become visible again
-
A lot of other people will cover other aspects of this but I am going to say why I THINK Rex is even doing it in the first place
- Rex is not used to having the talent in the front 4 that this team has.......
- Therefore...on past teams he has even made Aaron Maybin somewhat servicable.....he knows how to make players that are not great work in a system
- Also.....a lot of people might question why this team is not at least as good as Pettine's D......well....Pettines D was all about sacks and stopping the run was secondary to him....and it actually shows on the Browns as well....Rex DOES care about stopping the run and it shows in his D
- Rex needs to trust his down linemen a little more......he needs to simplify it......and OCCASIONALLY do his exotic stuff.......the exotic stuff should not be the bread and butter of the defense because it doesnt need to be.
- He is tryng to confuse QBs....what he doesnt not realize (but I feel that he will) that knocking a QB on their ass every play works much better then trying to create confusion. Just like Jim Kelly said

I am going to go out on a limb and disagree with your assertion that Shady is going to be all-pro this season.
Or ever as a Buffalo Bill.
Or ever again.
For any team.
But we couldn't have known that or seen any decline there, right?
But we knew Kiko would be inactive much of this season in Philly due to a different ligament injury.
We just knew that because, you know, he didn't play every single defensive snap as a rookie and hadn't recovered from an ACL tear years earlier and string together some outstanding seasons.
I really did not expect kiko to get injured.....I thought what might happen is he might not be the same player after the injury that kept him out all of LAST season....but I expected (and still expect) Kiko to be a fine player
I think it is way to early to make these predictions on Shady....no he will not be a all pro player this year....but he has been relatively healthy over his career and there is a good chance he is right back to form next season.....ESPECIALLY if we get our OL figured out
-
It was concerning that he was often the only actual LB on the second level of the field.....Hughes/Lawson and Mario were basically pass rushers almost all the time.
It got to the point where he was clearly having to guess to have a good chance of being in position to cover 4 gaps he was responsible for.
The situation was becoming ridiculous late in the year.
Bradham not being able to handle the responsibilities was a huge problem that year.
It was expected that he was going to make a big step up.
Dumbing down with Schwartz created Nigel......who then made one of my all-time favorite tackles when he slammed the Jets RB Ivory to the ground by his lady locks.
This team needs to get back to dumbed-down defense.......Rex D is not only ineffective at keeping teams off the scoreboard it is also boring as f*ck.....unless you live to watch ONLY the two boundary corners play man up.
I am just not understanding the reasoning behind it.....last years team was still effective against the run AND you got the sense that they were going to dominate every play
Is it because they dont trust their safeties? THat is a possibility. I think that Gilmroe and Darby have shown that they can lock down at corner.......
WHile I want to see offensive linemen drafted in this next draft....it would not shock me at all if our 1st pick this next draft is a safety
-
I thought Kiko was EXTREMELY talented......he was a very good cover linebacker and gave QBs fits
however
THere was something about his play (at MLB) that was starting to really concern me in the latter part of the season.....I mostly attibuted it to a rookie who was not used to a 16 game NFL season......starting to overpursue.....starting to not be able to get off blocks
Then the Knee injury
I would like to a have a Kiko Alonzo type linebacker on this team right now....(although I think we might have one in Randal Johnson....he is playing on special teams I hope he starts getting more playing time eventually)
-
Not in the least actually. Jags are one of the worst teams in the league and the worst for Net points for/against. TT or EJ shouldn't have to run against this team to score points even without Sammy and Harvin.
Im with Wiz here.....I think we can beat the jags with EJ
If its a difference of playing a TT and he is not really healthy to go or playing EJ and having a 100 percent TT coming out of the bye
Then play EJ
-
I thought I heard the knee that he sprained was not the knee he uses to plant. I don't have confirmation of this but if true, it will be an easier injury for a QB to play with.
It's not uncommon for a QB - even one that runs a lot - to play with a grade 1 to 2 sprained MCL. JT Barrett played with one last year and he runs a ton. It really just depends on the player and nature of the injury. The trainers will not let him play if he isn't ready. It isn't his decision. He wanted to play last week, but they said no. I do not think it has anything to do with him being worried about his starting job. He is the starting QB and wants to play, period.
As a starting QB you NEVER willingly take yourself off the field because you might not get back on
however
In this case....I think the bills need to be really smart.....in my opinion it does not matter if it is not his plant foot there is still an imbalance and I think that is EXACTLY what happened to Sammy Watkins this past week......he was not playing at 100 percent......and it caused an imbalance to his lower body.....and boom....gets injuried at another body part.
With a qb who's greatest attribute is being one of the best athletes on the field....you gotta protect that player from HIMSELF if you want him to be out there long term.
If he is not ready to play....he should not play against the jags. The game is going to be determined by how the defense plays anyways.
-
I personaly think what has happened is Rex is so used to not having teams with this much talent that his multiple exotic blitzes actually kept his past defenses good with less talent
now he comes to this team.....where the strength of it is generating pressure with just the down linemen and he doesnt know how to handle it at first
What he needs to do.....is create pressure with his front 4......drop his LBs and secondary into coverage.......and OCCASIONALLY send a extra bltzer and time it right
-
Jets will be 10-5 worst coming into Buffalo in the final week. If the Bills don't sweep them, playoffs will probably be impossible for us yet again.
Can I borrow your crystal ball when your done with it?
-
All I know....is if im a qb and I see Mario Williams and Marcel dropping into coverage......I breath a sigh of relief and get comfortable really fast
That should be one of those waaaaay out of the ordinary plays that you throw out there just to keep it on tape. Our secondary is pretty good sans safety.......
DO WHAT WE ARE GOOD AT.....DONT OVERTHINK THINGS
-
The single biggest thing that is driving me nuts is penalties
It slows things down
It drives moral down
It makes players play tentatively
It negates positive plays

Listening to WGR the last couple of days has led me to believe that had been told than any criticism of the Bills will lead to them losing their broadcast contract at the next renewal.
Here are just a few of the comments/excuses they keep going with:
- Our losses are all to elite QBs, meaning Eli and Dalton have been elevated to elite.
- non-stop whining about the referees
- non-stop whing about injuries.
- discussion about how good the defense looked against the titans.
- Shutting down callers that pointed out the Eagles trashed the Eli led Giants
- Shutting down callers comparing the dolphins performance against the titans to the Bills
- Shutting down callers who suggest that the Falcons and Jets don't seem to be suffering "growing pains" from regime change.
- Claiming any disappointmentss in the performance so far are just a result of overly ambitious expectations.
Three and three isn't a disaster and I am not in the camp calling for firing anyone. But the team has been underwhelming and two games out of second place in the loss column in the division in week 6 is pretty disappointing.
Maybe the problem is you
as a matter of fact I am 98 percent sure the problem is you

Lets see if Kujo actually gives that RT spot back now that he is playing
-
Does Whaley know who he's shopping for or are these groceries for himself?
Well now lets discuss that for a second
As anyone knows who does any kind of research on Rex Ryan's defenses.......shut down corners are what makes his defense work (and yes.....while they are going through some issues right now it would be HORRIBLE without good corners)
So Whaley with a late second round pick no less drafts Darby.....then pullsy John Miller (who is a starter) and Karlos WIlliams (who looked great before concussion protocol)
Yeah......I would say that Whaley knows who he is shopping for.....ALL of these players fit into what Rex is trying to do.
In hindsight, was Kiko Alonso more useful that we thought?
