Despite all the doom and gloom for this season, we do have some exciting young guys coming up to lead in the future. Let's face it, Drew is riding off into the sunset. He's just hanging onto the starting role for another couple weeks and then the reality of having to groom the next QB will take over. Even the guys on ESPN radio agree. You can't do what Cincinnati did with Carson Palmer and expect to be successful. If you have a young QB and he's the future, you need to get him playing time in his first year...otherwise you end up starting a completely raw 2nd year guy and it sets you back another full season.

As a continuation from this post earlier in the week.....Um...I guess you can throw in another game in which Drew failed to lead a 4th qtr comeback win. Yes, I know. This time the D blew it. But still, 51 seconds left, ball on the 35 and he takes yet another sack to kill 23 seconds? oy vey. Pennington would have gotten the Jets a FG attempt if the situation was reversed.
-
Don't even start to judge Mularkey until he has a QB to work with that has a two dimentional game. No coach could win with Drew right now. He's too easy to defend.
-
seven or eight consecutive Drives that ended with a punt are not acceptable. Drew once again, played just well enough at the end to keep his starting job and lose every week.
-
If you watch Warner, he is not totally immobile. He's "Tom Brady" Mobile which makes him look like a gazelle compared to Drew. He also knows how to sidestep the rush and buy the extra second or two.
-
I have Sunday ticket and I agree with you. I try to watch as many games as possible. I'm not letting our D off the hook today but again, our QB is the conductor out there and the team matches his style. He is slow, plodding, methodical, boring and one dimentional.
Watching average joe's like Brees, McCown, Rattay, Carr, etc.. elude trouble and make plays when their pocket collapses is exciting. Watching the Bills is painful.
-
A shutout might actually result in some drastic changes on O that we need to see.
-
I'm not letting this post die. The team has taken on the personality of Drew. Slow, methodical, boring, passive, plodding, etc...
It's not all Drew's fault vs. the Jets today. I know that. But you can't change 10 guys, it's easier to change it up with one guy. SOmething needs to happen at the QB position and Soon. Our Fans, our Defense deserve better.

Roethlisberger is proving again today that he won't be a good NFL QB, he's going to be a great QB. Was anyone else besides me screaming for the BIlls to trade up and draft him? I hope JP works out, I really do. But I had Big Ben rated as the #1 pick in the whole draft.

QB's need to make plays folks. Bledsoe makes the play (most of the time) when there's no pressure or he has a great pocket. When the pressure is on though, he caves and makes nothing out of nothing. When you have an offense that is run oriented like the BIlls, you have to be especially good at 3rd-down conversions. Once we get to 3rd-down, our opponent brings the house and it's all over. I expect Drew to lead us to at least a couple wins this year but over the course of 16 games, he's really a 5-11 type of QB nowadays.

I'm too tired to argue but ok, here we go. QB's get credit for late game comebacks even when they don't necessarily deserve it. Other guys make plays too. Elway no doubt had plenty of help in his heyday. That being said, QB's also take the fall when they are unable to mount a comeback late in the game even when some stuff is out of their control. I expect better out of a vetran QB. These games were lost when Drew had the ball at the end. I won't even list all the games that the Bills lost just because of plain old inept offense (in which Drew was a major contributor).
2004
New England - loss 31-17 no 4th qtr comeback. TD to tie results in a 14 point loss.
@ Oakland- loss 13-10 no 4th qtr comeback- no offense period. Drew was off target much of the day. late TD too little too late
2003
Indianapolis - loss 17-14 Captain comeback Drew throws int on the Indy 40 with over a minute to go.
@ Dallas- loss 10-6 Bills had the ball late two times....no 4th qtr comeback. Drew loses two fumbles, sacked several times.
Houston- loss 12-10 Drew had chances late. terrible game. No 4th qtr comeback AGAIN! outdone by journeyman QB Tony Banks after Carr got hurt.
2002
@ Green Bay -loss 10-0 had to throw this one in since Drew had a miserable game (3 int's and 4 fumbles-2 lost). two of his turnovers deep in GB territory when the BIlls could have taken the lead.
@ Kansas City- loss 17-16 last drive of the game results in an interception thrown by Drew. no 4th qtr comeback.

Bledsoe is not a winner anymore. I don't know how many times that has to be hammered into the heads of Bills Nation? It's over for him. I know for darn sure that Mike Mularkey is not going to have his head coaching legacy be destroyed by a QB that can't make plays under pressure. How many times do we have to watch Drew fail to lead the 4th Qtr comeback?!? He is the king of failed 4th Qtr comebacks period! I will not start judging Mularkey until Drew is replaced. We hear the spin doctors here talk about how Drew is still good....that the problem is with the line, the WR's. the RB's , the coaching, etc... That's garbage. I'm listening to an Arizona Cardinals coach talk about Josh McCown last week. He went on to say the kid is going to be good because he can make plays when things break down. He said a QB in the NFL has to be able to make plays when things go bad because things "go bad" on about 50% of the pass plays. That's just one example of how many NFL coaches think, not just Arizona's. You make plays either with your legs...or in the case of Brady and Manning,,,your uncanny ability to feel pressure and know exactly where the open guy is (and have the touch and accuracy to get it there!). Drew has none of these qualities. I can't wait for JP to get in there and take his rookie lumps so he can be more prepared for the opening of 2005.

I'm sure New England won't be looking for an Evans pass deep on the first play
Yeah, i know...we gotta try it.
-
I loved Losman's response on Empire that he doesn't need a doctor to tell him his x-ray looks good. he can see for himself. the kid is so cocky, it's great. it's like in training camp when he said he doesn't need an alarm clock to know when to throw the ball. He made it sound like the alarm clock thing was idiotic.
someone who is that cocky and confident (and has talent) has to be good. he won't allow himself to be average or bad.
-
If Drew keeps producing like he has... he will surely hate Mularkey soon. That's becausee MM will bench his a$$. I've listened to MM and watched his body language...he is supporting Drew right now, but a couple more bad games and he will turn to Matthews or whoever,
-
I'd rather read 100 JP posts than one more quote from Bledsoe about how the Bills just need to "correct our mistakes" in order to produce offensively. That excuse wore thin after about week 4 of 2003. Now we hear it after every game. Please give me more JP updates!!!

I bet Butch Davis is really kicking himself for using Winslow on special teams duty.
It kills me how Buffalo has been relatively injury free (compared to a lot of teams) but they're not taking advantage of it.
-
Screw Peter Angelos. He is an evil little man. He thinks his precious Orioles have annexed the Washington D.C. market....therefore he has the right to block the move. Good for him for getting a sweet deal but I don't like the guy. Those two markets are as separate as Buffalo & Toronto. There's plenty of room for two teams in that region.
-
I love it, Peerless and Vick had this big "love in" when he was being courted by Atlanta. Now they probably think the other is overrated.
-
Redskins are getting boned on these pass interference calls (or non-calls). They give Dallas a TD in the 1st Qtr on a Phantom interference call. Then Dallas clearly interferes w/ Gardner on a 50 yard bomb in the end zone and no call? these refs really suck.
-
Oh yeah. Losman will see the field at some point this year. It may not be until the last few games but he WILL play. My theory about the broken leg is that it was a sign from a higher power for JP to not act so reckless on the field. I watched the Broncos & Titans preseason games and he took some vicious hits in only 3 quarters of work. Unless he takes better care of himself on the field, he will get broken in half. I sure hope he learns to chuck, duck and slide when he gets back in there.

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Throw out that last hail mary int and we were +2 for the game. An NFL team almost never loses when they're +2. really pathetic.
