I'll try to watch the game on the stream tonight. I'm excited for opening night. Looking forward to seeing this new offense from coach Quinn.

It's nothing new really. Shefter is just answering a question about Spiller's role this season. He thinks the Bills are fortunate to have 3 talented RB's. Says Spiller will have a larger role than people think and Jackson/Lynch will still be productive. Says the Bills have a lot riding on Spiller...
The bigger news in the Rumours section is that if Lynch returns to near 100% tomorrow night, he will have a major head start over Freddie in being the teams primary RB. It quotes Gailey as saying that Jackson will be limited early in the season.
Leinart to Buffalo is a nothing story for now.

These uniforms were never designed to be worn blue on blue or white on white. When the uniforms were unveiled, they showed the navy jersey with white pants and the blue pants with the white jerseys. Some idiot decided blue on blue was a good idea. At least if they went back to the original way the uniforms were supposed to be worn, they might look a bit better. I do agree though, a change would be better yet.
Great post. i've made the same observation. If they can just wear the blue jersey's at home with WHITE pants, i can live with it. The Blue/Blue look is a fad that should have died a couple years ago. It reminds me of Donahoe/Jauron/Losing. White pants with dark jerseys are classy.

I also thought th Fitzpatrick showed why he is going to be 2nd string (and probably get a few starts this year). He is crafty and knows where to go with the ball in most every situation. He can't ALWAYS it there, but at least shows what a capable QB needs to show.
-
can the nonsense stop about Fitz maybe getting cut. They need him on this team. He's smart and crafty. knows exactly where to go with the ball almost everytime.
-
Bell is better than Lynch. HE doesn't dance, just raw power and straight ahead running like Fred.
-
How the hell was Bell not drafted??? he's an excellent RB. gotta believe he's gonna make this team

At least Painter is so horrible that we should roll over him once Manning is out.
If only we could play against Painter and John Beck every week. Life would be good. Here's why a QB is so vital....Indy is probably gonna be 12-4 with Manning. With Painter they'd be 5-11 at best.

I live in DC and Shanahan did put an emphasis on playing that game HARD. It was important in front of their owner and new GM to show a winning attitude. Not to mention McNabb and Grossman are better than anyone we have running the offense. Haslett did throw a lot of pressure at Buffalo for an opening preseason game. After listening to HAslett, it almost made me wish he was our coach (even though i did not support him during the coach search). He's doing a great job in DC,,,at least in camp installing their new defense.

Just an observation from last night and a related one from last week...
Mark Sanchez appears to be the biggest douche on two feet. His QB coach (Mark Cavanaugh) was giving him a something of a pep talk and Sanchez couldn't even look at him while he was talking. He was rearranging the crap in his duffle bag and couldn't have paid less attention to his coach. Cavanaugh was telling him how to get past his mistakes...basically pick your head up, say f it, and move on. But the Sanchize couldn't be bothered with paying attention as he was dealing with the more important task of sorting his socks and orange tic tacs.
This comes on the heals of last weeks unconfortable mocking of Joe Namath. Namath was at a team meeting and was explaining to Mark how to hold your hands to recieve the snap to reduce fumbles. Mark again couldn't look at the man and was snickering under his breath. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Namath, this little punk couldn't give the man a few minutes of respect?
I'm sure Jets fans everywhere are so happy that Mark feels he knows all there is to know about being a star NFL QB. I shall rejoice every time this arrogant dope tosses a pick, gets sacked, and walks off the field with his heading hanging.
Funny, on the sports radio show i was listening to...they were talking about how on the show he seems like a humble guy who lacks confidence and who belittles himself. Kinda' the opposite of a douche. I don't watch Hard Knocks but its funny how people can come to completely different opinions about someone.

Well, our 1st string did beat Indy's backups 31-0 to end last season. Of course that was Fitz at the helm. I doubt had Trent played it would have been that lopsided (seriously).
-
Ugh is right! i see Peyton Manning rushing his throws and he still manages to complete them while taking a hit. Let's scrutinize Aaron Rodgers, Roethlisberger, RIvers, Eli, etc... These guys are scrambling for their lives and still make plays! NO TEAM has a flawless O-line. QB's still have to make plays. I'm not saying the O-line doesn't need to get better but the QB's here give them no help whatsoever.
-
The one thing (maybe the only thing) I respected about Jauron's head coaching ability was that he knew to pull the plug on Trent. It got him a few more W's. We'll see if Chan comes to the same conclusion in a more timely fashion.
-
It seems like the coaches feel that Trent has the accuracy and total package in practice. Then in a game he fails cuz he doesn't have the guts and confidence to hang in there. Brohm may be one of those guys who isn't the best in practice but plays great in games. Hope the staff gives him an honest look.
-
It will probably be live on a ghetto stream as well.... somewhere online.
-
Cool. I wanna play for that guy! I'll definitely hit a UB game or two when I'm in town and watch the TV games as well.
-
I am stunned when Trent completes a pass beyond 15 yds downfield. He's not a good QB. Maybe in practice he's ok but not in games.

I was listening to a popular sports talk radio show in DC today. They were reveling in how well the Skins played and then a caller phoned in and said "but it was BUffalo and their 1st stringers are 2nd and 3rds on most teams". The hosts were like, yeah- that's true, the Bills are plain bad so we may have to temper our enthusiasm a week or two. They all just dismissed the Bills as a low level college team.

Garbage men probably get bored with the monotony of picking up garbage, too, but they don't get to skip whole neighborhoods. There is monotony in all work. The amount of complaining WGR does about having to talk about the Bills is unacceptable. I understand everyone is human and everyone has the right to be frustrated with their job.
But for a sports radio talk show host in Buffalo, NY (where there is so little work, let's remember), it is beyond lazy to complain about one of the most desirous gigs in town, its offensive. Privately, Simon, Schopp, Bulldog -- they don't have to like watching the Bills/talking about them, but they have to do it. That's their job. If it's not, and WGR is a Sabres-only station, that's fine too, but then they need to be upfront about it and act like it.
This "We'll cover the Bills but only disdainfully" thing is offensive, there's no other word for it.
Your comments are spot on. I agree. The Bills are the #1 thing to talk about right now. It's not difficult as a sports radio host in Buffalo to take in the game and be able to speak intelligently about it. It's a requirement and not a difficult task.

When you watch other games around the league, this is just a huge pitfall for the Bills. They have to work too damn hard to string together a flawless drive in order to score. I think with Spiller in there, we finally have some explosiveness at RB. Chad Simpson looked quick and Bell had some nice power speed up the middle. We are ok at RB.
QB is obviously the other area of concern. How/why Edwards has been annointed #1 on the depth chart is beyond me? All i know is we saw Fitzpatrick last season hit several passes downfield and get that critical chunk yardage. I recall some passes vs. Jax, Miami and Indy that went for big yardage. I'm sure there are others. Can anyone recall the last time Trent has hit on some big yardage plays? Bueller? anyone? his bombs are always too long or underthrown.
I'm really at a loss as to why the pecking order is not Fitz, Brohm then Trent and Levi?!? I watch Trent i feel like i am watching Curtis Painter, ugh! I still can't get that Cleveland disaster out of my head and many other games. I mean Kelly basically said he sucks and i believe Kelly knows a good QB when he sees one. (Of course Kelly had to back off a little bit since Gailey came in and Jimbo still wants to stay in his good graces and get his sideline passes).
Anyway, i hope Chan sees through all this BS and realizes Trent is not the guy. I can get at least mildly excited with anyone else. If Trent is named the QB, i think we blow the opener. Fitz beat Miami last year and made plays. I have ALOT more faith in him.

I like Mallett alot last season and even started a thread on him (during the '09 season). Seems like even when he gets hit, he's so big the hit doesn't destroy him. Needs to work on his footwork a bit and short range accuracy, imo. Great pro potential though.
-
I like Simon as a person. Seems like a good guy. I do agree with posters that get ticked off about his penchant for not watching full games or certain sports. I mean he is a host of a sports talk show and SHOULD make it his business to watch. It's not that big of a time drainer to DVR the games. I have 3 young kids and do it all the time. I can watch a 3 hr game in and hour or so. I'm sure many posters here do the same.
Also, I'm not an NBA fan but i hate when he (and other hosts) brag about not watching a game in "years". I mean don't you even want to be educated about your profession and what's going on out there in case someone wants to talk about it? It's not like watching other sports is studying for a physics exam. gimme a break.
-
I mean look...could Spiller use some live game action to get ready for his first NFL season? sure.,,but at what risk? We saw the USC rookie RB go down last night for Tennessee with a horrible dislocated ankle and Houston lost Ben Tate with a broken ankle. Both guys, DONE. That on top of Fred and Lynch also getting dinged up.
We know Spiller has god given talent that very few have. He's gonna be good whether he plays in preseason or just practices. He's hugely important to the Bills offense this year. I hope they let the other RB's on the roster carry the load in preseason. Unleash CJ in week #1....keep him healthy above all else....at least for the first game!

I can't understand why they don't ever wear the white pants with the Navy jersey like it was intended? The blue/blue look is symbolic with LOSING. Blue jersey/white pants at home just looks more professional. That's an easy change that they introduce now!
Naaman Roosevelt Cut?

If Roosevelt were on New England, he'd catch 60 passes out of the slot. That's the same team that made Julian Edelman into another Welker. Naaman is a better receiver than Edelman (who played QB in college). The Bills just don't have a QB that gets him the ball and they haven't made him a focus target. If some team does, he will prove to be a really good player, imo.
