  1. I think it's interesting Ryan has as many votes for favorite off-season move as the next 4 highest choices combined. If I thought the culture change I see was caused by him, he'd have my vote too. I credit the Pegulas for the change. They'd have my vote, and win by a landslide I think, if they were listed as a choice - - even though they don't fit the construct of the poll.
  2. I really like the off-season moves so far. I think the addition of Roman as OC is the one we needed the most, however. If we had kept Schwartz somehow and added Roman, we'd be in good shape. The other offensive weapons are a great boost to an anemic squad as well. Re-signing Hughes was a close second. My least favorite move is signing Incognito, but I'm not strongly opposed; I just hate having Bills I really don't like. With his year off, and locker room issues, he is a risk, and not a part of our long-term solution, IMO. I might have voted for letting Searcy go as a least favorite move. I think it's the one that will hurt us the most, but understand the money side.
  3. Why is Ray Nitschke the best seller in Kansas?
  4. Nothing screams "Super Bowl" like a low round QB who is changing his throwing mechanics.

  7. There's a nice grid of numbers by position here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_number_%28American_football%29 (Can anyone tell me how to insert the table here?)
  8. Metaphorically, this is a touchdown for the team, and long-time Bills fans are taking a few minutes to look for a penalty flag before feeling good. . . .
  9. If they enjoy the meal, no one will be questing if the soft drink was too expensive. Actually, even if the Bills win, the normal percentage of negative/critical posters will nit-pick every aspect of the team.
  10. I like the analogy! People regularly overpay for soft drinks (like free agents) because they are focused, rightly, on the overall meal (team), not each item on the menu.
  11. Spikes played less than half of the defensive snaps in 2014, didn't he? I want him back, but he's a guy I would pressure to come back with favorable terms, or move on. He is a thumper for sure, but also looked a bit slow to me.
  12. I like how the timing of the offer sheet makes the 5 day period end Sunday evening. Let them work the weekend or make a quicker decision!
  13. I think I'm going to think of that as the concussion emoticon from now on. . . .
  14. I agree, good stuff and post more! billsfan1959 - that's very much how I feel.
  15. It's nice to see him sign with SD. Now someone lock this thread!
  16. Report: Patriots 'very likely' to sign WR Steve Johnson (CBS Sports)
  17. And to be clear: I'm not really opposed to paying a lot, so long as it doesn't handcuff the team in the future. I have just never thought Clay was that valuable. Were you particularly worried about Clay when we played the Dolphins last year?
  18. I'm fine with that compensation, if it's the total with incentives: 4 Pro Bowls, 4 Super Bowl wins, playing >70% of our offensive snaps. . . .
  19. And to answer your question: I say keep the avatar until our first playoff game.
  20. I remember Admiral Akbar. Until the play-offs materialize, all of this yearly regeneration and hoping feels like it could be a trap. Usually sometime by around the second game of the year (and more typically in preseason) I say "I've got a bad feeling about this." It's nice to see the team moving at warp speed; I just hope hope we don't find ourselves in an asteroid belt when we drop back out of hyperspace. I don't know that you can do it after a topic is created. When you start a topic you click "Manage Topic Poll" in the upper right corner of the page.
  21. Maybe change your avatar. Sci-Fi is good for the off-season; maybe go back to football-related when TC starts? I'm fine seeing how a focused aggressive FO/coach steers the team. I haven't seen this "show" in awhile. My "Downerest" sentiment is that all signs point to the coaches forcing the Bills into pre-conceived roles for the offense and defense (hexagonal pegs/round holes?). Understanding we won't land perfect players at each positio, I want to see the coaching staff flex their schemes to the strengths of the actual players.
  22. Nice post. It's nice to read a balanced take. I too think the front office is fully aware of our needs, and is trying, but could well come up short, again. Inability to get a QB with high likelihood of success this year I understand; they are in very high demand. Inability to get at least serviceable TE and o-line again is a significant concern. I think what they tried for these positions last year was okay; it just didn't work. (I'm not thumping my fists that they should have drafted four offensive linemen!) Because of this, I'm not too concerned, yet. I am a bit wary of the Harvin signing. I would rather the team build a dynasty than a flash-in-the-pan one-year shot at the play-offs. But unlike what some people are posting, I like the message it sends to the team. Clearly we are building to win now. Get on board, or get out of the way.
  23. The obvious answer is to lock this older longer thread and leave just one thread, and a shorter one.
