  1. 4-12. What else needs to be said?

Johnson may be getting a lot of looks, enough to make him a #1 WR, but top receivers don't drop game winning balls in OT, when the ball was delivered perfectly. When I think #1 WR, I think Jerry Rice. He was CLUTCH! Johnson is nowhere near clutch.

So there was only one #1 WR in NFL history? Because no one measures up to Rice.

    Nice work, 20 years.

  2. 9) Bell played well today. This if you like small, weak tackles who give up sacks and penalties. Jason Taylor, at the age of 90, ate him up.

You and I were watching different games today, because I was keyed on Bell the whole game and he looked very good.

Yes, he had a false start. So did Levitre. Big deal. It's actually more inexcusable for a guard to have one than a tackle

  3. i'm ALL IN on trading up to get Andrew Luck...assuming he comes out.

make up any silly trade proposal of draft picks and/or players and i'll probably say yes (Kyle Williams is the only untouchable).

draft picks...let's say we stay 4th overall...i would swap picks and give next year's #1......i would swap picks and give this year's 2nd, 3rd AND 4th or more if needed. name any three players.....done !!

Andrew Luck is a FRANCHISE QB......those lost draft picks are simply salary cap slots that can be filled in Free Agency or signing undrafted players.

Of course you'd trade Kyle Williams if it means getting Luck. If we can have five losing seasons and the worst run defense with him, then we can sure do it without him.

  4. 3. The Bills Defense has struggled this season. When it’s all said and done, they will likely be 32nd in the league in rushing yards against, 27th in the league in points against, 27th in the league in interceptions, and 28th in the league in sacks. It’s good to know that should the Bills choose to look for a new Defensive Coordinator, there are some excellent options out there. See: Mike Singletary, Dave Wannstedt, Wade Phillips, Ron Rivera (could be an option if things blow up in San Diego), etc.

Mike Singletary has never been a defensive coordinator. It might be premature to call him an excellent option.

  5. Going into the season, our main concerns were the following: LB's, DL, LT,RT, WR,TE and QB.Would you now take LT, WR and QB off that list?

QB isn't a hole on this team. It's a gaping chasm. It's the Grand Canyon. Until this team gets serious about addressing it, forget about competing.

If Luck is available, definitely take him, but a QB is no longer a top need. Fitz is not an excellent QB, but the Ravens have won a superbowl without one. You just need an excellent running game, solid defense, and a good special teams.

The Ravens had the greatest defense in the history of the NFL. Not only did they set the record for fewest points allowed, they gave up 23 points in four playoff games. They allowed an average of 13 points per game in their losses. Maybe once every decade or so a team can win the Superbowl with a below-average quarterback. I don't want to wait for that.

  6. Nothing so remarkable on the Bills: Fred Jackson on the first team, Donald Jones, David Nelson and George Wilson on the watch list. I don't think there are any glaring omissions.

I think his QBs are a bit confusing. Michael Vick was the 1st overall draft pick. He wasn't unwanted by the Falcons, so much as he was incarcerated. Teams held off on picking him up due in part to the layoff but mostly due to the PR hit they expected to take. Still, Philly picked him up pretty quickly. Hard to really see the top overall pick as unwanted.

His second QB is Drew Brees, and this one really gets me. His own team made him a $50 million offer (granted, it was heavily incentive-laden after his shoulder injury) to retain him when he hit free agency, after franchising him the year before. He ended up taking a $60 million offer, $10 million guaranteed. That hardly qualifies as unwanted. The best TMQ seems to be able to muster is that he was unwanted by the Dolphins, who decided to gamble on Culpepper instead (thank god).

It's harder this year, since QBs who actually met his criteria in years past - Warner, Romo - are not viable options this year. Is there any decent QB out there that was unwanted?

  7. We played AFC West in 2008 and that was @Denver and @Kansas City

So that means 2011 is at @Oakland and @San Diego

    This one looks correct:

    http://www.johnnyroadtrip.com/schedules/nfl_future_afce.htm

Sorry Jay its @OAK instead of @KC

    My bad.

    Read what he wrote:

"THE NFL ANNOUNCED that in future years, teams will travel to either Kansas City and San Diego OR to Oakland and Denver when playing the entire AFC West, and to San Francisco and Arizona OR to Seattle and St. Louis when playing the entire NFC West. The actual matchups have not yet been announced, so AFC West and NFC West opponents are subject to change."

So, his projections based on 2008 are not going to happen.

  8. Allegedly there was a quarterback competition between Edwards, Fitz and Brohm last year. We all know Edwards got the early nod. I love Fitz, but after today I really want to see a competition between him and Brohm in camp next year. They should both have a chance to play with the first stringers. If we select a quarterback in the draft he will not be playing next year anyway so keep him out of it for now.

Why would he have to sit next year? Did Bradford? Sanchez or Stafford? Ryan or Flacco?

When you draft a QB high in the first, you play him.

  9. Five of the losses have been by less than a touchdown. Six were by more. The Bills have the fourth-worst point differential in the NFL. If you think this is anything other than a really bad team, you are kidding yourself.

I agree that Chan is not in any jeopardy. But that is because he is in his first year and the Bills won't pay two people not to coach. He hasn't actually done anything to earn his position yet.

  10. My argument against Newton is based on risk management and sample size, primarily, but also character secondarily. I tend to subscribe to the analysis put forth by Bill Parcells when it comes to QBs, in that he suggests drafting QBs that meet these four criteria…

1.He must be a senior, because you need time and maturity to develop into a good professional quarterback.

2.He must be a graduate, because you want someone who takes his responsibilities seriously.

3.He must be a three-year starter, because you need to make sure his success wasn’t ephemeral and that he has lived as “the guy” for some period of time.

4.He must have at least 23 wins, because the big passing numbers must come in the context of winning games.

Not sure where Newton will be on the score, but he doesn’t measure up to all four “Parcells” variables.

Neither do Luck, Locker or Mallett. Or Tom Brady.

    But, hey, Chad Henne does.

  11. Two weeks in a row, hit on QB and fumble caused. That is being productive in limited snaps. So I do not agree with you that it is just one play.

I meant your judgment is based on one play. Moats is off to a promising start, and I am very hopeful that he can take the next step.

  12. Actually, I think it'd be better if more people didn't make sweeping generalizations about rookies in preseason. But, I agree, it's nice to see someone admit they may have been wrong about a player. All too often, it seems people make up their mind about someone and then become hell bent on proving themselves right for the remainder of the guy's career.

    One play!

  13. I am a LE supporter and yes he is having a disappointing season, but in my opinion Stevie is being targeted at least 3x as often as Lee. We all saw what Lee could do when Losman was locking in on him. Fitz seems to have a better chemistry with Stevie. Maybe with OTA's and training camp as a starter, Fitz can establish a similar rapport with Lee.

    Targets

    Steve Johnson - 99

    Lee Evans - 75

  14. This is the reason.

A lot of trademark protection stories can seem petty and overbearing at first glance. But unfortunately, it is a strong legal principle that you need to take affirmative steps to protect your mark. You don't have the luxury of being flexible when deciding who and who not to sue. Any evidence of cutting someone a break could be used by a legitimate infringer to defend their case. It's pretty rigid, but it's the rules of the game right now.

I haven't taken IP Law yet, but it would seem that as long as there is a licensing agreement (say, for a nominal fee), that would be enough to protect their rights from a public domain argument. I guess even that may be too much for high schools, though.
