  1. Who would waste a second round pick on a friggin kicker? That's crazy. I can't think of any highly drafted kicker besides Janukowski who actually worked out well for the team that drafted him.

The need is obviously o-line. Unless there is a tremendous run on guards and centers in the first round, we should be picking there. Either that or a cornerback. Knowing TD, he'll probably draft a QB and end up looking smart.

I can't think of another kicker drafted that high besides Janikowski, at least in the last decade. Plus, isn't there spposed to be enough guard depth to snatch one in the third rond?

  2. Is and will Tom Donahoe make any moves this off season to improve our 9-7 team from last year? Mike Gandy, Kelly Holcomb and resigning Ryan Nufield is not going to make this team better. I'm not sure what Donahoe is waiting for. Are the Bills in so tight of cap trouble that they can't sign a free agent guard? I just can't see us making this team a 12-4 team through the draft alone. I hope TD has something up his sleeve but I'm not so sure he does.

Wait and see what happens I guess.

In addition to the valid points already made - that Losman over Bledsoe is a huge improvement and JMac should have even more success in his second year after a successful first season - I don't think there is a guard in the history of the NFL that is worth three wins to a team. So if you want to get to 12-4, one free agent guard, any free agent guard won't get you there. It might get you one win, tops. And IMHO, McGahee healthy for a whole season and even better, as he says he will be, plus Losman's mobility, should be enough to win those at least three of the 4 close losses (3 early games we lost by 8 points and the season finale), and there's your 12-4.

  3. Yeah, I know this is ridculously early to bring this up, but if Donahoe really is going to sit on his hands and not make any moves during free agency, what kind of compensation could we get in the 2006 draft? A third rounder? Do you think Donahoe has been considering this, too?

  4. My opinion is that we need one of two things:

    1. Resign Pat Williams

    2. Get a better #2 Corner than McGee, and let McGee back into the nickel slot.

If it's possible, I vote for number 2.  I think Ron Edwards will do fine in place of Pat, but as you said he is more of a pass rusher.  If Pat walks, they need to be able to have a safety cheat up and LB's stay in their lanes to help with the run.  A good number 2 CB will be able to man up, allowing the rest of the team to focus on other things.

Our pass defense was ranked 2nd in the conference, our run defense sixth. I would've thought that was reversed. So, it's harder to argue that pass D should be the top priority. But, if we stick with Edwards and go after a Ty Law, Antoine Winfield-type CB who can play the run as well as the pass, we would be better off with option 2. In turn, stronger pass rush from Edwards helps the pass D. It could be a win-win.

  5. Not that it matters, but does anyone know if JP is jewish?  He certainly looks like he could be, and  the last name could be too!  Before you all get uppity, I have part jewish heritage, and am proud of it, even though I was raided Catholic!  Just curious if anyone knows!

    raided Catholic, I like that.

Sid Luckman was Jewish. Benny Friedman, who just elected into the Hall of Fame, was Jewish. Hebrews, lets be proud of our players.

  6. Say the Bills put in Losman this year, he hits some bumps on the way, and they finish 9-7, one game out of the playoffs. I think that's likely. Then, by 2006, they'll be in the playoffs. So, that means it will have taken Donahoe only six years to make the playoffs. On average, a team should make it eveyr 2.6 years. Maybe that's why we're not all so anxious to praise him - just yet. But if he brings us a Superbowl, forget everything I just said.

  7. See: Tom Brady, Chad Pennington, and Eli Manning.

Manning is a perfect example of what happens when you rush a rookie. BRady and Pennington are when you don't.

rolly, help me out. Didn't Brady sit one year before leading his team to the SB, just like Losman? And shouldn't we give Manning another season before judging him a bust - or that playing him before he was ready might've helped his progress? The point is you can find examples any which way, but the majority of cases show that Losman should be ready to contribute this year.

  8. First, I think that will change under JP. Second, if Bledsoe were to stay, I think that would be an argument against Moulds. Bledsoe too often locks on to his primary target because he's Bledsoe's favorite, causing him to make stupid throws into traffic and to miss an open receiver. Pulling his favorite security blanket out from under him will force him to look for the most open receiver.

  9. yes.  It doesn't take a super fan to figure out that .215 isn't great, and being a backup first baseman doesn't qualify him for the hall. Oh, and the fact that he is worried about how to pay for his kid's college makes me think he wasn't one of the top bread winners in the league.

But, of course, that doesn't have ANYTHING to do with this conversation.

The point is, if he's a AAA scrub, or Mickey Mantle, he should give the ball up. The Red Sox signed him, and like it or not, and no matter for how short a period of time, he was on that TEAM. Obviously, he doesn't care about that.

    He's a douche.

Why does he aspire to send his kids to Florida State?
