  1. Once again this scenario is more about concept than specific. Trading a player for another player of need will give us more flexibility in the draft, that's really the point that I'm trying to make.
  2. I hear you. We do have a few young guys that did get a year under their belts but I don't think Marv would have gotten Langston Walker if he felt that he could count on the youngsters. With that being said, one would have to believe that they must really like Walker and saw something in him. I'm not going to base anything that took place in Oakland to form my opinion of him. that whole situation over there was a mess, starting from Art Shell and all the way down the line. Apparently Shell was using blocking schemes from when he was playing! When was that, 25 or 30 years ago? I do believe that this is where Jim McNally MUST come thru for us, no more excuses, the time is now.
  3. That may be correct about the geography of the lockers not having as big of an effect. It does signify who the leaders and voices are of the team and that will have an effect on the field for the game and also at practice. I believe that the likes of Lawyer Milloy was primarily concerned about the money, and this may affected the outlook of others in the secondary like Winfield and Clements. I'm glad he's gone, he wasn't a leader but more of a me player. This kind of attitude rubs off to other players in a detrimental way. The grouping of players who bonded well were Fletcher-Baker and Spikes. Although this pair were team football guys, they had their own ideas for the direction of this team. Unfortunately they weren't on the same path with the staff. As much as their abilities and age weren't as well suited for the defensive schemes, I think the potential division also played a part in their demise. This new wave of Bills are youthful and full of energy. Contracts for the most part are out of the way. This core of young bucks are nothing but fired up about football and football only. It wouldn't surprise me if Whitner lands up with one of those lockers too. We are going to have a very good football team and for a long time also.
  4. I read earlier that Turner is 26 yrs old. While that's not old and granted he doesn't have much mileage on him, it still kind of put him in perspective. We really did stepped our O-Line up and if the cost for Turner is too much, then I do believe we can still be effective with our running game without him. I think the combination of Fred Jackson/Anthony Thomas is going to be a real nice surprise, especially if we find a gem in the 2nd or 3rd rd. I don't know anything about Jackson other than reading his bio but does seem to be real high on him. As far as Turner goes, one of this year's 3rd rders and no more than next year's 2nd rder. That's it, maximum price, and that's only if Marv thinks that he is something really special.
  5. No, I agree with you. I don't believe that we should use multiple picks from this draft nor our 1st OR 2nd rder. I do believe, and be willing, to trade a combination of a 2007 3rd rder and a pick from next year's draft (from a 3rd rder on up). This would be a fair value for us not only because Turner is a real deal but it still allows us to use our 1st and 2nd rd picks on other important needs. I'm really not looking forward for us to use either of those picks on a RB, we have other pressing needs.
  6. I think that this will land up to make a difference down the road, especially if Peterson and Lynch are off the board before Green Bay picks. When an agent has a client on a team these trades seem to work pretty reasonably. If Buffalo really wants Turner, it might be better to make a move before the draft gets underway. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=583469
  7. Not looking to really spread gossip but just before Buffalo cut WR Drew Haddad he was looking to invest in some property in Florida. I got a chance to talk to him on the phone and of course I hammered him on the state of affairs of Buffalo. He really expected to catch on and indicated that Reed was kind of impressed of being hollywood. Of course Haddad got cut and Reed got extended, so take it for what it's worth. I think that the Bills are looking for someone(s) who just bleeds football for their leadership roles.
  8. Well, I did state that this scenario was really more about concept than specifics. I do agree that Roscoe does give us big play capabilities but I don't really believe that he's a #2 WR. Do we really have the luxury of keeping a player who is to be used more as a specialist when we could stand to have a more prominent player filling a primary need? I think the Bills do have some ideas for him and may not be willing to part with him at this point. I'm not too crazy about his size and feel that if the Bills targeted someone that they really liked for a mid-late rd pick at the WR spot, then yes, I believe that Parrish could be expendable for the right cause or need.
  9. Dial up Tampa for CB Alan Zemaitis. They have a need for Wr and just like us, they'll be creating flexibility for themselves by addressing one of their needs before the draft. Zemaitis is a local boy for us and Roscoe is Florida homegrown. It's best to deal from your strength and the WR position is more than adequate for us. Even if the principle players are inaccurate, the concept of this would eliminate us having to be forced into picking another position of need early in the draft. The more needs that we can fill before the draft, the more that it will allow us to take the best player available in the draft, reguardless of position. http://www.buccaneers.com/news/newsdetail.aspx?newsid=5116 http://www.buccaneers.com/news/newsdetail.aspx?newsid=5126 http://www.buccaneers.com/news/newsdetail.aspx?newsid=5221
  10. Over and beyond what the Bills think what his abilities are, they must really like his attitude. Like I said, it's the beginning of a new era in Billsville.
  11. If A-Train were to get one that would really signify what they think of him.
  12. Hmm, that's weird, I did before and now I can't neither. Basicly it said that maybe they would reconsider down the road but right now they are going to go in another direction.
  13. That's pretty funny, anyways those two only need a footlocker.
  14. Good, I'm actually glad about this. At first I was all for Brown, I even suggested it before they even annouced that there was any interest but now I don't care for him, and I was never a player for Dillion. This definitely indicates that they have bigger and better plans at RB. IF the Bills land up only drafting a RB after the 1st rd, then that would mean that they are pretty high on Fred Jackson. That would be OK because it will allow us on day one of the draft to concentrate on the LB and CB positions only.
  15. There is a new era beginning. Now it's clear why the Bills went so overboard with Kelsay, they must expect big things from him. There's four lockers and only two have been assigned so far and it's been to defensive players. I wonder any of the two remaining will go to the offense. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4684
  16. If we stay at #12 then the surprise pick here would DE Adam Carriker. If we trade down and stay in the 1st rd then I would think that CB Darrelle Revis.
  17. I don't know how accurate this is on Marv's thinking on the draft picks. If I remember correctly it was Polian hammering Marv on trading all those draft picks for Cornelius Bennett. According to Marv, he finally relented at about 3:00 in the morning to do the trade. He did admit that it was the right move and that he was glad that they did it.
  18. The lack of quality O-Linemen will allow players at other positions to slip to the 2nd rd. It was a great move on Buffalo's part to solidify our O-Line immediately into free agency. I believe that this wasn't by accident. Resolving our O-Line accomplished a few things. First, we signed who we wanted and didn't have to settle or play a wait and see with other teams for the FA players. Secondly, by eliminating the need for our O-Line we don't have to use first day picks in what might become a free-for-all for the few quality ones that will be taken in the first two rds. It also gives us flexibility with the few needs that we do have. With a much more improved revamped O-Line we don't have to draft a RB with our first pick. We are now in position to either; a) trade for RB b) sign a RB c) draft a RB d) any combination of a,b, or c We are situated better to draft for high quality players at other positions in the 2nd rd. Here is where we get another CB, possibly a RB. We could even draft a LB here. I'm pretty intrigued with S Aaron Rouse here in the 2nd rd and converting him to LB, like what the Colts did with Cato June. Once again it was a great move on Marv's part to fill our O-line needs BEFORE the draft and allow us more flexibility and options in this year's draft. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/dr...e-linemen_N.htm
  19. Hey, thanks folks, I feel better now. Right after I posted this I went and saw Dr. Z and got a script for some meds. Now that I'm more sedated I started thinking if we were didn't land up with Patrick Willis for whatever reason, DE Adam Carriker could make sense at the #12 spot. It seems that our new addition Walker and Tripplett with be rotating which leaves McCargo and Williams alternating. Carriker could more than tie up a double team and with Walker well into his prime, Carriker could solidify our D-Line for years to come. We can not only keep in a primary rotation but also line him up anywheres along the D-Line. We got Kelsay and Denney on one side but being able to alternate Carriker with Schobel would keep Aaron at maximum peak. Could this make sense or is my meds starting to kick in?
  20. Dear Marv, Please hurry and resolve our RB situation before the draft. I'm about ready to lose my job from being glued to this message board, I can't sleep peacefully at night and I don't talk to people anymore. If you can hurry up and make this deal for Michael Turner in the very near future, then I'll be able to get on with my life and patiently wait for you to select Patrick Willis in the draft. As long as you resolve the RB position, Willis makes the most sense for our needs and the speed that he provides. I'm not nearly as concerned about the CB position for we have some coverage there now and this draft seems to be deeper at this position. Thanks for listening and if you could respond by having this Turner thing done by the end of the week that would be greatly appreciated. Have a nice day. Sincerely yours, TIPSTER19
  21. You know, that's what I was going to tell you.
  22. Here's a suggestion to the ones who are bored with the thread contents, don't read 'em and go to another one that interests you. Man, I'm a genius! I wonder if Marv needs any more staff members.
  23. Check out my other post, that should make six.
  24. No offense taken Beerball, just breaking balls. Sketch Soland, you ain't eyeballing that little girl now are you? Someone forced the chicken wings on Marv, he was only there to check out the hotties of Buffalo.
