Colts UFA DT Montae Reagor is visiting the Eagles. The Colts used him in a cover 2, could we? http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/homeNews...il.jsp?id=66351 Kevan barlow's agent says that Green Bay is in talks with him but nothing is expected to be done before the draft. The report also states that Buffalo, Tennessee and Indianapolis has inquired about him. FA Corey Dillion is still aiming to join a club that is on the verge of the play-offs. His highness says he's willing to carry the ball 10, 12 or even 15 times per game. The Colts have resigned DE Bo Schobel. Miami is still interested in QB Trent Green but it's a slow going process. Teams that are looking to make deals may be waiting to see if players are going to be released or make a deal come draft day. The Redskins may still cut WR David Patten. The Texans signed former Eagle LB Shawn Barber. *Just alittle news, I'm bored at work.

I'm out on Leonard. he dropped 11 lbs. and is trying to enter the draft as a RB. They made him a FB in college, he should keep the weight and try to be the best FB in this year's draft. I'm all for Jackson. he played in a rotation and did fine. The only concern would be if we should use our 2nd rder on him.

Marv showed that character and chemistry are important
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about everybody else but the more I read and hear about Branch, the more he is less appealing. I believe Marv is looking for highly motivated players and the reports lately on Branch haven't been too favorable. As it stands right now is if the Bills were to take Branch or Hall I think I would actually feel alittle disappointed. -

I don't want Hall neither, all I said was maybe he becomes more of a reality for us. The best available athlete is probably going to be who we choose if we don't trade back. I just think that the players that were mentioned will be gone by the time we pick and that CB is a concern. If that is the case and it's not Hall then maybe it will be Houston. If RB, LB, DT and CB are going to be our concerns, then I'm expecting Peterson, Willis and Akoye to be gone by the time we pick. This would leave Lynch, Hall and Houston as viable choices. The only other position that could be tempting would be WR. If that were true then Ginn would be the choice. I do think that there is enough quality WRs on the board for us to take in a later round though. I also feel that this A-Train may allow us to consider a compliment RB with one of our 3rd rd. picks. A fast CB is starting to make sense to me but what do I know. Thoughts? -
It's pretty well known that Marv values the character/chemistry virtues but the speed aspect hasn't been recognized nearly as much. Last year Marv drafted speed and the holdovers from TD's era at the skilled positions posess speed as well. Keeping Evans was a no brainer but Rosco's role even increased under Levy. If that wasn't enough of an indicator, then bringing back Price and hanging on to Andre Davis only reinforces this theory. Marv has consistently kept or obtained speed on both sides of the ball. I don't know who Marv is going to draft, nor where, but I do expect it to be one of the faster players at his position come day one of the draft. Based on thinking this, it makes me wonder if CB Leon Hall does become more of a reality for us with our first pick.

Here, I thought that I would start my own rumors.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did noticed that according to New Era Scouting Buffalo has shown interest in WRs the most. Could Ted Ginn Jr. be the pick here at 12? -
After seeing that post on a four team trade I figured anything could go so why not take a shot at it. Let's really shake up the draft with some shocking trade rumors and add some scenarios that you think could happen. The draft starts out with the Raiders and Lions taking QBs in succession, Russell for the verticle game and Quinn as the franchise QB. Cleveland trades out with Denver for a big time deal. Shanahan is looking for Rod Smith's successor. Denver trades their 1st rd pick (#21), one of their 3rd rd picks (#70,#86), CB Dre Bly, and RB Mike Bell for WR Calvin Johnson. Tampa is dumbfounded and lands up fortifying their OL and selects OT Joe Thomas. Arizona plays it safe and takes DE Gaines Adams. Here's where the Redskins finally make a smart move and try to recover some of the drafts that they foolishly traded away and trades down with Green Bay. Washington needs a DL and can also help replace the loss of Dockery. The Packers trade their 1st rd pick (#16), their 2nd rd pick (#47) and OL Kevin Barry who is expendable. The Packers know that they have to move ahead of Houston to be able to select Peterson and Washington is still able to take a DE by taking Jarvis Moss with the 16th pick. The Vikings go defense and selects DE Jamaal Anderson. Houston can't take defense again with their first pick and they have to give Carr and Green the best opportunity to succeed, so they take OT Levi Brown. Miami is in need of OL help but Thomas and Brown are off the board. The next best thing for the Fish is to start a youth movement with their DL and select DE Adam Carriker. It's a no brainer for Atlanta and they take S LaRon Landry. San Fran is sitting pretty and can't miss with what's available. DT Alan Branch is the choice here. Now it's Buffalo's turn. Here's where I'll let the rest of you start the rumors.

I don't believe that is accurate about being able to offer a RFA a contract if the new club does not posess the qualifying draft pick. If there is no qualifying draft pick available, then the player who occupies that draft pick cannot be the compensation. Below are two links, one is the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement and the second one is the Veteran Free Agency Article XIX. I could have misread it so if anyone has any legal contract experience then maybe you can explain it in simpler language. http://www.nflpa.org/CBA/CBA_Complete.aspx Read Section 3. Offer Sheet and First Refusal Procedures: page 38-© http://www.nflpa.org/cba/cba_pdf/Article_X...Free_Agency.pdf

It seems Buffalo never made a move, they must not have wanted him. I wonder what the Bills are planning on.
-
If that's accurate about having to give up the player if you don't still posess the pick in the designated round is pretty interesting. Would Buffalo be willing to forfeit Hargrove for another player? Based on what potential player, I think it might be tempting.

Who sees Green Bay trading up with us in the draft?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
* In the right deal we could still possibly trade back into the 1st rd and take LB Paul Posluszny. Of course this scenario would be based on Peterson being taken before the 12th pick. I feel that we could still address our needs at LB and CB if we were to trade back just a few slots. If Peterson is still available at the #12 pick then of course we take him. I didn't mention DT not because it's not a need but because I feel that the Bills will resolve this concern before the draft. -
When am I allowed to push the panic button?

While I'm hopeful that McCargo comes through in a big way, I can't remember a DT making a huge difference in his first couple of years. I really think that we'll see Buffalo add a solid 3rd or 4th year DT before the draft, just for security purposes. Think about it, outside of Tripplett, our DTs that are on the current roster are raw. We definitely need some experience in this area, that's part of the reason why I don't see us taking Akoye. I've been advocating Tennessee's RFA DT Randy Starks for awhile now but if not him then someone of his caliber and experience. -
If the league does allow him to come back then I wouldn't be too surprise if the Titans make a play for him.

I expect A-Train to get somewheres in the area of 35-40% ? of the carries and Fred Jackson getting a opportunity to see what he can do. Based on Jackson's production will determine his percentage of carries. Realistically there will be a RBBC and most likely a drafted RB will get carries as well. Here's a scenario that wouldn't surprise me. The Bills draft a RB that has the potential to increase his role each year but only being relied on this year as a 3rd down/change of pace RB. This could also where Shaud Williams fits in. Fred Jackson, if he does indeed prove worthy, runs on 1st and 2nd down between the 20 yd lines and A-Train is the red zone RB. I think that the RB that is drafted has the cosmetics to possibly fill in as more of a primary RB if indeed Jackson is not capable of fulfilling this role. -

Here's what I do know. A-Train is still here, McGahee is gone. Nate Clements was tagged last year but was promised that he wouldn't be this year and now he's gone also. Spikes made some noise when the new administration took over and now he's speculated to be the next player gone. Fletcher-Baker is 32 yrs old and didn't attack the line of scrimmage and now he's gone. Does anybody dispute that the above is not factual? Good. To answer your question Kelly, I never said nor implied that Jauron thought A-Train is a BETTER RB than McGoofey. I just think that DJ LIKES A-Train ALOT and as far as what DJ thinks of McGahee, well, draw your own conclusions. As far as DJ playing McGahee and sitting A-Train, there could be several different reasons. The most obvious reason is that McGahee is the better RB and I have no problem agreeing with that. What I do believe though is between the money, attitude and ability, Marv & Co. did not think that McGahee was the better RB for us in the future. Once again let me point out that A-Train is here and McGahee is gone. -

I don't think that's accurate. Right up to to the trade talk of McGahee, this board seemed to be split. What strikes me as funny is now that the trade is over, nobody seems to dispute the trade. Where are the ones who didn't want the trade now? I was all for it right from jumpstreet. Matter of fact, I was all for it BEFORE the talk, check my posts. -

I don't know to say to that Kelly other than with Jauron being new in his position, could it be possible that he tried to take the safe way and not have the community turn on him if he made the wrong decision? I do believe that Jauron did make some poor decisions that he would like to have back. Could this be one of them? I think alot of people around the league are in for a big surprise this year. -

Tipster19 replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Make no mistake about it, I fully expect us to be in the play-offs THIS year. Anything short of that would be devastating. What I was inferring is that in 2008 I believe we will have a VERY solid team that will be able to sustain and even threaten for the title legitimately. -

I apologize if I ever gave the impression in this post or any other posts that A-Train is a better RB than McGahee. I don't believe anyone else ever thought that either. What Marv is creating in our team is all about attitude and chemistry. I think that the players that are gone or soon to be, have not met the criteria that this administration is looking for. I never doubted the ability of these players, just their mindsets. Would this seem valid? I agree with what billsoverdue said about us drafting/accumalating in bunches. Nice point billsoverdue. Right now we have four first day picks, I expect that we use 3 of them on defense and one on a RB. I think WR, TE/HB and any other positions will be addressed on day 2. Does this sound reasonable? -

Tipster19 replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Besides, it's OK to question your team when 28 other NFL clubs have been to the playoffs since the last team your team went. But that might be too negative for some. Although this statement is factual, I feel that it doesn't accurately gauge what is currently happening in our organization. That statement is based just as much, if not even more, on past administrators/personnel. In the short period that Marv & Co. has taken over the controls, I see and feel alot more secure in our present and future status. Marv is not assembling names or ego tripping, he is simply building a team with a solid foundation. I understand that we ALL have suffered long enough and that some may feel that we're not moving at a fast enough pace but I like what has happen and where we are going under Marv's direction. I like to think that it's very possible that we threaten for double digits in the win column this year but even if we do we will still be a very young and inexperienced team that will still be vunerable. 2008 might be the most exciting year since 1990. I can wait. -

If we were able to slide back to the 16th pick and be able to select Willis, trade back into the 1st rd and then take Posluszny AND draft a worthy 3rd rd RB, I would say that we pretty much had a successful draft. Everything after that would be icing on the cake. -

Althiugh anything is possible with Marv in this draft, I think that people should realize just how much Jauron really likes A-Train. Whenever DJ has been in power, A-Train has been his guy and there hasn't been anything said that would make you doubt that since we traded McGahee. I don't even expect us to draft a RB in the 2nd rd, unless we make a trade that gives us one later in that rd. I look for us to grab a RB with one of our 3rd rders. Someone posted a link on Fred Jackson's bio. This guy could really be the X factor in this whole RB situation. Looks like Marv really likes this guy.
