  1. I just don't understand... Derrick harvey is like the 3rd or 4th best DE in the draft isn't he? You mean that you looked at film and determined that There are 3 or 4 better DE, than any other best player at thier position. Its fair to say that he is really good. But its not like DE is our biggest need and why would you draft the 3rd or 4th best at their position when you have the 11th pick? I think its safe to say that there is one or maybe two superstars in the making at every position Right? Well, that is what I want. Whoever that is I'll gladly take it. I agree that DRC looks like a superstar. RG Brandon Albert, WR James Hardy, Rush LB Quentin Groves, WLB Keith Rivers, FS Kenny Phillips are the guys that will be future superstars. The Bills actually have a chance of drafting most of them. And they would all be the 1st player taken at there position. I just really go by guys that I think are gonna be Pro Bowl players. I'm probably way off... I doubt that there will be too many superstars beyond the best at there respective positions. I think that it is a lot easier to determine who is the best at there positions that to determine if the 3rd best of whatever position is better than the 1st best of a different position. You are talking about picking the best player available right? If you can get the very best player at a position you are actually in need of, why would you do anything else?
  2. I see your point, but disagree... The point is that they really need a wr more than any other position. Combined with the fact that there is some really good wr that are being overlooked this year. They are tall. And they possess really good ability to win jump balls not only in the red zone but also from 30 yds out and even on 3rd down. And speed. And if we don't draft one early then we still won't get a top notch TE, again
  3. I agree with you whole heartedly. I like the pickup of OL or DL in rd 1. I like it almost always because it is smart, you are correct. The problem is that Buffalo has some holes that can't be fixed with a free agent, and some holes that they can't realistically have and win at the same time. I'd be very surprised if one of the top 4 tall wr fell to rd 2. I'd actually be happy with any of them. But Hardy is clearly my choice... Trading down with Philly and aquiring sheppard would basically be a dream come true scenario. Then the Bills can draft a tall wr in rd 1, the te in rd 2 and BPA every pick on...
  4. Thank you. I appreciated your posts also. I do a lot of studying to form my own opinions. I can tell that you and a handful of other posters do the same. I appreciate everybody's points of view and try very hard to not be a jerk, or push my feelings onto others. I very much agree with you on a ton of stuff, this being one of the biggest topics recently. The Bills have a hard time scoring touchdowns. Hardy will help the Bills score more td. Davis is the most NFL ready te out there in my opinion. It would be awesome to add a TD maker and a every down Te that is a threat. I think that most people really need to check their expectations for the player that they are trying to "push". I for one am trying to talk about positions of need and players available at those positions. Realistically, what does somebody expect to get from a wr? I can expect 50 catches from our #2 wr this year. Is that realistic? I think so... Ok, so how many td could Thomas score this year? I don't know. I can honestly say that I think that Hardy is good for 10td every year. Maybe he catches 50 passes maybe he catches 100 passes. But I think he can step right in and cause matchup problems all day. Think of what a combination of a TD making wr and a legit threat at TE can open up for an offense? With the safety unable to play in the box, we can realistically expect Lynch's average per carry to skyrocket. We can realistically expect less sacks, more under routes open, more screens, better play action success, and most importantly more points. The main reason that our rb position doesn't catch screen/flare passes is because he can't get away from the safety. Currently, Who else does the strong safety have to worry about? Reed? Royal? I don't expect that to change with an addition of whoever slips(for good reason) into the 2nd at Wr and whoever slips(for good reason) into the 3rd at TE. So let me ask this question, not to you Astro. But to everyone in complete disagreement with what I have to say. What do you realistically expect to get out of our 1st and 2nd rd draft pick this season? How about beyond that? I expect that our 1st and 2nd rd pick does something to change the way defenses defend us. It is not Fairchilds fault. I would be able to come up with a sure fire plan to stop this offense. Double Lee, stack the box, safety keys on RB. Bills are stopped. LOL, its funny cause its true. The way I see it is like this. This is the perfect scenario for the Bills to be drafting. Teams aren't putting a high value on Wr in this draft. The Bills can't afford to miss at WR. They will have their choice of all of them. TE is a similar position this year. The Bills should realistically have thier choice of TE this year. If they take anything else other than WR in rd 1 and TE in rd 2, they run a very high risk of not getting the best player available at these positions in this draft. What more can you ask for than the absolute best WR and absolute best Te when they are obviously a teams biggest needs. Every addition after that is just great! Its not like the Bills are gonna ignore our needs elsewhere. Its just that they won't be getting the top player at those positions. Its not very likely that Buffalo will be able to address their needs with the best player at their biggest weekness every season. At this point will be impossible to convince me that there isn't at least one superstar available at every single position in every single NFL draft. Show me otherwise...
  5. This guy is the guy. He really is the elite talent. An absolute giant. He has good hands. He can Jump out of the gym. He has a weekly spot on sirius and he is definately the player in this draft with the most upside. He is good enough to start for us right now. He has all of the tools to develope into the greatest wr of all time. Look at his workout numbers: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=33065 here is some stuff I just randomly found, look at all of it: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/news/story?id=3182235 http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl...dy_james00.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afr3PoA9ibI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnKWmtkf8P4...feature=related Now, I'm not saying that the Bills should draft this guy at #11 but I wouldn't be upset if they did. Although I'm not entirely sure when it is, I've been trying to catch his weekly spot on sirius. So far, I have heard him twice. He is a very intelligent man. He is well spoken and the hosts agree that he has a very high ceiling. He has now focused his career on football after realizing that it is his true love after his freshman year. I believe that he is sincere in the statements he has made. He claims that he had a lot of growing up to do and he is a different man now than he was 2 years ago and to me, he has really silenced anybody that has done research trying to find the character flaw... He is a good man. He will be an elite wr for a long time. mark my words. Every team that passes on him will regret it. He is NOT injury prone as of now. If he is available to draft, I say get him. I'm smelling a trade up from our 2nd or a trade down from our 1st and this is our guy... LOL, I hope! Mainly, my point to the post was the potential he represents. As of right now, every wr entering the draft has some sort of issue. I also like Malcolm Kelly and Limus Sweed. Devin Thomas isn't a natural at catching the ball, at least as far as it appears to me. He doesn't use his fingertips like the other 3. Kelly has thigh issues and is already considered injury prone before ever stepping foot in the NFL. The same thing can be said about sweed, add the trouble beating press coverage. THere is coaching that needs to be done. My thoughts are that Hardy has had not only the least amount of coaching, but more than likely the worst players around him. He almost single handidly carried his team to a bowl game which is a huge accomplishment for IU. I really hope that we get a tall wr in rd 1 simply because of the need at TE in rd 2. In my opinion rd 2 is a very good value for a TE that can step in right away= Fred Davis The one thing that sticks out to me is that he has had the same Girlfriend for 9 years now. AS a superstar athlete, thats gotta be hard to do. She totally changed her tune when he was gonna get in trouble. As far as I know, they are still together and happy. James talked about how wonderful his child is and being a dad is. Then he touched on how happy and excited his family is right now. I believe he is engaged or married now... Also I found out that he was suspended from the team because he and his teamates went across state lines with some kegs, which are illegal in Indiana. He took all the blame and he was suspended for it. Here is a story about interviews at the combine he had: http://www.wthr.com/global/story.asp?s=7913456 Falstaff in Philly had this to say... Did you like James Lofton? You know why Green Bay traded him away? Sexual assault charge How about Cornelius Bennett? Sexual assault with 35 days in jail How about Bruce Smith? 2 time DUI + 2 time loser in substance testing Darryl Talley? Assault and DUI Thurman Thomas? Marijuana Damien Covington? Drugs and shot dead The list continues. let's not kid ourselves here. If in 10 years he had one physical altercation with a woman, admitted guilt, completed his program, showed contrition he's fine by me. The keg thing is stupid college crap and he stood up and took the blame for that too.
  6. Welcome to the board! Great first post. Look at more footage of Hardy! He is everything physically, he has charactor concerns. As far as specialized goes it doesn't get any more special than him...
  7. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d...mp;confirm=true In my humble opinion, PK is the best at what he does. WAY better than Mike Mayock and Hair Kiper, I am sure of that. There is some interesting talent in the later rds as well. Who is this simpson guy catching 40+td? The next small school steal?
  8. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story;jsessionid=...mp;confirm=true Yeah, Yeah, Yeah I know it just an opinion with some facts mixed in..... Good Stuff!
  9. Allen Wilson is the guy who drafted Brandon Flowers at #11 on NFL.com. LOL Allen Wilson=RJ
  10. http://www.realfootball365.com/index.php/a...les/bills/10880 I know, its just one man's opinion. He does write a daily article about the Bills, so he isn't uninformed like some writers. I agree with him. But, I can't say that I'm gonna be furious or the Bills are doomed if they draft something else. I would really like to see the Bills address this single biggest need first. Even if there is no trading partner.. If not, I'll still honor my tix
  11. I can see why Devin Thomas has climbed from a 2nd rd pick to the top WR in this years draft now that I have spent some time looking him over. He is very impressive to watch, and an amazing athlete. I haven't heard him speak. I question his intelligence only because the obvious reason. He was a Junior college transfer. Which doesn't mean he isn't the next Einstein.. He is a High risk reward player, defined by his meager 1 year of college production. His college coaches really wanted him to stay. He has posted outstanding postseason workouts that have highlighted his stunning athleticism and sent him soaring up the charts. Put up a record breaking season at Michigan State working himself from a #2 wr to the focal point of the offense. Has the NFL-type build with room to grow. He is an all around threat. He can run the reverse and return kickoffs as well as anybody. He has the absolute best RAC ability of all of the WRs taller than 6-1. Showed great hands in workouts using an exceptional short area burst and body control to catch anything near him. He does not shy from contact but remains very elusive. Jim Miller fromer NFL qb and radio analyst claims that Devin Thomas has all the tools to be a superstar WR. He covers the games for Michigan State and I heard an interview on sirius with him. He couldn't stop raving about the guy. He thinks that the bills will take him. He was invited to the combine and had a pro day, here are his numbers (note comments from Jauron mid-page): http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=67905 Here are his stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=183856 Here are some youtube highlights of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHbkz0IMIeA Here are some write ups about him: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...as_N.htm?csp=34 good read http://www.milehighreport.com/story/2008/4/7/215150/4343 A Must Read http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../803130395/1055 he is so impressive http://msuspartans.cstv.com/sports/m-footb...as_devin00.html official Msu plater page There is a good chance that This guy is on the Bills next season. Hopefully I'v provided some good insight for you to form your own opinion... I like this guy a lot. I still like the size of Hardy and Sweed. I'll bump their pages too.
  12. Oh yeah, I forget. Ok draft, the 3rd best DE or CB!
  13. That very nice, now draft him at #11
  14. part 1 good stuff, perfect video to get a feel for what they might do...
  15. I thought that rd2 was almost a must for a TE since the Bills would be very likely to have a choice from 2 out of the top 3 te in rd 2. Most likely there are 3-4 te drafted by our 3rd rd pick and you can bet that somebody good slips to rd 4. Since the Te class seems so deep I now think that it might be a really good thing if we draft best player available in rd 1. The problem is that it really puts a lot of pressure on getting production out of a wr that slips to rd 2. Realistically, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, Mario Manningham, Early Doucet, or Andre Caldwell could very well slip to the 2nd rd. Especially if the Bills don't draft a wr in rd 1. I'm very happy with any of the above players. As long as the Bills definately draft the best Te on the board soon after. Lets take a look at NFL.com te profiles. They are on the left. Players names can be seen in the middle of the nfl.com profiles. Matching Youtube videos (some are great some are ok) will be right beside them: http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/john-carlson?id=1966 http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/martellus-bennett?id=1062 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P0ljixzaGY http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/fred-davis?id=216 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlflpVhHD_I...feature=related http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/dustin-keller?id=1074 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O5zlZziMfQ http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/martin-rucker?id=308 http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/jermichael-finley?id=1072 http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/jacob-tamme?id=324 http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/kellen-davis?id=1066 Wow, I'm impressed with Dustin keller, Jermichael finley, and John Carlson I'd be all about drafting 2 te or 2 wr this year!
  16. I sure would be happy with him. Is he worth the 11th pick though? That is a tough question. By the time the draft comes, this is the guy that seems like the least risk at WR. I have my wr draft board with him at the top. It would go Sweed, Hardy, and Thomas with Sweed just a shade ahead of Hardy. Only because Limus has a better personality from what I've heard on sirius. Hardy, does seem to be more (some of you will really laugh at this but I believe it) of a family guy. I can see Sweed developing a closer bond with the team, and Hardy kinda just showing up to work. Both will be fantastic pros. All three are hard working. I just don't see the natural hands in Thomas. I'm gonna go over him later today or fri.. Hopefully he can change my mind. It will be very open, that I can promise.
  17. Here we go again. Yesterday, my post about James Hardy enraged a few posters. I would like to say that I just wanted to make sure that his talent was not overlooked because of character issues. I feel he is past that and some feel he isn't. I agree to disagree. Today I intend to do the same thing with Limas Sweed. He is often overlooked because of an injury to his hand that limited his senior season. I will admit, I do tend to notice the bright side of things. I just want you to know that I'm only trying to give some info that I've observed through hearing the young man speak and looking at highlights and reading of assessments, some of them I will provide. That being said, I really like Limus Sweed. Feel free to disagree, I won't try to change your mind... But I will provide some nice things to say about this (for what it's worth) good young man. Limas is a regular on Sirius. I've heard him talk 3 times for a total of 25 minutes. He is a high character player. Limas is very very funny. He is smart, quick with his answers, and absolutely loves football. He has been working out at the top NFL training complex for over a month. Working with NFL coaches on routes, getting off the press, finding the soft spots in the zones, and regaining the strength in his (previously at times) amazing hands. Both hosts agreed that Limas Sweed should benefit from staying in school and refining his skills. They think he will be instantly successful it given the chance. He measures in at a shade under 6-4, which is perfect for what the Bills need. Yesterday, sirius called him up for a surprise 5 minute spot on Malcolm Kelly's pro day results and he was hilarious. In saying that, I'd like to add that he is and was very mature about it. I think that Limas Sweed will be a fine pro. Perhaps he might be the first wr taken, and it may be the Buffalo Bills that take him. One thing to keep in mind is that he was hurt before his senior season even started and he played hurt because he is very committed to the team. He played until the pain was so unbearable he felt he couldn't be an assett to the team. At that time he found out that he had done more damage and needed surgery. I tend to look at his Junior numbers since he didn't have an experienced qb at the time and still dominated. Much like Hardy did at IU. Hopefully I've provided a little more insight on a player that we could possibly see in a Bills Uni. I will continue to profile possible picks, and will take requests... Although still not recovered, He was invited to the combine. Then had a very nice pro day. Here is his test results: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=8826 Here are two highlight reels from YouTube: Turn your volume down... lolhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8UQ2cZuHxw...feature=related there are a whole bunch more available, all pretty good... Bio: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/News/Articl...f_Comeback.aspx a little write up http://www.nfldraftdog.com/2008_nfl_draft/limas_sweed.htm little write up http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/ind...hange_well_id=2 surgery news
  18. Do you get the feeling that every team that passes on this guy is gonna regret it? He has special tools. It would be a great addition to our red zone offense. The Bills can get into the red-zone just fine. He could score 10 or more touchdowns evey season. What else does anyone want?
