Who said guarantee? You have a better shot at a franchise QB who is widely regarded as a top 5 pick. I doubt I am telling you something new here, unless you believe you have the skill to identify franchise QBs at any stage in the draft. If you did, I suppose you may be actually making those picks rather than posting on a message board though.

At a certain point in your professional life, and I truly hope you get there some day, you are not supposed to merely follow orders. Being a VP means you have a responsibility to the owner to tell him when he's making a mistake and convince him to do what's in the best interest of the franchise. A competent VP of Communications would be able to do this. -
Agree. Would be nice to have both. We only have 3 LBers under contract right now anyway. You find a way to start Klein, Brown and Brown and allow Ragland to find his fit in the scheme as he learns the defense and gets a full training camp under him. If he supplants one of the other guys (likely Preston Brown) then so be it.

At least try to be less willfully ignorant. You put people in a position to do their best or you don't. Whether or not Pegula is a passable public speaker (he is not) he should have been out there because that's simply what teams do. Indulging his need to not be out in public did Pegula no favors and didn't help him at all. -

No, but he is likely responsible for sending him out alone to look foolish. The VP of Communications should have stood up when that decision was made and said "no, everyone needs to be there and present a unified front". Berchtold was a yes man who indulged the people around him. You don't believe me just read the Tim Graham story about Berchtold cornering him for Doug Marrone. -
Yes cause your way has been working so well for 17 years. Do you have a string of "7-9 but at least we're not 3-13" pennants up in your living room? Do we get a special "not as bad as the other guys" trophy? Everyone rips on the Browns, but they are racking up draft picks and actually putting themselves in a position to find their QB of the future. The sad thing is we're not even "close" to a championship in any way, we are "close" to qualifying for a wildcard loss. You need a clutch QB to win in this league now, they do not need to be prolific and pass for a million yards a season, but they need to have that spark that can consistently move a team down the field when down in the fourth quarter of a winnable game, we don't have that and I don't see it readily available in free agency. So either stick with TT and draft someone soon, or play the young guys and see if they can do better. You bring in an old guy it better be as a backup cause nick Foles isn't winning a Super Bowl.

The real question is will he come to the media with sandwiches? -
The point being that we either use Tyrod for that purpose or just start Cardale, whom evidently everyone thinks needs to sit on the bench for 15 years before he's "ready" to play. There is no logic behind trading for Foles or some other mid-level guy to come in and be a caretaker. We have a QB who has been on an NFL roster for a year; if you don't believe in TT then start Cardale and get ready to draft a rd 1 QB this year or next.
-
Can we please stop with the illogical "we should trade for: x,y, z player cause they are mediocre and cheaper than Tyrod" foolishness. Bridge players are worthless, they are just good enough to get you 5-7 wins and keep you out of a top 5 pick and nowhere near good enough to get this team to a championship. If you don't believe TT can be "the guy", draft someone else to be "the guy" this year or next and play the rookie if we take one or Cardale this year if we wait til next year to draft one, he will either sink or swim and we will know what we have. I'm tired of all these half measures.

Since Whaley became GM has traded up in the draft, but he has not traded back a single time. -
Give this man all the points. Spot on

I see what you're saying, but trust isn't really limited to lobbing deep balls, which it seems you are referring to. Timing passes on short and intermediate routes require trust and he simply failed to make those throws. That's why he holds on to the ball too long. It makes our offense dangerously predictable. If a team can hold up in coverage once TT drops back, they don't need to worry about quick hits, they just need to stay relatively close to their receivers and TT will play defense for them by breaking the pocket or throwing out of bounds. That said, our offense last year did TT few favors. He needs to get out of the pocket so he can see the field better and be put in a position to succeed. Interestingly enough, bootlegs are a staple of the offense that Kubiak and Dennison typically ran. It's feasible that he could make significant strides in an offense that plays more to his strengths, but I'm not holding my breath.

Agreed. If someone is trading up it's for one of the top 2 WRs or a QB, every other position else has depth and isn't that top heavy. -
Agreed. But there is a difference between someone who makes the right reads and progresses by making less mistakes or someone who just needs to be trained out of having happy feet vs someone who consistently misses wide open receivers and refuses to throw with anticipation, which means he has poor timing and doesn't trust his receivers.

Who do you want to start at QB for the Bills in 2017?
ndirish1978 replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Romo is a pipe dream that, even should we get him, would get injured on his first drive but is the ONLY option that is better than or equal to Tyrod. Everything else is a half measure. -

All Florio does is stir things up. His website is as much gossip and opinion as it is news now.
