peerless price may have to retire
ROSCOE P. COE TRAIN replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Non-sense. Price's eye is fine. He had a simple stigmatism in it. He is fine. -
Terrell will catch 50 balls this season, as he is excellent, and the Pats hood winked the Bears for him. The Bears are WRs killers and Terrell's problems are not with routes or hands but with getting pigskins near him. he will blossom with givens and branch, and if there is an injury to one of them. great size...

the entire of this thread, if you go back and read - if that the 'model' you talk about is going to be ruined once the CBA leaves and hence, the salary cap is lifted. the cap protects wilson, once gone, wilson is up **** creek without a padel, thus he is crying bloody murder 3-4 years early. but the other owners will balk at this attempt, as they go forward and he is stuck in 1st gear -

You make a fine post, then finish pathetically with a conclusion that's immature. Jones and Synder "can deal with it?" They are the richest owners and are in teh big markets. They ARE IN THE DRIVER's SEAT - not wilson. They are making the league huge, not wilson. Wilson is in the minority now - this is NOT 1961. Read the N.Y. Giant's news clip on the front of the website. you will see that wilson is going to get buried with a negative backlash re: his views and when the cap is lifted will have a hard time fielding a winnig team. -

true, but the bonus - no matter how you pay it out - counts towards the cap. the CAP keeps the lesser market teams competive, simple as that. synder and gibbs and jones are making money on their teams and wilson wants that money - even though he needs non of it to operate his club under the cap. -

indeed, but synder and jones are not going to agree to such a deal - as they are spending the money TODAY - to produce a winner in winner in years when and IF the cba does not provide a cap to protect the small teams (buffalo). so why should synder worry about wilson NOW? he owes wilson nothing. what money synder makes is his money and if the league wants to amend the CBA in a few years then they can cross that bridge when they get there. but for wilson to start sticking his hands in other owner's pockets before is tortious IMO. what standing does he have to do so? jones and gibbs have NASCAR nhl logo cars coming this season. ralph wilson deserves some of this cash? -

all the posters have made good points. but one has to remember that there IS A SALARY CAP in place right now - and thus, wilson has is only premptively trying to get reveniews if and when the slary cap disolves - if and when the CBA disolves. right now, jones and sheieder make their money their own way, and ralph wants some of that cash. but wilson's team is protected with the league wide salary cap, so those monies brought on by other owners should be deemed unnecessary for him to get. right? -
McGahee Does Not Practice
ROSCOE P. COE TRAIN replied to Sound_n_Fury's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ex-Canes return to practice in Miami Former Hurricanes in the NFL have a habit of returning to their alma mater during the offseason. They prefer to train at the University of Miami instead of practicing with current teammates or coaches. That is the kind of faith athletes have in the strength and conditioning program at Miami. Now young players from other schools have gotten into the routine. Two such players who made an appearance at UM's Hecht Athletic Center this year are the Green Bay Packers' Javon Walker (Florida State) and the New York Giants' Plaxico Burress (Michigan State). Both wide receivers are clients of agent Drew Rosenhaus, who is notorious for representing former Canes. An impressive list of UM products who worked out in Coral Gables this year includes: - Green Bay Packers TE Bubba Franks - Buffalo Bills RB Willis McGahee - Washington Redskins WR Santana Moss - Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis - Washington Redskins FS Sean Taylor - New York Giants TE Jeremy Shockey - Indianapolis Colts RB Edgerrin James The closed sessions are run by UM strength coach Andreu Swasey and are administered separately from current Hurricanes. The regiment has NFL players working out on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning at 11 am ET. They lift weights, run sprints, and make their way through a sandbox. To improve explosiveness, athletes do shuttle runs, practice high-stepping, and tip-toe through ladders. They play informal basketball games to aid their fitness level. Though some NFL coaches wish young stars would exercise under the guidance of their employers, most respect the professional atmosphere fostered by head coach Larry Coker and his staff. They also understand the tradition at the University of Miami, which began with players returning in the early 90's to mentor young Hurricanes, is unlikely to end soon. -
D.C. radio slams Ralph Wilson

i read your post above, you are right on point and see exactly what is going on re: both sides of this issue. i think both sides argument has merit. it is not dan scheider's fault that ralph wilson 50 years ago created the AFL. this is not the mafia where respect is given 100 years later to the 'Dons' of old. but if you are wilson, and this is kind of what you are saying, teams have to think about review sharing when the CBA runs out - and sharing is limited and the caps for teams are lifted and it is a spending spree. but the cap being lifted and a spending spree might never happen. ralph is trying to perform a classic premptory challenge to ensure that he does not get screwed when the CBA runs out. -

In making the point to blast Ralph, Weinstein stated that Scheider and Gibbs are going to put a Redskins logo on a NASCAR vehicle and J. JOnes is buying a car too and that Wilson will want a part of that reveniew that these owners like this are making. Is Wilson's angle that he helped build the league, thus he is entitled to any types of royaties? i can think of no other rationale by wilson to demand that he get royalties of these other owner's marketing of THEIR teams, unrelated to the basic TV sharing agreement. strange... -
Two nights ago, Bram Weinstien (Tony Cornheiser's) co-hort and moderator of his own D.C. prime time sports radio show (980 am) blasted Wilson and called him an "idiot" and a guy "wants to line his pockets". It was unreal, for about 10 minutes he went off on him and the Buff News article re: Wilson wanting reviewing profit sharing for all reveniew. Bram said that Wilson wants part of Danny Sheidner's person profits and is not entitled to them. Kind of has a point. I have never heard Ralph get blasted like this, what an insult to one of the great owners. No respect. Calls Ralph and "idiot?" Did anyone else hear this?

sabans are football masterminds and good people. miami will see this. maimi will establish a power running game, an active defense and great special teams. in addition, they will create a new image - one that is competitive and energetic. buffalo is going to stuggle to finish 3rd in our conf. the jets, pats adn fins are all looking up... -

terrell owens abused him about 3 yrs ago in san fran. i can name 12 guy WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than winfield. respond and i'll write them down. AW is a great tackler, but give me a break on the "best corner" stuff. in buffalo - he played in bend but don't break wde phillips then ted cottrell cover 2 - safety help -- NO MAN COVERAGE. now cottrell is back with AW in minnisota and winfield will have help over the top all game long again. great corners are the guys who can cover all game in solo coverage IMO. -
i dont think that there is any doubt that these two are money hungry - and reaady to do whateverittakes to get their money. rosenhaus is a disgrace - a true disgrace. and willis has that hurrician mentality - "pay me or trade me". but hey, we use willis this season and run him into the ground and get our moneys worth. if he does not break - we francise him. if he does, then we get another log and throw it on the fire. i mean, great players come adn go, no team or fan should ahve to worry about these gusy alternative motives. t. owens is a piece of ****.
