  1. In the continuing saga of far fetched trade deals, I just wonder if the Eagles might be considering trading Sam Bradford to the Bills for EJ Manuel if Chip Kelly can not swing a deal to acquire Marcus Mariotta. Despite what Chip Kelly says, many doubt that Bradford will ever wear an Eagles' uniform. He just does not fit the Eagles offense. Many think that the only reason Kelly made the trade is because he wants to use Bradford as a chip to acquire Mariotta.... Only time will tell if this works out, but if this deal falls through, perhaps the Eagles and Bills could do a another swap that would include Bradford for Manuel. I seem to remember EJ saying on his draft day that the Eagles and Bills were among the teams that expressed the most intrest in him. Manuel's mobility would seem to make him a better fit for the Eagles offense... Also, there was plenty written a few weeks back about how the Bills were looking into a trade for Bradford... If true, this never worked out because the Bills didn't have much to offer and the Rams wanted Foles... Maybe the Bills and Eagles talked about such a trade earlier but Kelly was hesitant to pull the trigger because he still covets Mariotta.... This is just a theory, but the way things have gone this year, it wouldn't surprise me...
  2. I seem to remember EJ saying that the Jets and the Eagles werethe two other teams that expressed the most interest in drafting him besides the Bills. Sometimes I think that Chip Kelly was ready to draft EJ in round 2, and that Bills spoiled his plans when they snatched Manuel in round 1. EJ seems to have all the tools for Kelly's offense. Kelly is settling for Vick, but it seems unlikely that Vick can last more than a couple weeks more before he is knocked out with an injury. As good as Vick is, he is too aggressive when he runs and destined for injury. Next in line are Nick Foles and Matt Bradley. Not bad qbs, but they do not fit the Eagles's offense at all. I'm thrilled that EJ is a Bill and hopeful that his talents will come big time in a Bills uniform...
  3. In Philadelphia, Andy Reid had a history of trading the first round pick for multiple picks. Don't be surprised if the Chiefs trade the top pick to somebody who really wants Geno Smith. The Chiefs gave up a 2nd round pick for Alex Smith and would probably love to get a 2nd rounder back.
  4. Just some random thinking here, but why not hire Lovie Smith as head coach, get Hue Jackson as OC and draft EJ Manuel.... Yes, I realize EJ Manuel would be a bit of a reach at 8, but he has so much talent. Put him a positive environment with Lovie Smith as his head coach and Hue as his teacher, it could lead to a new era of success for the Bills...
  5. My top pick is Ray Horton, who is currently DC for the Cardinals. He has experience working as a coach under Dick LeBeau in Pittsburgh. He would create a very aggressive defense and give the team a good attitude...I'm hoping Doug Whaley gets moved up to GM and selects Horton. Whaley and Horton were in Pittsburgh together so there is a connection...
  6. I say go after Todd Bowles, who is now coaching dbs in Philadelphia. He's got the experience, smarts and leadership qualities to be great NFL coach. No more retreads and no big egos please.
  7. With Ndamukong Suh and Corey Williams facing the Bills o-line this week, it may not require a coach's decision to get Brohm on the field. Fitz is tough, but ... ouch!
  8. If Nix/Gaily did not think Levi Brown was good enough to keep on the practice squad, why do they suddenly think he is good enough to put on the active roster? Weren't there better options out there on other teams' practice squads or free agents? Troy Smith is a name that intrigues me, but there must have been other options too. I'm still having a tough time figuring out the thinking of Nix and Chan. Very confused and frustrated with this organization.
  9. How about Troy Smith? Is he still out there?
  10. I kinda trust Chan's judgment of qbs, and if Brohm was not good enough to beat out Trent or Fitzpatrick, he can not be that good of a qb. Let's go get Troy Smith and put him on the roster. Chan's offensive mind might do wonders with a mobile guy like Troy.
  11. Not a surprise at all. Kinda think he might be a fun QB to put on the Bills' roster as a 3rd stringer rather than Brohm. Gailey could have some fun with him on the offenes
  12. Thanks for posting this. The more I hear of Chan, the more I like him, but I still think the o-line is going to the downfall of this team. I just hope they see something that nobody else does in getting that line to work.
  13. Discusion of who will be the top three qbs seems fruitless. Has everybody forgotten that our offensive line is still pretty bad and inexperienced? C'mon now, you gotta almost expect that at least one of our qbs gets crushed and put on the IR during preseason. That would seem to make the answer simple. The only complication I see is that Chan and Nix may have their eyes on a few other qbs from other teams that they are hoping to pick up off the waiver wire.
  14. This tweet from Ravens Insider and passed by Buffalo Rumblings: Fullback Kyle Eckel worked out for the Buffalo Bills today, according to a league source. (sorry it was already posted)
  15. This statement says it all. Clausen is not a sure thing, but he could be pretty darn good.
  16. Gotta take Claussen if he is there at nine. He's got the tools, attitude and experience in the pro set. Make him the starter from day one and let Chan do his magic. Chan has made much lesser qbs look pretty good. Give him a qb like Claussen and who knows, maybe good things will start to happen. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  17. Taking Claussen at nine is a no brainer. I can not believe that Shanahan would pass him up, but if he does and nobody makes big trade to move ahead the Bills, Nix has got to take him. Big arm, incredible accuracy, experience in a pro style offense and a cocky attitude. Make him the pick and make him the starter from Day One. The beginning of a new era with Buffalo's first franchise qb since Kelly. Though Rang and Zukers would be OK.
  18. Enough already please. As any Bills fan who lives in the Philadelphia market can tell you, McNabb is clearly not the answer to a rebuilding team like the Bills. Without an offensive line, McNabb will be no better than Trent or Ryan. The guy is no longer mobile. When under pressure, McNabb's accuracy and decision-making skills are awful. We can not afford to give up a second or even third round pick for McNabb. I actually have faith that Buddy Nix and Chan Gaily will not let this happen. They have got to know that McNabb is not their savior. No, no, no.
  19. Here we go again with the Stadium Wall snobs getting all upset about somebody posting a topic that has already been discussed. You guys ought to lighten up. Believe it or not, there are an awful lot of Bills fans out there who don't check this board 20 times a day. Grow up please... If you are too cool to read a topic again, don't read it, but your smug comments do nothing but display your ignorance.
  20. Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State Football, Philadelphia 76ers
  21. Don't be surprised if Bobbby Avril and the Eagles end up with at least Wendling.
  22. Nothing major here, but ESPN's Sal Paolantonio was on Philly radio talking mostly Eagles stuff this afternoon. Regarding Vick, he said the Eagles had given Vick's agent permission to seek a trade. He said the Eagles are not going to keep Vick and that they hope to get some kind of trade, but the price would be low. Sal said Vick desperately wants to go to a team where he has an opportunity to start. Sal said Buffalo and the Cards were the two teams where Vick could become a starter next year. He said Vick's agent has been in contact with the Bills. Regarding McNabb, Sal indicated the Eagles would trade McNabb if they can get somebody to surrender a first round pick, but Sal said he can not imagine any team giving up a first rounder. If the Eagles do not get a first round pick, Sal said he could see McNabb back with the Eagles.
  23. I remember him from his college years, and there was just something about the way he played with the Jets that impressed me. His competitiveness, strong arm and experience in colder weather are traits I like. He is not from Calif. and has traits that Trent lacks. Not saying he would be the next star qb, but I think he could be worth a look compared to other free agents. My first choice is to grab Bradford or Claussen in Round 1, but I'm not impressed with other draft prospects or free agents.
  24. Gunther Cunningham is still the dc for the Detroit Lions. I don't think he would be leaving that job
