If the shoe was on the other foot and the Bills traded for Diggs, did him a favor and tore up his deal and gave him a 1 year contract, and he didn’t show up for OTA’s, I’d be a teeny bit perturbed.

I don't think Diggs skipping OTA's with the Bills was a big deal as he had developed good chemistry with Allen.  But on a new team with a new QB is more a big deal.  But he basically has a one year contract so little need as he can walk after 2024.

Either way to me is a good thing.  If he walks who are they replacing him with, likely will be another Andy Dalton type as they are much easier to find than an Allen or Mahomes, or even to do as well as to find another Tua they'd be lucky.

Was it 5 or 6 QB's drafted in the 1st round.  What's the over/under on the number of them who'll earn a 2nd contract with the team that drafted them?

Somebody must have heard me talking about this the other day as the Athletic just did an article on this.  Of the 31% 3rd drafted QB's Allen is one of them, interestingly so is Big Ben whom Allen is sometimes compared too

Dumb for him to hold out. I'm sure Miami's FO really doesnt want to give him $50-60M/year.

Maybe that's the issue. The offers from the Dolphins are lower than he expected.

If I were the Dolphins, I'd let him walk. But as a Bills fan I hope he gets himself a big contract there.

Not much of a golfer, but I could tote your bag. Washing your balls is out of the question.

    Let me know.

With a handle like Stinky Finger, you should be washing balls!

Haven't played Byrncliff in about 30 years.  The one thing I remember is not a bit of sand anywhere, but water on just about every hole in some fashion, may just be a little creek running across fairway, or a large pond.

I want Hyde as a backup only.  Personally I would offer the man a coaching position.  Who better to help the young, new safeties?

Interesting that they signed this guy the same day an article came out saying Hyde will sign only with Buffalo or retire!

They could do that at least for training camp, see how he compares to the others, if not good then cut him.  He's be a help for those 6 weeks or so.

5 primetime games and another national TV broadcast against the Chiefs...

    And 2 other 4:05/4:25 games...

    Plus potential flexes...

The mostly 1pm schedule remains elusive.

4:05 games are local only for the most part.   That week the nationally broadcast game will be on the other network starting at 4:25.  A handful of other cities will pickup the 4:05 game, mainly ones in the home and away cities of teams with 1:00 starts

The Buffalo News is messed up.  I called because my online account, rather than renewing, was showing as permanently stopped.  I called the number and the gal in the call center said that they were doing system upgrades that temporarily cancelled everyone's subscription.  I was able to access the e-edition on my phone, but hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Ok so that may explain what happened.

lol, this trade and subsequent fallout just gets better and better. set the franchise back years, maybe a decade. they are so screwed.

Long term, agree with cause problems.  But if Rodgers can stay healthy and puts one great season together, you never know??

Anyone complaining about CAP space next year...

Overthecap projects us at $14m next season.

If Buffalo rolls over the Tre White extension without doing anything with it next month minus paying the rookie class we get about $9m.

Plus everyone thinks we're cutting Von next offseason... if we do we get $8.5m in CAP savings.

Over $31m in CAP space right there.

Plus... could still easily restructure Oliver, Taron and Josh for a lot more money.

And as far as FA go... the big one is really only Spencer Brown.

Beane has set this team up for the future!

Last few seasons the overall CAP number has always been higher than projected a year out.  So taking that into account, plus a couple of surprise cuts or maybe not a surprise based on how they play in 2024 season plus restructures, overall will end up with considerably more space than projected now.

We switched to YTTV last year from DirectTV. No complaints for the most part. However, I think it’s ridiculous to pay for the Sunday Ticket but not really able to watch all the games as now I need to pay for Prime for TNF and even Peakon. If I’m paying full price for the Ticket I shouldn’t have to pay additional to watch it on other streaming platforms.

It is called Sunday Ticket, not Thursday Night or Saturday Night Ticket.  These other networks paid a lot more money for those packages.  I'm sure YTTV could have also bid and got those games too if they really wanted, but instead of paying $289 to renew, it may have been $389!

I did renew yesterday. With DTV could always expect a better deal by waiting, not sure that is as likely to happen with YTTV, don't believe that happened last year either.  Maybe they realize, once they do that everyone will wait and many never sign up. By sticking with one price, it shows people there's no reason to wait. Will see??

Always thought Fowler provided good if not great coverage and insight on a variety of nfl subjects,  so I was happy to see this write up on our 4th round RB.

Also had no clue he was only the 3rd 4th round pick Beane has made here, with the 2 others being Taron and Gabe, some great value for the 4th round. Will Ray Ray continue the trend?

So Beane tends to pick Davis's in the 4th round.  And if not a Davis at least a common name like Johnson.  No Ulofoshio's in the 4th, ever!

  12. Was reading an article today and came across this quote:

XXX  is known for having a boisterous personality at times, and his past teams have largely accepted it when he has been a successful face of their franchise. But historically, as team success starts to wear off, so does teams’ patience for some of XXX ’s idiosyncrasies.

This was actually about Jimmy Butler of the Heat, but could easily substitute Diggs name here and tell the same story.

Having said that would still vote for Diggs being best #14, but not heartbroken that he's gone.

Maybe I missed it....do we somehow know how the Bills had Worthy, Parsail, Legette and Coleman stacked on their board?

No but the fact that they didn't take Worthy and let the Chiefs have him kind of tells me they didn't want him. and if they traded down to 32, kind of tells me they viewed the other 3 fairly close and even they didn't get their first choice of the 3, they were close enough in rankings that they'd take their 2nd or 3even 3rd choice in exchange for extra picks.

But the question was how to stop the Chiefs from getting who they wanted which appears was Worthy, and maybe I missed that part how were the Bills supposed to prevent that other than drafting a guy they clearly didn't want?

I wish they would have c***blocked the Chiefs instead

I am not one to care about this but I will ask the question.   Why didn’t they cockblock the chiefs?    Bottom line the bills did what they felt was right for them in the trades they made and did I not make.

Because they couldn't.  Other than the Bills taking Worthy themselves, how could they have prevented KC from trading with someone else at 29 or 30.  The Bills could have taken Coleman at 28, KC could have still got Worthy at 32 or maybe they'd have to have traded up.  Either way the Bills got picks out of the deal and the player they wanted.

As someone else also pointed out, if they traded back more than one slot, they may have come away with no one they wanted.  For all we know the deal with NE may have only happened if Coleman had been selected prior and Bills weren't able to get who they wanted, otherwise can't see why they'd have gone back to 34.

I am more interested in seeing how he stands up to the LOS bumping and aggressive tackling of NFL DBs. Does his body hold up? Will he keep holding on to the ball after hits?

I didn't wish injury on anyone of course but the small frame will be an issue. I think he will still make a few highlight plays, hopefully not against us

The other thing to is if the hits leave a little soreness in his rib area or somewhere else, how will that translate to his speed?  Likely take a couple tenths off to the point Coleman could beat him in a race.

Also have to wonder how much training he put into the 40  time at the combine so he was primed for that as knew his best chance at getting drafted high was going to be based on his 40 time.  Now in regular football mode, things are different.   Before he pulled the hammy, could he have gone out there in their mini camp and run the same time, I'd bet not

  16. He's going to sign a contract at home plate during his upcoming softball game.

Actually just read an article somewhere suggesting he will sign here after June 1st.  The fact that he hasn't done anything tells me he hasn't ruled out coming back.  Maybe waits until after mini camp?

That’s not what I said. If a receiver can consistently get open but the qb can’t get them the ball it doesn’t mean the receiver is bad. Think Zack Wilson with Garrett Wilson. With a marginal qb those open opportunities would be completed. Think Dhop with Hopkins or Kyler Murray.

What you said about all Allen needed was Diggs to get open and he’d get him the ball is just competent qb work is my point. Elite QBs would elevate a receiver. I.E. throw his guy open. Or make an accurate throw even if he’s cover where only the receiver has a chance at it. Those things make marginal receivers seem elite while the former make marginal QBs seem elite. That was the distinction I was making.

Again not saying Allen doesn’t do that. I was just making a distinction from your receivers getting open comment because it’s the offseason and I’m bored.

OK and maybe I wasn't completely clear either in my original post.  My point is a top QB like Allen can make what is considered a mediocre WR look like a Diggs or DHop.  That's where teams can get themselves in trouble too, a WR on a team like Buffalo or KC is a FA and the Jets sign him with Zack Wilson at QB and are disappointed when he doesn't put up the same big numbers.  Certainly a guy like Diggs is actually good, when he wants to be but not all.

That’s just it. I realize Bean has his plan, but don’t you think Roman Wilson at 60 is a good bet to be one of our top 4 and done a lot for the team?

Beane had other things prioritized higher than a second receiver. Not what I would have done. We shall see…

There was an article I read about a week prior to the draft that basically said drafting two WR's particularly both high is not a smart thing to do.  You end up with two players, neither of which is given enough time and TLC to develop.  Rookies take more care than a vet does.  If you push one ahead, then you end up 2 or 3 years from now not knowing if one of really has it or not.

Taking it one step further, having 2 rookies on a team that is still going to be good and compete for the AFC east title doesn't help the team much either.  Better off playing Shakir, Samuel, Coleman, and Kincaid and have a vet backup or two than a 2nd rookie who will struggle due to limited opportunities.

Not that I don’t agree but isn’t a receiver that can consistently ‘get open’ be top 10 regardless of who the qb is?

You think Diggs or Hill could put up top 10 stats wit ha guy like say Zack Wilson or Mac Jones at QB?  Think there'd be a pretty big drop off.

    • Agree 1
  19. I think have a top QB like Allen can make a WR who isn't considered top 10 look like he's all Pro.  For those reasons I'm not as worried about the WR group as many here.

Recall what supposedly told Diggs when he first got here, just get open and catch the ball, I don't care about anything else.  Can see that being the case this year again too.  Now admittedly with a rookie , the knowing how to get open at the NFL level can be a bit tougher than he may think, may take some time whomever it was.

My thoughts also...but the discount for DT on YTTV is the 16th, but it doesn't give a time like midnight or something else.

OK you're right, it does expire the 16th, I was thinking it expired on Tuesday the 14th.  In that case no idea on the release.

Kind of puzzling as to why they don't advertise the day way ahead to attract viewers unless the schedule is so complicated with last minute tweaks that  they themselves don't know when it will be ready for release until only a few days prior??
