  1. I was talking about baseball versus soccer. Saying baseball is boring but soccer is awesome is about as laughable as it gets. If Rohnaldinho or Messi had real skills and coordination, they'd play real sports like football or hockey, and not kickball. Soccer is the only sport where the game is exactly the same if you're watching 5 year olds play it or watching the top leagues play it. A bunch of people chasing a ball around a giant field, lots of falling, and sometimes the ball goes into the net.
  2. That'd be wrong, kinda like the rest of your Miller take. http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=24965
  3. So baseball is boring, but you enjoy a bunch of grown men (who can't keep time) run around for a couple of hours and score 1 time every 3 games, while they flop and whine like giant crybabies if someone comes within 3 feet of them? At least baseball requires skill. Soccer is for those too uncoordinated to use their hands in real sports.
  4. The idiocy in this thread has reached epic proportions. I mean, the NHL just hands out Vezina trophies to "average" goalies all the time, right?. Most "average" goalies are considered one of the best in the game by the entire league (and world for that matter). Hopefully, in the future, Enroth can continue to develop to a point where he can start 20 games per season, giving Miller some real rest, and thereby having a fresh Miller ready for a playoff run.
  5. bump - and can i possibly get this pinned?
  6. R.Rich's annual 3-round mock draft will start tomorrow. Please check the draft forum for the selection times, and when you are on the clock, post your selection! It's that time again, time to sign up for the 2011 version of R. Rich's annual 3 round mock draft. Rich has been busy so i'm giving him a hand getting things up and running. The draft will take place in the "mock draft" subforum of the college football board. To sign up, use the link below and select your team! I'm hoping to complete sign up by the end of this week. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/128641-r-richs-2011-tbd-mock-draft-sign-up/
  7. Its that time again, time for R. Rich's 2011 TBD 3-round Mock draft! The rules are simple. Pick a team you'd like to represent, and make their selections when they are on the clock. Buffalo Bills selections will be done via a TBD vote (on the main page). I'm hoping to complete sign-up this week and perhaps start the draft next week. The draft will usually take 5-7 days to complete. Since we're not in a lockout, trades of pick and players are allowed, but must be agreed upon by both parties. Here's the current sign-up list: (I'll start things off by taking my usual, the Buccs) 1. Carolina - jboyst62 2. Denver - Thoner7 3. Buffalo - TBD vote 4. Cincinnati - Bangarang 5. Arizona - Boom Jam 6. Cleveland - The Black Mamba 7. San Francisco - Astrobot 8. Tennessee - tennesseeboy 9. Dallas - ans4e64 10. Washington - Why so serious 11. Houston - ans4e64 12. 8. Great win! I bet all you guys wanting Enroth to start also thought Reich should start over Kelly.
  9. Did you get clearance from my agent to use that quote?
  10. Florence wants out of Buffalo. At season's end he said he was excited about being a FA and being able to test the market.
  11. Why do people believe that having the injunction is good for football? They claim that it will force the owners back to the table, but if the players win, why would they be more likely to negotiate? They'll rest on their laurels and push for more court wins instead of returning to the table. Conversely, if the judge upholds the injunction, won't that effectively force the players back to the table? This is preferrable, since it was the players that left negotiations in the first place. De Smith wants this settled in court, so the best case scenario is for the courts to uphold the injunction, declare decertification a sham, and force the players back to the negotiating table.
  12. good post. In 10 years from now, the league won't be any worse because Manning and Brady are no longer playing. We'll be following the next set of superstars. The players are replaceable. The owners/league aren't.
  13. I'm shocked you actually take the time to read Hplarrm's middling, mindless, meandering drivel.
  14. Ken Schrager on Fox has the Bills taking Dareus and Ponder at 3/34. I'd be much happier with that then with the crap walter spews out.
  15. When you can't defend your point, or counter someone else's, always go after typos and grammatical errors, or claim they have a "man crush"
  16. Miller can stop the run. Gailey said so himself during senior bowl week. There's more to stopping the run that being a fat piece of crap, but since you didn't see it posted on a youtube video, i don't expect you to understand those nuances.
  17. If you look at the top 10 OLB sack leaders from the NFL last year, fully half of them weigh 255 lbs or less. So you are saying that Von Miller isn't going to be good simply because he currently weighs 9 pounds less? OLBs don't need to be 265+ to be successful pass rushers.
  18. Thought it was a pretty good show. As you said, there's definitely a line drawn between the talented and the untalented. Pia was fantastic as usual. My girlfriend has come to grips that i'd leave her for Pia given the chance. I thought Casey did a really good job last night after butchering the past few. Thia/tourette's boy/stefano/GBG/naima still all suck and need to go immediately. Lauren did really well tho. I don't think she can win but she's holding her own. Scotty...i like scotty, because he's got the early-mid-90s country sound that i grew up with. I wish he'd get kicked off if for no other reason than so he can go to Nashville and start recording. Which brings me to... Haley. I've been a big haley detractor in the past, but she stole the show last night. She did a hell of a job with Benny and the Jets. I may even go and download it. She's like a fungus in that I don't necessarily want her there, and i dont think i like it, but she's definitely growing on me. Every week my girl tells me that i secretly like Haley and just dont know it yet...and for the first time she may be right.
  19. Maybe i'm waaaaaay off base here, but didn't Bill Polian just draft joseph Addai in round 1 in 2006, followed by Donald Brown in round 1 in 2009? Both of whom are still on the team? But he'd never spend 1, let alone 2 picks on 1st round RBs, right?
  20. Planning IN CASE OF a lockout is not the same as planning TO lockout. The owners were making plans in case (they correctly predicted), the ignorant asshat demaurice would not want to bargain and wanted to go the litigation route all along. Remember, the owners were negotiating until the very end. They were the ones giving in, and changing their offer. It was the players standing fast (because they had no intent to ever strike a deal). The PLAYERS left the negotiating table and subsequently did their sham "decertification." At that point, the owners had no other alternatives but to lock out them out. The players brought them on themselves. They could have stayed until the last hour trying to get a deal done. But again, striking a deal was never their plan. Douchebag was intent on taking this to litigation from the second he was elected by the NFLPA.
  21. I think it was a combination of having some underachieving older WRs with the new guys. Bert Reed was solid, and then all of a sudden became inconsistent as all hell last season. He made some highlight reel plays and then would drop the next 2 passes. Taiwan Easterling is playing baseball down here as well, and his future in that is probably higher in that than football, so his main focus is elsewhere. Willie Haulstead looked great as a young kid this season, and when teams took him out of the game, the others refused to step up. The rest were young guys trying to grasp the offense and adjust to the college game. There was literally a game where ponder had 10 incompletes, and 8 of them were flat out drops. As for the Oklahoma game, i'm not going to sugar coat it, but this is also a caveat: That was the single worst game Ponder played while at FSU. So yes, it was a bad game, but simply judging him solely on that game is idiotic. +1
  22. I won't accept anything less than 2500 yards rushing.
  23. Sorry, the rapture happend last year. Did you miss the news headlines? 4 old ladies in south dakota just up and disappeared. The rest of us are just SOL i guess.
  24. I agree with you in that i'd rather have him in the 3rd. I think 34 is a bit too high for him, considering our other needs. But i'm not sure where you think he struggled under pressure or made decisions. He made some stupid throws at times, but bad football decisions were not at all his MO.
  25. Thats actually a really solid write-up of Ponder's positives and negatives. 2 more things of note are that Jimbo trusted Ponder enough to let him audible at the LOS...the first QB Jimbo's ever let do that during all his years of coaching. Also, ouor WRs were very bad last season, and it definitely affected Ponder. They simply couldn't be trusted. We had some skilled young guys that were still digesting the offense, and a couple of unreliable juniors/seniors. Also, for those worried about "FSU QBs," Ponder is the first QB from FSU to be entirely coached by Jimbo Fisher. Bobby Bowden and the FSU offense philosophy of old had nothing to do with Ponder. Fisher was in charge, and the offense was completely different.
