  1. You're just big boned.
  2. Nope, sorry, they booted his twangy ass
  3. Hollywood week is my favorite part of the season. That's when all hell breaks loose..makes for good tv
  4. I'm probably right in the middle of you and your wife...figuratively speaking, of course If the kid didn't grow at all, I'd find him incredibly annoying. Just like Lambert got on my nerves with all the screeching, the same would happen with this kid. BUT, if he can learn the art of subtlety and not blare out every note, I think there's potential. Besides, how can you not root for a kid who has Tourettes AND assburgers? lol But yeah, you put fire girl in front a nice jazz quartet or some sort of acoustic arrangement, she'll knock it out of the park. I don't think the masses will be that crazy for her, but that's okay...those of us who have broader taste in music know how good she is
  5. I liked her a lot...I also really liked the girl whose house burned down. The panel was mixed about her, but when she sang the 2nd song (with the geee-tar) I thought she sounded really good. I'm a big singer/songwriter fan, and I could see her doing a Suzanne Vega type thing. Her voice was very distinct. The last kid was like a straight version of Adam Lambert. He was doing a lot of screaming, but the raw materials are there for sure. If someone can coach him properly this season and reign in that voice a bit, that kid could really be good.
  6. Ah okay, thank you for clarifying...so the OP is at the top of the tool hierarchy then...got it. Sorry to interrupt...carry on
  7. I'm confused...are we saying a-rod IS a tool or is NOT a tool? Or does this pertain only to when he gets his arse wiped? I'm lost...
  8. Geesh, I forgot all about that channel...I'll have to check that out, thanks! Winter's Bone had some of the best acting I've seen in a while. I hope that some of that cast gets attention at the Oscars, cause they deserve it for sure. Loved True Grit
  9. I love when theaters do stuff like this... AMC Marathon Info
  10. That is so awesome that you get to do stuff like that for your career...being involved with tv and movies would be like a dream job! I'm much more of an audio guy than a video guy, and I believe wholeheartedly that the audio can make a film so much more visceral and immersive. I just can't imagine watching a film like Cloverfield on a regular tv on cable or something. Without the audio aspect being allowed to shine, the movie just is less of an experience. But yeah, those guys and gals who worked on Cloverfield knew what they were doing, and people such as myself truly appreciate their efforts and attention to detail
  11. Whoever was responsible for the sound editing on the film deserved a raise...if it was that intense in my little HT room, I can only imagine how awesome it was in theaters
  12. If nothing else, he seems like a character. I couldn't tell if he had a naturally good voice or if he just sort of imitated Ray well, you know? I'm glad the auditions are over this week...Hollywood week rules
  13. I like McCarthy, but GB's success is mainly due to a GM who has found a way to acquire solid, productive depth in a climate where that's not supposed to be possible. Three years ago Brett Favre looked at the young talent on that team and called it the most talented team he's ever been a part of. That played a big role in his decision to un-retire.
  14. Three years ago I was sitting in this room, and it was a fantastic experience. If you look just next to the speaker on the right, that black box is one of the most powerful consumer subwoofers you can buy. That room was about 16x12 with a peaked ceiling. When that monster hit the screen and started throwing sh*t all over the place, it was one of the best times I've ever had in my HT. I loved every minute of that movie.
  15. Cloverfield is in my top ten of all time most intense experiences in my home theater. I thought that movie was awesome
  16. I don't mind lex luthor being in the film, but it just seems like the story arc is almost the same every time. I'm just hoping not to see the same thing again, except with new actors. Lex Luthor kidnaps girl...Lex Luthor obtains super awesome missle thing to blow up the world...Superman finds way to save the day...blah blah blah. Given the extensive history of the franchise, there has got to be a fresher take available. As much as I thought Brandon Routh did a good job, I was bored through most of the most recent Superman film.
  17. You guys are the ones I think about whenever I see someone complaining about the pledge of allegiance, our country's heritage, patriotism, etc. I was not able to serve our country due to physical reasons, but my family is overflowing with proud vets dating back to WWI and WWII. People have lost sight of the sacrifices that were made in order to provide for the freedoms we have today and it makes me physically ill at times. Even worse, in appreciation for all that those have put themselves in harms way to protect us - both past and present - our nation repays that by continuing to lose sight of itself. We are becoming a nation of illiterates. We're in the process of bankrupting ourselves. We have complete idiots running for and being elected to congress. Our political system is more concerned with saving face and selfish endeavors than they are doing something for the good of America. It's not right. And it's disgraceful that we have taken such poor care of the land that so many have fought and died for so that we might have better futures. And now we have people taking issue with the declaration of independence being recited before the super bowl, debating if it was out of place or not, etc. It's never out of place. It's always appropriate. And it's a shame that people have lost sight of that.
  18. I thought for sure Brandon Routh would pick up where C.Reeve left off, and that he'd be the man of steel for years to come. That whole thing was just a train wreck. I don't know what they were thinking when they spent six BEEEEELION dollars on the making of that film. I don't know a thing about the new guy, Henry Cavill, but I'm certain I'll at least give the guy a chance. I think they need to take a page out of the Christopher Nolan handbook, though, and give this whole franchise a completley fresh look with villains we haven't seen before. Batman Begins was a brilliant reboot, IMO.
  19. This is starting to feel like the beginning of the film, Major League. I'm in the role of the coach trying to make calls to all the prospective players, and Gary M is like Tom Berenger lying on a disheveled bed in Mexico, half-passed out, bottle of tequila on the nightstand, and a two dollar whore in the bed next to him
  20. Did they really? That reminds me, back in the 80s Doritos had a sour cream and onion flavor and I was hooked on those things. The nacho cheese ones have always been a favorite, but their sour cream/onion ones came in a green bag and I used to pound those things man. I don't know why they got rid of them
  21. Exactly....this was an innocent MOTHER. This evil bastard needs to rot in hell. I don't understand how there can be any debate over that.
  22. lol, cool...I sent you the invite in PM
