  1. Yep, I think what hit me was the stark contrast between him and the WWE of the last ten years or so. When Rock and Stone Cold left, it was the first time in years that they didn't have that one bigger than life figure as the face of the company. HHH was sort of there, as was Michaels, but John Cena is a bit too polariazing to handle that role, IMO. But yeah, the Rock reminded everyone what a true star looks and sounds like, and I loved every minute of that mic work last week. I also loved that he called out Cena...that will be interesting to watch play out.
  2. Was that the guy who had to leave the game d/t injury? He seemed like a pretty savvy player, although I hadn't seen his first season. And I could go for Parvati as the best ever, because she did get under Russells skin...but FRICKIN SANDRA??? lol
  3. Exactly. Growing up, the matches were important. As adults, the fun for a lot of us is in how the business is run, the psychology behind getting a character over, etc. I have my DVR set to record Raw each week now, but I usually get through all two hours in about twenty mins. I was really glad I had it set to record last week, cause I was majorly geeking out to the Rock. I remember when that kid came into the WWF as Rocky Maivea (sp?), and to see him evolve into a worldwide superstar was a pretty cool thing. Same with Stone Cold. Here's a guy who was in WCW and ECW, had decent runs, but Vince turned the guy into a household name and the biggest draw in the industry. Next to being sole owner of the Buffalo Bills or one of the Backstreet Boys (that one was for you, Jim!), one of my dream jobs would be to work in character development for WWE.
  4. Wait, you're not serious about Sandra are you? lol That's funny you mention Jericho...I had seen a review of his book recently, so I decided to order the first one he wrote about ten years ago. It should be showing up next week (from Amazon), so looking forward to reading it. I love reading the accounts of these guys who had associations with some of the guys I grew up watching, but who also are still relevant today. It's truly a fascinating business, and I can't wait to read bot of his books in the coming weeks. Have you read the first one? If so, what did you think?
  5. lol, of COURSE I would Okay, I'll bite...who's the greatest? lol Sandra?
  6. Fairplay...I'm still pissed at that guy for his lame showing when he came back to play Survivor the second time. But still, gotta love the guy lol. I agree about Russell...gotta figure he'll get booted out pretty quick, but who knows. If he makes it to the finals again, I don't know how anyone could ever argue he wasn't the greatest ever.
  7. Just seems like you're always taking a big crap on some of the "pop culture" type stuff that people talk about.
  8. I see what you're saying...makes sense. And I agree about Russell. He's been the most dominant player in Survivor history. The guy just wreaks havoc behind the scenes, keeps one MAIN alliance with one other person, creates and dissolves other small alliances week to week depending on which way the wind is blowing, and pretty much ends up getting people to do exactly what he wants. If he could have found a way to do some damage control in terms of his social game, he would have won at least one of those two seasons. Although I still put a lot of blame on the juries, because the name of the game is outwit, outplay, outlast....or something like that....and Russell did that better than anyone. I recognize that the social game comes into play, but when it comes down to to who was the sole SURVIVOR, the choice was easy. Unfortunately the jury was butt hurt, though, and they decided to dishonor the game by giving the million to two undeserving coattail riders. I think Russell will end up getting voted out very soon, BUT, that's why I discussed my theory on how Redemption Island could theoretically become an advantage. One way or another Russell will figure into the outcome of this season... Jimbo, are you too cool for school brother?
  9. I think you may be exactly right about that. Bringing them back around the time of the merge would be a great thing. Even though tribes tend to be somewhat loyal to their original tribe mates after the merge, there is often some re-shuffling that goes on. Someone who came back from the island around that time would have less of a target on their back (potentially) than if they came back into the game when the line in the sand was still pretty deep. Boston Rob an Russell would dominate in one-to-one challenges on redemption island...if one of them goes there, it will become very interesting and I really do think it may give them an advantage. Looking forward to next week! See this is where I depart from some folks. If I were playing in the game, my immediate goals would be to 1) solidify my alliance and 2) ensure as many players from my original tribe as possible make it to the merge. After the merge my strategy would shift dramatically, of course, but up until that point I'd want the weakest players gone. That's not the same approach you'd take, I'm assuming?
  10. Dude, I spend my days caring for the ill and promoting all sorts of healthy goodness across America. I deserve EVERY fuggin guilty pleasure in which I partake.
  11. Happy Birthday my Erie brother!!
  12. I miss the days of Brian Cox giving us the finger as he walked out of the tunnel at the Ralph...the rivalry hasn't been worth a crap in forever. But guys like Cox and Louis Oliver were a lot of fun to hate...
  13. They did a great job with the casting. Based on the preview for next week, that country boy sasquatch is about to go apeshit on someone, so we've really got some folks on here who will stir it up. Also, what do you guys think the strategy should be with regard to redemption island? Part of me actually thinks it might be advantageous for someone like Russell to get exiled there. Depending on WHEN they bring you back into the game, it could be a great option for someone.
  14. I really enjoyed that show last night. I like how they got a little more into the group formation...they never spent quite that much time on it in the past, and it ended up being very interesting and entertaining. I tell you who I think may really go a long way, and that's that short kid who looks like a retarded Elton John/Danny Gokey hybrid. I think his name is Clint, but not sure...don't know many of the names yet. That kid has some MAD pipes, he just doesn't haave the look at all...but that's something AI can help him overcome. I was pretty pissed when they were messing with my boy Jacee...he's like the sweetest kid on the planet, and he didn't deserve to get sent away like that. Actually, now that I think of it, it was Clint who did it....what a dick. The group that did the second version of the Queen song just KILLED it. Especially that kid with the pony tail at the end...he's got some pretty solid range and he was in tune for all of his portion, which is more than can be said for most of them last night. Mohawk guy really needs to stop with the screaming. He goes into banshee mode every chance he gets, and it's already starting to grate on me. He can be Adam Lambert 2.0, but he really REALLY needs to chill. Anyway, now that I've seen all the talent in the same place, Nigel was right...this season may be one of the most talented seasons in a few years. I haven't watched tonight yet, but my Stouffers mac n cheese is almost done, and I'm gonna chow down while I take in the drama.
  15. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is one of my favorite movies of all time. That movie has it all
  16. So true...these people think they are outsmarting everyone else, when the fact of the matter is that they are digging their own graves. I thought it was brilliant when Rob made the offer of safety if she gave him the idol...that was the equivalent of getting a free shot downfield after you know the defense jumped offsides. No risk, all reward. But for fux sake, anyone who watches these shows where your peers vote you off knows damn well that you NEVER make an aggressive play right off the bat. You gotta chill out and let the game develop a bit. She was smart enough to be only the 2nd person to find an immunity idol without as much as a single clue, but as Dante pointed out, her need to blab about it and show it off was just plain idiotic! It's like playing poker and getting excited about being dealt a strong pocket pair, and then feeling the need to tell your opponents about the hand while it's still in play...stupid!! Oh well...lol...at least it appears there are some folks on here this season that will make things interesting. I'm curious to see how redemption island plays out.
  17. LOL, that dude just brought the entire thing down in one tribal council...I was dying laughing! Yep, there are a couple of hotties on this season
  18. '99 Mazda Protege...paid $4k for it two years ago
  19. hahaha, worst alliance in the HISTORY of reality TV on display at tribal council tonight
  20. These will likely be my two favorite shows of the season
  21. You know you watch Idol, John...you know it, I know it, lana knows it, Clippers knows it, EVERYONE knows it.
  22. Even though she wasn't going to win, to keep hispanic girl over her was pretty lame...and to think about her having to take all that luggage back to the airport...lol Aside from that, I don't remember anyone being cut that I thought should have stayed. That one teenager with the really deep country voice should stick around for no other reason than to hear him try and sing other genres of music lol. That will make for good entertainment
  23. I thought the same thing about the "power couple" who were split up...she definitely didn't seem all that phased that he didn't get through, and I agree that he came off like a classless douche. A couple of these folks that I didn't think sounded that good in their auditions sounded a little better last night...and vice versa. Even though she had the potential to be uber-annoying, I was sad to see the little "yo yo dawg" chick get booted...miss "I have 11 bags to check at the airport". She was pretty funny, I thought. Why they put the hispanic girl through is beyond me...there was no part her singing that could be considered musical last night...I thought for sure she'd be cut. Should be fun having her conceited-ness around for the group rounds next week though I was glad that Lurch got cut too... Now that I see them all in one place, there is actually some potential here. Some of these folks have big voices.
  24. Sounds to me like you need to gain a little more weight then.
