You do NOT mess with the US military
ajzepp replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Could that be viewed as a sort of coping mechanism? I would imagine that those of us who have not served in the military can watch a video like that and, when done with no perspective, sort of feel that the pilots are cavalier and unfeeling. Yet I would imagine that when you're actually doing the job, knowing that your life is on the line every minute of every day that you're engaged with the enemy, especially when you often times cannot know when a threat is presenting itself, that you'd have to find ways to sort of lessen the intensity a bit. Is that sort of what we're witnessing? -
It's funny how fast that realization takes place, too...you'll see the pre-race clip of a team talking about how much butt they're going to kick, and how strong their relationship is, and then half way through the first leg they're swearing at each other and screaming at the locals lol.

Time to watch the weather report

While you all are stumbling around and drooling all over yourselves like perverts... Damn! Double Damn! Hot DAYUM DAMN DAMN! -
That's a great point, cause when I first saw the Asian girl, I didn't immediately find her attractive. But as you got to know her personality along the way, by the end of the season I found myself thinking she was a real catch and an all-around good person. I completely agree, it's like the exact same situation but in reverse. I remember getting pretty p.o.'ed at her dad for treating her like crap, but at least he apologized and worked on the manner in which he was treating her as the show went on. That's one of the (many) things I love about this show - the way you get to observe how all these legs of the race impact the relationships of the racers. In fact, I almost think going on this show would be better than pre-marital counseling! lol

She's REALLY hot, but only when her mouth is shut lol. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but hot girls become VERY unattractive to me when they are hateful, mean spirited, stuck up, or just otherwise c's. But yeah, she's pretty hot lol

Okay, first of all, how BEAUTIFUL is Manley Bay, Australia? And how AWESOME was this leg of the race? Getting to sail on a skiff? Getting to swim among sharks and "queen-sized bed rays"?? Sign me up! This was a VERY busy leg for the teams...they went super-size for this episode. I liked the idea of the pre-race challenge to start it off, and I also like the idea of the free pass thing that the first team won at the checkpoint. That being said, I have a HUGE problem with those two cheerleaders being allowed to race again. That red head is one of the biggest <insert C-word here>'s on earth. I remember when she raced the last time, she was a complete and utter embarrassment to all self-respecting Americans. She was constantly rude and berating to the locals in the other countries they traveled to, often times screaming about how frustrated she was with "foreigners who don't speak english", when SHE'S THE FARKIN FOREIGNER!! Having squabbles and fights with your partner or among the other teams is one thing, but don't act like douchebags and take the stance of the "ugly american" and treat others like that. CBS should have included another team... Also, I'd be surprised if one or both of these senior guys on the race didn't end up with some really serious medical issues along the way. It seemed based on the preview that Mike White's dad may be the first to have issues, but I recall both of them struggling the last time. I hope they both do well, but I think this race may prove to be too difficult for one or both. How awesome is it to have Survivor, Race, and Idol all going at once? Hells yeah!!

Okay, now THIS is a good frickin list, save for your last entry lol...I may need to privately hijack this thread and use this list for my own purposes lol.

I completely agree with that criticism. I HATE when they show clips of the previous evening, or God forbid from earlier inthe same FREAKIN SHOW. Drives me nuts. I'm not sure what to expect with this Beatles thing...I don't so much mind the 2-hr show, cause I always watch on the DVR and FF throgh commercials. But I hope there is some entertainment value to w hatever they're doing with cirque du solei.

I wanted to bump this thread to tell you guys about my biggest score yet... So as I said earlier in the thread, I tend to go for non-sexy items that I can get for a steal, and I've done this on multiple occasions. But my other approach, if I ever wanted to go for a big ticket item, was to find something I was willing to pay full retail for and then bid my rear off in hopes that I'd end up saving significant money. Well, I've been wanting some sort of exercise gear for my apartment, but don't really have the room. I've seen the commercials for that Chuck Norris gym, the Total Gym for years, but never paid much attention to it. I saw that quibids had one of them in an auction from time to time, so I did some research. As it turns out, the one they have is the "XLS", which is the top of the line home gym. (They have a nicer commercial version, but it's like $4k.) It folds up out of the way when not in use, which is exactly what I need due to space restraints. Anyway, when I saw all the positive reviews I figured I'd go ahead and put my plan into motion. I verified that the retail price was around $978, so if I ended up having to pay that, then apparently it would still be a good investment given the number of happy customers. Well, the auction just finished, and here are the results: Bids purchased: 300-pack, cost me $180 (I used 255 out of the 300) Shipping cost: $49 Item cost at end of auction: $28 So for a $978 home gym, I am paying about $230 total, including shipping. That is a frickin STEAL. I should have it here in the next week or two, so I will report back on how I like the gym in case anyone is interested. BTW, quibids is now accredited by the BBB, just in case anyone is on the fence about participating and that fact is of consequence to you. You can read the report HERE. I've received every item I've won at auction, and have dealt with their cust svc dept on two occasions. They have been very accommodating and easy to work with. If anyone wants to talk to me about bidding strategies or for other feedback on the site, feel free to comment below or send me a PM. But especially after tonight, I could not be happier with this site.

DAMMIT jack....I'm still recovering from the chicken nugget article you posted -
I think we're underestimating the depth of Doc's 80s collection

Ah Lea reminds me of the music of one of my favorite current musicians, Ben Folds. They're both from the "talented nerd" genre lol

Moving Pictures "What About Me" (you prob already have it) Glass Tiger (don't remember names of songs, but I liked this band) Frankie and the Knockouts - "Sweetheart"

I can't wait to go to Lambeau for a game...and I agree, I hate the offseason. I really haven't known what to do with myself these last two Sundays

You may already have it, but my favorite Elton John song is one that most people seem to not be very familiar with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZzXEFDznoA I liked early 80s music better than later 80s, so I'll try and think of some stuff that was pretty good but somewhat obscure. If you like the hair band stuff from the later 80s, here's one that was somewhat obscure, although it got a fair bit of air play. Kix: Don't Close Your Eyes

Glad to see the Ralph ranked higher than the GA Dome. Unfortunately the only ones on this list I've been to are the Ralph, GA Dome, and Arrowhead. Being a Buffalo guy and having been accustomed to our insane tailgating culture, attending a game at the Dome was about as big of a let down as it gets. I've said it quite a few times on here over the years, but there is absolutely no cohesion to the Falcons fan base whatsoever. The art of tailgating is lost on these folks, the crowds are typically not very passionate at all (with exceptions here and there....they do have their small pockets of diehards), and the atmosphere is just nothing like that of a real football city like KC and B-lo. I'll take the cultures of places like KC, B-lo, GB, and even Baltimore of some of these fancy schmancy stadiums with all the bells and whistles but no character.

I would love to see Heyward fall to us at our 2nd pick, but just don't see that happening. The guy is a difference maker, and I can't imagine him making it out of the latter part of rd 1. I'm still hoping we find a trading partner and drop back 5-10 spots for our first pick. Just too much D talent with first round grades to not take advantage of that.

I have fallen completely in love with the SEC and the college football culture here in the south, but crap like that is just way over the line. I frickin hate Bama, but just no excuse for taking the rivalry to that level.

That's nothing. You should see what he did to AKC a few years ago! Dude, don't make me tell everyone how you spend your time reading trashy romance novels...cause I WILL!!!
