I just started and finished watching Breaking Bad
ajzepp replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Seems I've heard a few people say that, actually. All I know is that no matter what I decide to watch after BB is over, it will pale in comparison. This show is just ridiculously good, and I really am appreciative to you guys for the discussion. I would have missed out on a great viewing experience! Also, I'm really enjoying watching shows that have been out a while. I like having access to the DVD's and/or streams right away instead of having to wait. There are pros and cons to both watching in real time and watching on DVD, but I prefer the latter. It also gives the show a chance to really establish itself, so you know if it's one that you want to invest your time in. I still remember all the late nights a few years ago when I was going through the first four seasons on 24 on DVD...that was a blast! I'm having the same sort of fun this time around with BB -
Congrats to Rob...well deserved, and it was great to see him back in top form I was SO glad when Dave gave that speech during the final tribal. The worst part of this show is how seemingly EVERY damn season the jury can't get over being butt hurt, and they allow their emotions and feelings to get in the way of voting for the player who truly played the best game. I really wish they'd make that part of the screening process, cause it's getting old. Thankfully Dave put the smack down on that issue and kept it real, and the right person won. I don't remember which one of the whiny girls said it, but they were like, "Rob, you had to lie to win and I don't even feel like I know who you are." OF COURSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHO HE IS! lol The game isn't about being who you REALLY are, or about being the most honest or loyal...it's about SURVIVAL. If playing this game helps you become closer to God, or to understand more about yourself, then that's great. But for gosh sakes, when it comes who voting for the winner, vote for the SOLE SURVIVOR...not the person who was nicest to you or whatever... It would have been nice to see Matt win the fan favorite, but that's cool that Rob won it. He and Amber should be financially set for life with their family, now. Can't wait til the South Pacific! Rupert was interesting the first time he played, but his last go-round on Heroes v. Villains he was boring as hell. I hope it's not him, too. I want to see Fairplay get his act together and play the game once more

Dexter is a show that intrigues me, as well. I did rent the first disc of season one a while back and found myself enjoying it, but I got distracted and didn't continue. Maybe be a good option once I'm done with BB since you seem to be enjoying it, too. -

I'm four episodes into S3 and....WTF??? lol This show continues to be some of the most entertaining tv I've ever seen, but WOW is it stressing me out! I can't believe how fugged up everything is right now...it's almost affecting me on an emotional level, and I think my blood pressure goes up more with every single episode lol. I've tried to see things from Skylar's perspective once she sort of figured things out, but I just can't do it...Walt deserved better, regardless of his Machiavellian tendencies. This show is NUTS! -
To his credit, Cowherd does come up with some interesting topics for conversation at times, and he tends to make an effort to look at things from a different perspective. That being said, sports to him is clearly a business, as he is not a sports FAN at all. The guy thinks it's bad for sports whenever a small market team is in a championship game/series, and he's a bandwagon jumping front runner. I can't take all the credit for this, but he used to ALWAYS include B-lo among those franchises in the NFL he thinks should be gotten rid of. I took him to task on it once day by challenging his view that B-lo "can't support an NFL team" and told him to look up the attendance figures for the league over the past ten years - the same ten years where we didn't qualify for the playoffs even once. I haven't heard him mention the Bills since whenever he's revisited that topic. Like OCinBuffalo said, he's clearly an image guy...I can take him in small doses, but for the most part I pity the guy, cause I get the sense that he just has never truly been a fan of anything great in sports.

The bath tub scene was the one that hooked me on the show, lol... Just finished up S2...pulled a bit of an all-nighter, cause I just had to see what was going to happen next! About to download S3 from Amazon Just when I thought I couldn't enjoy the show any more than I already was, Bob Odenkirk shows up to play Saul Goodman -
Hopefully they aren't doing TOO much "jamming" lol

Not at all! I just usually don't have my phone with me and I don't often watch it during its run time....I watch on the dvr.

Your top three of Casey, James, and Pia would have been awesome. I never would have picked this actual final 3 in a million years.

LOL! It's not easy being in the hospital for a lot of folks, I definitely understand that...and yeah, I did spend a lot of time trying to help folks hold on just a bit longer, cause docs really don't like it when people leave against medical advice (AMA). It's funny, cause a lot of patients are under the misconception that we want to keep them there as long as possible. Nothing could be further from the truth. The longer they're there, the less money the hospital makes, so we're under a LOT of pressure to focus on throughput and bed turnover. Yet another one of the wonderful things that adds to the stress of the job lol. I don't blame you for hating it, I really don't lol

Interesting...I wonder if it's different with pediatrics now that you say that. I don't have much experience at all with children, but it would make more sense that they'd prefer to be around other kids, whereas adults feel the opposite. Sounds like a great memory!

Stevie Johnson in studio for NFL Total Access
ajzepp replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The last player we had on this team that I found myself being really excited about was TKO. It's great that I'm feeling that way again about guys like Stevie and Dareus. These two will hopefully be Bills for a very long time and I'm looking forward to us getting our long lost mojo back. The future is bright in B-lo! -
lol, I hate to admit this, but you'd be surprised how many nurses indulge in the weedage. The job is more stressful now than it's ever been, and I see a growing issue with nurses and the bottle, the weed, and the pills. It's very rare that anyone be under the influence while on the job (and it's something we look for very carefully), but outside of work it's very common for medical folks to be chemically de-stressing.

lmao...c'mon dude, that guy TOTALLY changed his style. If you go back in this thread, I felt exactly as you did at first. I hated all the Lambert screeching, and I was afraid this was Lambert pt II. But the kid has really grown vocally and learned to be much more balanced with his singing. You really prefer someone like Scotty over this guy?? I know Scotty has a huge following, I just don't understand it lol. Is it more that you like HIM, or that you like his singing? To me, it just seems like he's got a nice tone to his voice, but no range at all. I felt like he sang the same song every week lol. I'm with you on the James thing, though...I honestly thought he'd be there to battle it out in the finals. I have a lot of respect for that dude. He's still young, but he seems to be someone who really loves his family and who isn't allowing his early success to go to his head. I feel pretty good that he'll have a career in music ahead of him It's funny, cause I was watching Idol with a friend of mine, and when they announced that Haley was singing "I, Who Have Nothing", I paused the DVR, went over to youtube, and found Jordin Sparks version from a few years ago. I had never heard that song prior to when Jordin sang it, but I haven't forgotten it since. Anyway, I told my friend, "I bet you twenty bucks Haley doesn't sound anywhere near as good as THIS", and then I played the Jordin performance. Well, we watched the promo with Gaga, and within about thirty seconds into the song, I knew that Haley was having a "moment", as they say. She killed it, and it was every bit as good as Jordin's version, IMO.

If I had a dime for every time I had to have the "insurance companies don't pay for you to sleep" conversation with a patient, I'd be rich! lol It would seem counter-intuitive to not be advocating for sleep among the patients during their hospital stay, but even in the ICU quality sleep is often not a primary focus. The whole goal is to stabilize you, get your discharge plan in order, and get you the F out I know at my former hospital where I was a supervisor, we pretty much had the flexibility to allow family to stay with loved ones during the night. We'd set off an announcement over the PA system at 8pm telling people to get the hell out, but I'd make exceptions when I knew it wouldn't be a problem. The fly in the ointment is when you have semi-private rooms. Those were the bane of my existence... It's so hypocritical how we go to such great lengths to protect patients confidentiality and HIPAA and all that, yet we can still allow some stranger in the next bed access to all their neighbors private information. All rooms should be private. It's a customer service nightmare trying to manage semis, particularly at night. We'd often have the idiots in pre-op/admissions "assuring" patients they'd have a private bed. So they'd come up from the ER or surgery, realize they were assigned to a semi-private, and then literally protest to the point where they would not allow us to roll the stretcher into the room. They'd insist on staying in the hallway until they got their private room lol. I'm totally on their side, but unfortunately it was out of my control.

I can't believe Haley made it over James...

When I was in the hospital, I always enjoyed working the evening (7p-7a) shift. Things have calmed down, the docs have all gone home, and you get to spend more time connecting with the patients. It's also a lot more pressure when a patient codes, cause a lot more responsibility is on your shoulders, but I enjoy that aspect of it. There are docs who literally don't even see the patients when they do rounds...they just check labs, write new orders, and leave. So you're exactly right about the impersonal thing...happens all the time. Me too lol. I can get blood from a turnip when it comes to sticking others, but I have ended up nearly passed out more than once when I've been stuck myself

I saw this commercial for the first time today and it really reminded me how proud I am to work in the medical field as an RN. It's really been great to see more and more males entering the profession over the last ten years since I graduated, too. It's an amazing feeling to know that you work in a profession where you literally impact peoples' lives. I have had the privilege of having been directly responsible for saving a life as a first responder, in addition to helping save many others through the efforts of myself and my coworkers. There are times when the stress and challenges of the job - particularly in an acute care hospital setting - can really be overwhelming, but it's one of the most rewarding careers you can have, IMO. If you guys know anyone who is looking for a career path, or someone interested in training for a second career, let me know if I can help with any questions or concerns.

lol, she looked like a racoon that was run over by a semi

So anyway, I'm not really a fan of Lady Gaga's music, but she seems like a really cool chick....almost like the anti-Madonna. She worked wonders with Haley and Lauren last night. Lauren has been singing well this entire competition, but what's been missing is the performance and the confidence that she displayed back in the audition rounds. Gaga really seemed to connect with her, and as a result we had Lauren's most animated performance of the season last night. On top of that, Haley blew me away with I, Who Have Nothing. Scotty annoyed me, as usual, and James rocked it out...as usual. Should be a very interesting vote tonight!

Really enjoying season 2 so far...another really interesting aspect to the story is the ongoing discussion/argument/posturing between Walt and Jesse pertaining to which of them needs the other more, lol. Walt will allow the criminal element within to rear its head, confidently spouting off to Jesse about how insignificant Jesse is and how Heisenberg is the MAN. Then just recently, after getting the RV issue all squared away, you have the roles reversed with Jesse laying down the law with regard to how the distribution side of things will run. Walt begins to realize he has no clue about that aspect of the game, and for the most part gives in. Awesome!! The women on this show are really starting to get annoying, though...I was really diggin' his wife, but this passive aggressive crap she's pullin' after the faux amnesia incident is a bit much. -
Dareus will wreak havoc no matter where we line him up...I'm now convinced of that. This kid is going to dominate from his rookie year.

The only way I'd be on board with this is if they hire Flav-o-Flav as the new spokesperson for this campaign.

Holy CRAP! It's like 3:30am and I just finished watching ep2 of Season 2. That was one of the BEST episodes of television I've ever seen in my life! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and the time FLEW by! Wow...this show is ridiculously good!
