I got Vol.2, which has a bunch of woodies on the first disc and some really cool steel coasters on the second disc, many of which are from Europe and ASia, and they are pretty intense. Your kid would really like it I think, cause the way it's structured is as follows: There are about 30 coasters featured. First they give you the name of the coaster, the date it opened, the designer, and some pertinent stats such as its height, length, and top speed. Then they sort of give you some shots from a distance for perspective, and then the payoff comes when they plop you down in the front seat of the thing and you get to go on a full ride from start to finish. It's just raw, to-the-point coaster footage. There are also some nice documentary DVDs I saw on Amazon, so pairing one of these up with a doc might be a really great way to go if he's really into the deseigning/history aspect. They have like ten volumes on DVD, and the amazon pages for each one list all the coasters that are covered on that particular volume just in case you have any favorites. They also have a bluray version, so I'll chime back in when I check that one out, too. But I think it's $10 well spent

Ordinarily I would rule in your favor, PaattMaann, but when it comes to the few lovely, cherished female members of our board, I always give them the benefit of the doubt...and anything else they want the benefit of

Yep, especially from all the tools the NFL apparently has available. They supposedly start trying to get through to these morons before they even sign their contracts, and then there are financial services/mentors/etc available to them any time they want to take advantage of it. If that's what they want to do with their money, that's fine, but don't start whining about it when all of a sudden it's all gone.
-
It's amazing to me how caught up in image some people are. I guarantee you that you could have these morons do a blind taste test between that Ace of Spades champagne and a $100 bottle (whatever that would be...Dom? I dunno) and they'd have no idea which was which. Not to get all philosophical, but I consider this sort of thing one the biggest problems with youth. Young kids see this crap, and they think that if they too can't have the "image", then they aren't cool like their friends...they realize that mcdonalds or wiping toilets at the local movie theater for $8/hr isn't QUITE going to get them to that level, so next thing you know they're either selling drugs, committing a crime, etc. Young people today are just so caught up in the image of success...so stupid.

Wow...I bet that server was pretty happy with the automatic 20%!

This is one area where I never have even the slightest bit of sympathy for pro athletes.
-
That's exactly how I feel. I am fully supportive of adults being adults, whether it's behavior I agree with or would partake in myself or not. And you're right, there are many perspectives on this and it's very interesting to hear what others say.

I can't imagine why they weren't jumping on her ass more than they did, you know? You had like three of them standing in front of the redneck as he came out of the woods, and at least one of two of them were armed, so no reason for taking a shot like that and putting the other three at risk. If I were Shane or Rick, I'd take that gun back from her again like they did before. You're right about that ending...the old guy will have some 'splainin to do next week!

Oh I know, I wasn't being critical of what you said, I was just pointing out that you hit the nail on the head in terms of why this conversations is so interesting. I think a lot of people probably DO equate being in porn with some sort of criminal behavior. And obviously it's a big issue or that article wouldn't have been written to begin with. I think it's interesting to see how people are reacting to the topic, cause certainly the porn industry comes with a huge stigma in our society....particularly when children are in the equation.
-
What you said there is exactly what makes this topic interesting. Being in porn is not illegal (to my knowledge, anyway), so what should make her more accountable than anyone else? What if Halle Berry were the one reading to the kids and some of the kids mothers happened to see Billy Bob bend her over and bang the hell out of her in Monster's Ball? Sure, it wasn't actual penetration, but that was quite the scene! Why should Sasha be more scrutinized than Halle?

In all honesty, I never really cared for the older teams in the past. They always seemed to be the most whiny and feeble, which was to be expected. These two on this season are total BALLERS. They need to find more couples like this. They just keep pushing forward the entire leg and they seem to be having a lot of fun doing it. I want the snowboarders to win too, but I wouldn't be upset if the old farts took 'em down. Yep, I'd have no problem U-turning the bejeezus out of the other teams. I was really dumbfounded why the Pollards were just sleeping at the airport. That could have been disastrous if not for that delay to start the dancing. That Cindy girl is really cute when she's not yapping. I'm starting to get the impression that she's a major whiner, though, and she needs to just zip it. Her man is completely whipped. I can't believe I was watching rabbits jumping over hurdles...that was awesome

I didn't say I was proud of it You been usin' Plochmans all this time and didn't tell me about it?? You know,I admit I've completely underestimated the power of salt and pepper my whole life. You watch shows with these celeb chefs like Ramsay or that bodybuilder guy who does the Restaurant Impossible show, and they berate the HELL out of people for not using salt and pepper, particularly on steaks and burgers. I've tried to get better with it, particularly when I fire up the Foreman, and it does make a difference for sure. I believe it. What are some things you'd be most likely to dab some horseradish on?

I've pretty much been a Hellmann's - Heinz - French's guy my whole life. But a few weeks ago a friend of mine and I were having some burgers and I noticed that she had some other weird looking mustard in the fridge. It was Plochmans yellow (www.plochman.com). I didn't really give it much thought...until I took a bite. I thought it was ridiculous that I was enjoying a basic yellow mustard this much. It was delicious! It just got me thinking about how much stuff there is in the condiment aisle at the grocery store, and how rarely I've ever given notice. The only other time recently I found something new that I loved was when I was introduced to Remoulade sauce. This stuff is amazing, and I keep it around for whenver I fire up some shrimp poboys. I'm curious what other stuff you guys use that might be worth trying? Are you guys the basic Heinz/Hellmann's/French's type or have you ventured out and found some other great products? I know there are lots of folks with amazing taste in food on this site, so hoping you guys bring some solid suggestions!

I don't know why I didn't connect the last couple of shows...I posted that just prior to the end of watching last night's episode on DVR, so after the barn scene hit I was feeling better about it. And I totally agree about the redneck guy...he's been one of my favorites too. I just feel like Im stuck in this cycle of argument-someone gets shot - back to looking for girl. I was happy the one kid got some action...that was a funny dynamic, especially being juxtaposed with him getting the pregnacny test for the lady. I dunno, I was just wanting more....when the blonde did what she did to the redneck toward the end, my eyes rolled. I hope next week is either a stronger offering or I'm in a different mood than I was last night lol

Okay, I'm not sure what's going on, but the last two episodes of this show have sucked. Is it just me? Was this the point when Darabont got the shaft? I dunno, but it's boring me to tears. Boring dialogue, then people go out in the woods looking for the girl (again), someone gets shot, people freak, the end. Tonight there was like ten mins of boring banter between the cop and the head shaved guy about girls they banged in H.S...mmmkay. Let's get this back on track, people.
-
you could tell he wanted to...guy is a major d-bag.
-
I always preface this sentiment with, "I admit I've only seen a handful of Luck's games, and only one from start to finish"...but when I watch Luck play, the guy that comes to mind is Joey Harrington. I think he's much more likely to follow in Joey's footsteps (or as Crayonz intimated, his father) than he does Tom Brady's or Joe Montana's.

Colin Cowherd Show "I don't like Buffalo..

Again, 100% in agreement. You totally nailed it when you said "cynical and joyless". Those are PERFECT descriptors for the guy. I remember back when I lived in Philly, I listened to talk radio (610 WIP) throughout the day, all day. One of my favorite times to listen was late at night when I was working security. You had all the polished and established guys on in the daytime and into the early evening, but then late at night you had the radio guys who were trying to find their way, get more experience, etc. I remember listening to this guy Paul Jolowitz (sp?). He didn't have a great radio voice, but the guy was just genuine and funny and he LOVED sports. I would take a guy like that over Cowherd any day. I rarely call into sports radio shows, but I used to call this guy every so often cause it was when the Bills were sort of regrouping for their second run in the 90s. He didn't know much about the Bills, but he engaged me in the conversation, entertained my ideas, and respected what I had to say. Then he went to the next all and everyone laughed at something else he said. I may have been the only guy in Philly listening to and enjoying this guy, but I thought his show was a blast! I'd much rather listen to that than I would a robot like Cowherd. -
Routing for the Patriots tomoorow.

The Bills are 5-3 and lost 2 by 3 points

We're also only a game back of the CONFERENCE leader. We have one of the least sacked QBs in the NFL, our RZ efficiency is at or near the top of the league, and we have some key people (hopefully) getting healthy. There's no reason that we should start to crap the bed. We have enough talent to win games, and I expect us to do that. -
Colin Cowherd Show "I don't like Buffalo..
ajzepp replied to Quinn Early's Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can understand the appeal based on what you said, and there are times when I do like some of the topics he brings up, but read what Butftex wrote below (errr, above). His lack of passion breeds hypocrisy at times, I think. He's too much of a bandwagon jumper for my taste, and I honestly don't think he can relate at ALL to people who either come from a smaller market or are passionate about a small market team. At least with guys like Mike and Mike I know where they stand. Little Mike is obviously a huge Jets fan, but I've heard him give props to B-lo plenty of times in the past. He respects the Bills, and I think a lot of that is because he knows what it is to be a fan. A LOYAL fan. Cowherd is a front runner, and he modifies his position based on what the "facts" tell him to do so that he can be in the right...whatever that means. Pay attention to something...the next time you hear his show and he has a guest on, listen to how Cowherd will frame the conversation before it even starts. He'll introduce the guest, mention the topic, and then discuss HIS view before he listens to the guest. It's almost as if he wants to prime the guest to either agree with his position or not take a position that is so far removed from Colin's that it makes him look bad lol. I'm not saying I don't like his show, cause I do. I just can't relate to the guy a lot of the time and I don't really have as much respect for him as I do others. Dude, the Mavs win last year was one of the most satisfying events I've ever witnessed in sports, and I'm not even a huge NBA guy. I am usually all about trash talk, and I LOVED that we had those big mouths in Miami to keep it interesting, but that just makes it all the sweeter when they couldn't finish. I have only been able to see SportsNation recently, and I totally agree about Beadle on both counts. You can tell that she's legit when it comes to havign an interest in sports, and she knows what she's talking about. Aside from that, she's very easy on the eyes.
