Colin Cowherd Show "I don't like Buffalo..
ajzepp replied to Quinn Early's Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I listen to Cowherd on the way into work just cause he is who happens to be on my sports radio station at the time. I heard what he said to the caller about Buffalo today, and he offered a relatively fair assessment of the team. But while he does bring up interesting topics at times and he tends to do his homework factually, my biggest issue with him is that he's clearly not a "fan" of sports. It's more like a job for him, not something he's passionate about. Listen to someone like Mike and Mike on ESPN and you can tell that these guys LOVE sports, especially football. LIsten to Bob Costas talk about baseball. Turn on an English Premier match and you can tell how much someone like Tommy Smyth LOVES soccer. With Cowherd, it's passionless. He likes to be "in the know" so he can be on the right side of an argument. Today he did something that was just awkward. He had Mike White on there, coach of the Falcons. He said that he meant to have him on the other day, but that the Penn St thing broke and he had to bump him. So he barely gets into the interview, and all of a sudden he just starts asking the coach about Aaron Rodgers. He's going on and on about how amazing Rodgers is, and how he's like a more athletic version of a Joe Montana/Tom Brady hybrid clone thing. There was a pause after the question, and you could pretty much hear Mike White doing a "WTF" in his mind. What the hell does Aaron Rodgers have to do with the Falcons? Cowherd asked him if he's seen a bunch of film on the guy or something. He eventually turns it into a "how do you beat this guy?" discussion, but the whole thing was just weird. Cowherd seems to develop man crushes very easily on NFL QBs. -

I can understand that fear, I just think it's much ado about nothing. Hell, they let politicans address children all the time, and they have a long history of screwing US, so why not let someone read to them who has primarly been used to getting screwed by others? Of course, I'm also the sort of person who will see these young female teachers banging a high school student and then wondering where thewe teachers were when I was in H.S.

I always geek out to a "DTS" logo...I had no idea they had games with a DTS track...that is badass! As much as I love the newer lossless formats even more, I still love the audio on my Saving Private Ryan DTS DVD. The first twenty mins of that movie on my audio rig will leave you shaking.

Gay? -
Me neither. Last I knew, there was nothing illegal about having been in porn in a prior life.

the problem with being an audiophile is that sometimes we get so caught up in gear that we forget to just sit back and enjoy the music, too! lol. I'm not a huge gamer, but when I picked up an xbox 360 a couple years ago and started playing GTA IV, I was really impressed with the sound quality. It added a lot to the gaming experience.

Yeah, I realized who she was when I was watching the show from last night...I guess I just forgot her name, cause I remember her pretty well. She's personality plus, even if I don't really have much interest in her musical stylings. I'm pretty much on board with Josh Kraczek or whatever his name is...that guy is like Joe Cocker with better range.

Yeah, God forbid it take away time from your Fabio crap romance books!

They seem to say the right things a lot of the time, which means either their order fulfillment dept is full of fugtards, or they are laughing at us behind their back while telling us exactly what they think we want to hear lol. These people are a mess. I'm just glad we didn't pay the sort of prices that Fatheds usually cost. I bought a huge Fathead of Turner Field and it was $99. Worth every penny, cause I love it (and so does everyone else who's seen it). But I can tolerate a little more nonsense when we're only talking a few bucks. I think a few of us ordered it while in the back of our minds thinking it wasn't legit to begin with, so I suppose just the fact that I got SOMETHIGN was surprising enough. B I'd really like the Bruce one, though, so as long as they follow through on their end, I'll be happy to ship back Ortiz. But until then, he's slated for an Ebay sell. It is kinda funny, especially considering how many of us got Ortiz lol

Same here. I have a tube preamp that I love for music, but it has a bypass on it where I can use my s/s gear for HT. Well, my amps are hybrid amps, so they aren't entirely s/s, but you get the idea. Keep the DeVore line in the back of your mind if you ever get a chance to listen and/or if in the market for a new set of mains
-
Have you ever heard any of the DeVore Fidelity line? Even though Im a planar guy, I fell in love with them. They are the most balanced and transparent box speakers I've ever heard. I owned the Super 8s for a few years and really enjoyed them. Pair them up with some nice tube gear and it's heaven! (Although you may not be much of a tube guy if you're strict about not having any any discolorations.)
-
Klipsch are very polarizing speakers because of exactly what you mentioned. I've never owned them, but I have always enjoyed the demos I've heard with movies. I'm a Magnepan fan, myself. Fell in love the first time I ever heard them and can't ever see myself being without them again. Not as polarizing as Klipsch, but you'll have lots of Maggie lovers just as you'll have those who don't care for them. That's what makes HT such a great hobby, though...everyone can find what suits their own taste.

Yep, that's exactly why I'm not sending this Ortiz one back until "Bad Things, Man!" shows up in my mailbox. They take three weeks to process our orders and ship the damn thing, but sure enough they can get that return shipping label to us pretty damn quickly!

I must not be paying as much attention as I thought, cause I have no idea who Rachel is lol

I still can't believe he won...lol

This is prob the first year that I'm really indifferent to Idol starting up in a couple months. I still haven't recovered from McCreary-itis.

Wow! That would be a blast to put something like that together...

I give it the fast foward treatment each week, so I guess I'm sorta watching it. I was glad to see Simon back, but he's nothing like what he was previously. He's got his hands all over this show so much that he just seems more like a salesperson to me this time around. It seems like the "judges" are just blowing sunshine up every contestant's butt. That being said, I really like that Josh guy (shaggy lookin' dude), and then there are two girls that I like a lot. One is the one he initially sent home and then "realized he made a big mistake" (wtf?), and the other is that little 14 year old who sounds like a jazz singer. The rest of them I fast foward through at this point, but I'll prob keep tabs on it for the last several weeks if for no other reason than to see my girl Scherzinger

I'll have to wait til after work to see what you posted...nothing but a big blank space in your post...wish they'd update the browsers here!

I remember the first time I went to Disneyworld, they had this theater where you stood in the middle of a huge room and you were surrounded by a 360 degree movie where you were in a first person standpoint while going very fast. Once minute you'd be on a motorcycle racing through traffic, then it's behind the wheel of a speedboat, etc. But the one that was always my favorite was the first person roller coaster footage. You know what I mean...the sort of footage where you feel as if you're actually in the front car riding the thing. Well I installed a 120" projector screen a week or two ago, and I was reminded of this type of footage. I checked out Amazon to see what I could find, and sure enough there were a few products worth looking at. I settled on a series called "Roller Coasters in the Raw" and just received my first DVD today. Well, long story short, it's exactly what I was looking for. They visit about 30 coasters around the world per volume, and they have not only great footage of the coaster, but also historical information as well as complete first person footage of one full ride on each coaster. So far I'm really having fun with it, and it was $10 well spent. The experience isn't quite the same on a smaller screen, but if anyone likes this sort of thing, check it out. Amazon Link to Volumes

I'm actually a fan of having bookshelf monitors for the mains, in a subwoofer/satellite configuration. Those ED subs are very well regarded on the forums, especially for the price, so I would imagine if you have that dialed in well with the mains, you'd get a real nice front stage. You may want to match the center to the mains at some point, but the klipsch is probably very good for dialogue given those horn drivers. And I'm a very big fan of Onkyo receivers. The amp sections in those are excellent for both movies and music...that's a great little system you have there, particularly for what you spent Panasonic is also my favorite for plasma displays...very nice
