Man when that last drive started I was thinking this is where playoff caliber teams step-up and make it happen. Deep in my gut, being a long time Bills fan, I had a feeling it just wasn't going to happen, and that my extreme optimism for this team was about to run smack-dab into the painful reality of another coulda shoulda woulda type loss. Still I held on to my hope. Wow - I was practically giddy about Trent's performance on that drive! Real poise and great passes in a real pressure type situation. Then our D steps up big time and makes the stops when it had to. I started feeling a real hope and belief that I have not had in a long, long, time. Great wins can burn away years of suffering. This is going to be a hell of a year! Go Bills!

Why the Pats beating the Jets is good...
Georgia Bill replied to duey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree we have to beat NE (finally), but I think we only need to do it once. -
You know nature called and I missed a bit at the sports bar - Jags had just scored a FG. I step away, come back and the Jags have the ball - I totally missed what happened and was like WTF? I could not hear the audio so had no idea. So the Jags did an onside kick and recovered?

Why the Pats beating the Jets is good...
Georgia Bill replied to duey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I rooted for NE, and expected them to win. The Jets barely beat a putrid Miami, NE barely beat a very weak KC. Then NE wins against NY, but not in dominating fashion. What this proves to me is what I already was thinking - the Jets are not gonna be world beaters just because of Favre, and NE will still be competitive without Brady, but will not be able to be dominating as in years past. I wanted the Jets to get beat because the NY media is brutal on that team whenever anything goes wrong. It's weird but it seems the media is capable of getting into the heads of the Jets team and to me, that's a good thing - much better than them getting confident and believing in themselves. I see us beating the Jets twice, the Dolphins twice, and splitting with NE. -
Just got back from watching the game at the sports bar. HUGE win for us!!! So nice to see a clutch game winning drive late in the 4th quarter, complete with 2 BIG plays when needed! Not to mention TWO clutch stops in the final minutes. On the road. In the heat. Against a playoff caliber team no less! We are looking SOLID!! Go Bills!

some food for thought about opening day victories
Georgia Bill replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember watching that game last year and feeling pretty good about our chances up until the 4th quarter when the wheels started coming off. I sincerely hope the heat is not getting to us late in the game. It sure seems like this is an upgraded, improved Bills team, and the Jags are hurting due to offensive line injuries in particular. Frankly, I'm expecting a hard fought win for the blue and red! -
Good Luck To The Jaguars!

As said, not a must win game, but beating a team like Jacksonville on the road would certainly amp up the optimism. If we win, I'll certainly be thinking a 5-0 start is entirely possible. -
I just heard Belicheat on ESPN saying the Pats*
Georgia Bill replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he said "this wasn't like the Wilfork hit on the Bills QB last year" implying that one was a proper and legal hit whereas this one... What comes around goes around. -
Over on the Jags forum most of the posters sound worried about playing the Bills. One said "Did you see what the Bills did today?". One said "I'm scared but hoping for a W". From another.. "Buffalo looks pretty dangerous. We need to focus on better blocking and opening up the rushing attack. Watching Tennessee's defensive line man-handle our O-line and teeing off on Garrard was horrible to see. We have to win this game, we play Indy and Pittsburgh next. We could start the season 0-4 and that pretty much flushes our season down the toilet very early." We got their attention. Now it's time for us to put together a good team effort on the road!

They changed the link and got it up and running again. I've been watching for the last 5 minutes. No jittering this time either. Check out the "live Internet" thread for the new link. -

perhaps their taking this "make the offense less predictable" thing a tad too far? 3rd and 1 you gotta be able to pound the rock. -

so will theirs. Neither offense is doing well in these conditions. I say - pound the ball. -

Nice to see a run defense! I think we're in for some heavy dosing of Lynch here, given the elements. -
I'm seeing only about 1/4 of the action, the rest is spent stuttering or reaquiring connection. Same for you guys?
-
Good one... Sadly pretty much true last year. Me thinks this year our offense is gonna be just a tad less predictable. Run, Run, Pass, (Punt) hopefully over - good riddance!
-
They are awful. I'm just tuning in to the thread so don't know if it was already mentioned, but once they said about us: "this offense is hitting on all seven cylinders" Bet none of those guys ever opened a hood huh?

Maybe it seems we get the "damn this schedule looks tough" crowd every year, but this really does look tough. I'll be surprised if it's not in the top 5 toughest (I know, I know, based on last year teams strengths). All I know is - we better beat New England at least once. If we can't do that, we're toast. Get er done!

Bills fan now living in a state somewhere down south. I use Raelity on the Sabres board - a twist on Rael from Genesis Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and like that name better. Hate to change names, here though. At the rate I post I ought to work off my rookie label in just a few more years. Promo - I too was a Rocketship 7 fan. I was only 5 or so back then. I for sure remember Dave Thomas and Promo the Robot. I vaguely recall some kind of talking hand puppet coming out of the door in the rocket. Anyone else recall that and remember a name?
