Just wanted to take a moment to reflect on a rare great day for Bills fans. -BILLS WIN! -JETS Lose -PATS Lose -DOLPHINS Lose Not too often we get one of those. Enjoy it!! Go Bills!
-
Are we a playoff contender because we are 5-3? Or because we show we can win a west coast game (even if against a weak team), or because we prove we can finally beat NE in NE? All that would be great - but the toughest part of the schedule will still be ahead.

If fate hands us a division title by season's end
Georgia Bill replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. I hope like hell we'll still be thinking playoffs in the last couple weeks, but THIS scares me: -2 games against NE (I don't care what anyone says about them being dead, or who ELSE beats them, we have had big problems against this team, and until WE beat them, well, talk is cheap) -Denver -Cinci -KC -San Diego That right there is 6 tough games. It is certainly possible that we lose them all. I'm hoping we can at least win a couple, but I'm damn sure not gonna get overconfident based on a couple home wins against what for sure are NOT playoff teams. -
For sure! At a bare minimum we need to win ALL our home games in division. We have not yet shown an ability to win on the road (here's hoping that changes). I think this week's victory will give us something to build on and we will take down the Jets next weekend. Let's hope it's not a nail biter!!
-
I always heard that the home team is always favored by 3 points - if the teams are considered "equal" (just due to being home). So if we are favored by 4 instead, it means we are being given a tiny bit of additional respect?

Before the Jets beat Tampa Bay in Tampa I was thinking we ought to be able to win convincingly next week. After, I gotta say it makes me a little nervous, as I do think Tampa's defense is better than ours. I wonder how the odds-makers will call it. Here's hoping for 3-3.

Holcomb, Bulger, Gannon, Delhomme, Maddox
Georgia Bill replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. It sure seemed like he was more composed, more able to see open receivers, and in general, just more in command than we've seen JP lately. I was conflicted about the move, but I have to say at this point, we've got to see how this KH thing plays out. It seems a large part of being able to win gains is actually believing you can win games. I sensed that was starting to slip with JP, and perhaps the Bills can start getting that back with KH. I'm not writing off JP, he may well end up as a great future QB for us. For the present, it sure seems like they will stick with Holcomb. I can only hope that is for a long time, as that would only happen with lots of WINS! -
Bills not a bad team, just a team playing badly
Georgia Bill replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dennis, the TRUE Bills thing is indeed a crock. Still, don't you have SOME positive feelings after this game? I just wish we could enjoy one day relishing a sorely needed win, before jumping back into the critiques. Of course it's your right to say what you want. To me, it just feels nice to get a win. I'll start worrying about our next opponent/future on Monday! GO BILLS! -
I was at a sports bar here in Atlanta, with about 25 Miami fans who were starting to hoot and holler big time. There were 3 of us Bills fans there. One of them turns around and says "you guys getting nervous?" just before the fumble. Of course I have to say no way, you're not going score. Inside, I was feeling that old "here we go again" knot building in my stomach. By the way, the fumble recovery and the win were SWEET, all the Fins fans had to sulk out of the bar!!!. GO BILLS - CRASH THE JETS!!
-
I'll be watching the game at the nearest sports bar in Atlanta. The hell of it is in the last couple years there are more and more Dolphins fans, and only about 3 to 4 of us Bills fans. Lately they've been getting really rowdy too (wins help). I expect there will be about 30 of them and 1 or 2 for the Bills tomorrow. I'll be wearing my Bills shirt as usual and hoping like hell that I've got something to cheer about. Otherwise, it could be a long painful afternoon. Wish me luck - I'll be deep in enemy territory. Also, with a win, this awful avatar goes! GO BILLS, THE TIME HAS COME TO RALLY AND KICK SOME TAIL!!!

Just to clear things up, above was a wild guess. I also had no clue what it meant. Probably "Look At Me Post" is what it really is.

You're eyes do not deceive you. I decided to use this avatar until the Bills squish the fish (a bit of a protest against their play of late). IT BETTER HAPPEN SUNDAY! I can't stand this much longer. -

I've been here 14 years. Yes the traffic can be brutal at rush hour, but I'm lucky enough to have a short 10 mile drive to work up in the northern burbs. I lived 5 years each in Orlando, Dallas, and Phoenix and have to say the traffic here is no worse than those. I like it here best due to lots of trees, rolling hills, change of seasons (even occaisional snow), good economy, decent (but not great) schools. You have to get used to Southern rednecks, but they mostly keep to themselves. I'll be a Bills fan for life though, no allegiance to Falcons! -
The official no Losman or Holcomb thread!

Just trying out my new ugly avatar. I think I'll keep it til the Bill's Squish the Fish. It BETTER BE SUNDAY!!! -
I wasn't meaning to offend or come off as superior, just making an observation that most of what I see posted tends into one of these categories (concerning sticking w Losman or not). It was kind of stupid to add my last line, (kind of like saying "which of my pigeon holes do you fit into?").
-
Well let's put it this way, compared to most on this board, you ARE a hyper-optimist. You still believe in a playoff run, sticking to your original assumption that we can groom JP and do that. There just are not that many on this board in that camp.
-
I think it boils down to this. There are basically 3 camps here: 1) Those who still believe that we have a decent shot at the playoffs. Mostly because the rest of the division is also looking rough, and expecting Miami's bubble to burst. This group wants Holcomb to start because they think he might be enough of a QB for this scenario, and they're worried any more JP starts = losses = end of the dream. This group also hanging on to the hope that we actually do have a great defense that is going to start showing itself again soon. 2) Those who look at this team and realize playoff chances are extremely slim. Thus the rationale is that you stick with JP and let him get experience, in the hopes that he develops as quickly as possible into something special. This group is willing to take any improvement as a positive - not for this year's playoffs, but for next year (and years after). 3) Those who think JP will turn things around fast enough that we can still make a run at the playoffs this year. This is clearly the smallest group, made up of hyper-optimists. Is there anyone that doesn't see themselves at least for the most part in one of these camps?

You judge for yourself. Here is the exact quote from the USA Today article: "The Bills won eight of their final 10 games last season, making many forget — until now — that they started last season 0-4. The Bills have lost three in a row and the job of starting quarterback J.P. Losman (pronounced LOSS-man) is in jeopardy." maybe the emphasis on LOSS was not an intentional stab, eh?
-
Me too! A win against Miami is a fine salve on an open wound. I just hope these guys get up for this game. I'm not so sure they really have a hot rivalry w Miami anymore (sad). When I was young I suffered through the 21 straight losses to Miami. In my mind, until that score is evened, we cannot beat them enough. GO BILLS - Kick some Tuna!
-
It was pretty low for the USA Today, in front sports page article on struggling AFC East, to write "...J.P. Losman (pronounced "Loss-man")...". Give the guy a break! It's bad enough all the second guessing for a new QB, now they stoop to making cracks on his name Give em hell J.P. and make em all eat crow! That is just pure BS.

Soon we'll know. After dropping 3, with both anemic defense and offense (passing anyway), it's time for this team to either dig deep and gut out some tough wins (which would give us fans some hope), OR the finger pointing, infighting, blame game starts and the season spirals away. I hope out of adveristy a true team emerges. I must admit like many others, I'm worried it will go the other way. I think we need to stick w Losman. If we postpone finding out what he is made of, (playing Kelly so Losman can take a breather/"develop" on the sidelines by watching, etc.) we will end up at the end of the season wondering if maybe he'll develop/ be ready next year. BS! I don't want to go into next year wondering if he might possibly be something. Play him ALL year. If he is not getting better later in the year, he is not the answer, but at least we will KNOW it. Playoff chances are so slim, it's not worth talking about. This is a DEVELOPMENT year. I'm hoping something hopeful is developing by mid season. Not just JP -that also includes O-line pass blocking, and a defense that regains it's pride. Go Bills

Grand Island/Tonawanda/46/Atlanta GA I remember learning about what the Buffalo Bills were when Ron McDole moved in 3 doors down from us on Grand Island. I was 5 or 6 yrs old. He was BIG.
