  1. If this was strategic, as opposed to reactive, it would’ve happened a month ago before all of the WR-needy teams picked a mate, or during the draft.  This was a reaction to something, plain and simple.  And it’s a terrible look for the organization - they signed him to this contract and kept adding money to it, yet they couldn’t make it work.  And this regime ALWAYS finds some reason why they have to wait to fix the offense until some future year.  ALWAYS.

Do I think it plays a part? Sure. But there is also a good degree of randomness to them.

There is randomness to which side recovers a fumble but that's about it.  McD's playoff philosophy, especially when Leslie was his DC, was "we're not going to change what got us here."  That's a terrible philosophy in the playoffs against elite playcallers and game planners and it probably explains the turnover discrepancy @HappyDays cited.

That's not accurate.  Watch this in its entirety and tell me which route you don't see.

I see Justin Jefferson-like skills in those clips.

Anquan Boldin, George Pickens dropped in the draft because of the "can't separate" crap. Coleman makes plays!! He "Moss" DBs. He returns punts. Played at Mich. St, cold climate. Think Drake London who went top 10 in the draft last year. Or Courtland Sutton. I'm good with Keon.

Pickens dropped because of character concerns not separation ability.

  4. While I am fine with the signing, for this kind of money they could’ve landed D Hop last offseason.  I would really like to get past the era where Beane is still learning hard lessons.  I mean at least he adapts, but damn.

He played just well enough the last half of his last season here that you almost wonder if you'll miss him.  Then you remember he sucked 90 percent of his time here.

Gonna go out on a limb and guess that math isn’t your strong suit.

I like the move, not a huge move but a positive consistent outside WR who is fairly young (will be 28 this upcoming season) and signed to a nice deal. Stats wise he's not that dissimilar from Gabe Davis factoring in that while Gabe had more yards and TD's the past two seasons Samuel was not having Josh Allen throwing to him. Samuel also has a much higher catch percentage with 68% and 69% catch percentages compared to Gabe's rather bad 51% and 55% catch percentages.

It doesn't mean that I still don't think that the Bills shouldn't draft a WR up high as they have to think about adding both depth and someone to down the line take over for Diggs whose suddenly entering his age 31 season and WR's usually hit the wall around age 32/33. BUT this does at the very least give the Bills some flexibility in terms of where they can go with picks 28 and 60. They can trade down to pick up extra picks in this and the 2025 draft if a trade-down presents its self. They can overload the WR position and just take one at pick 28 or they can address another need (maybe take the best center in the draft and just build a wall on the O-line or take a defensive player).

It can kind of look like a lateral move replacing Gabe with a player who puts up similar numbers (but given that Samuel is significantly cheaper a lateral move is still a positive move) but I like the fit better with Samuel being a more sure handed reciever. Drops can kill an offense and having a player with a much better catch percentage on similar volume makes a positive impact and opens up the draft board.

Samuel can actually uncover within the first 5-10 yards; Gabe can’t.

This play encapsulates what a knucklehead he is.  Notice he gets open, gets the ball, then slides down without being touched.  He’s a weird guy on and off the field.  Has some Robert Royal to his game - he’ll get wide open then let the ball bounce off his his facemask 20 yards into the air.

This guy is a true clown show.
