It's a good question as to what their "type" is. Their two highest draft picks at the position - Gabe and Khalil are polar opposites and Stef isn't really like either of them. I get wanting to build a diverse room but I don't have a strong sense as to what they will be looking for. We know some of the guys they have passed on... and we have very strong evidence to suggest they loved Addison last year... but I don't know that I can discount or enhance the claims of particular players at the position as Bills fits in the way I can with some other teams.

And I’m including the pro personnel side as well.  Sherfield, Harty, Isabella this year.  Before that you’ve got Sanders’ corpse, Brown’s corpse, Beasley’s corpse, Crowder. I mean wtf are these evaluators looking at?

    Who cares.

As long as McDermott is still the HC, NOTHING changes.

In other words… wash, rinse, repeat…

the Bills will be bounced in the division round in the 2024 season, or worse. And they will find a new Billsy way to choke as well. We have seen this movie before.

    Bank on it.

    Prozac works dude.

  3. You’ve got units where players clearly improved and developed and became better versions of themselves: linebackers on defense, running backs and tight ends and maybe the o-line on offense.

Then you’ve got units where players obviously stagnated or got worse:  d-line (except Oliver) on defense, wide receivers on offense.

Then there are units with mixed results - secondary (no young safeties have developed, Elam has not developed), possibly QB.

Lastly you’ve got units where, across the board, nearly everything and everyone underperformed: special teams.

I would move on from Smiley, Washington and Henry, but McD might want to keep them around as weight to toss overboard if things start to go south next season.

The call wasn't fine. If I'm KC, the Buffalo punter has already demonstrated that he's a liability, and if they're ever going to run a fake, it's going to be when they're fielding an unreliable kicker. And giving it to a scrub who needed to get five yards? If you're going for it, give it to Josh Allen.

I don't think they were going for it until they realized KC had 10 men on the field.  I could be wrong, but that's what I understood.

As a very slowly decompress from last night I find myself remembering how frustrated I was in the second half.

Cook was getting stuffed often. KC had adjusted to the run.

The situation was prime for play action, bootlegs, and screens. Allen picked up some tough yards as the game went on.

Brady never adjusted to the run blitzes in the second half.  They kept running Cook into the teeth of the blitz.

    From the BN:

“Defensive tackle Ed Oliver had his lunch handed to him by Chiefs guard Joe Thuney. According to Next Gen Stats, Oliver had 10 one-on-one matchups against Thuney and failed to create a single pressure. Oliver and DaQuan Jones were held without a pressure on a combined 38 pass rushes.”

Odd because I literally saw him create at least two pressures.

We all know they are going to run it back and try to sell the idea that guys will be back from injury and the young guys are getting better.

Next year around this time, we’ll all be here for the same discussion and it’ll be the same plan and then finally in 2027, the plan will change because there is no other choice but a cap re-set year and the team will lose 8 games because Allen will still carry them beyond where they deserve to be.  In the end, Allen will go down as Dan Marino’s successor as the guy that had to do it all for a team that could never hold up their end of the bargain and retire without a title, but tons of records.

    Ok.

The pass was there, protection never held.  If he goes underneath there is still no guarantee if gets off an accurate pass. No guarantee it doesn’t lead to a missed Bass FG either.

It’s laughable that the fans are scared to score a TD to early because they are more worried about the D not making a stop.  Says all you need to know about this team and this staff. Also says a lot about what the expectations are for Allen here. Asking him to pass up an open WR in the endzone when you need a TD so you can save a few clicks of the clock.  Who knows if you’ll get another look like that in upcoming plays.  ***** hilarious

Totally agree.  Plus Diggs was running to the side of the field Jones was rushing from - not as easy a throw as it looked.  Plus Diggs wasn’t playing as though he was engaged - who knows what happens with a pass in his direction.  Plus there is an alternative reality where Shakir scores and then Bass misses the XP and the Chiefs go down and tie it…

  9. Don’t forget Kincaid who single-handedly saved TWO fumbles from becoming turnovers.  Beyond impressed with those two kids.  Way more heart today than Diggs displayed, for example.

Gonna likely step into Davis #2 role next year and likely will put up 800+ yards in it.

He can’t play that role.  He’s a slot.

On a positive note, ESPN will at least have a highlight to show when they hand Damar the comeback player award. So there’s that. Which is nice.

Part of me thinks that’s why they ran him on that play instead of someone who actually had the talent to get the first down.  Someone had their eyes on a Hallmark Moment.  Hope I’m wrong.

  11. Diggs had zero interest in the last month of the season and seemed totally checked out tonight.  He fumbled on the first play!  And dropped what could’ve been a game-winning bomb.  He became a bit of a bitchass this season and tonight was the cherry on top.

Yep... He's a choker... I blame the terrible play call strategy after the 2 minute warning on McD's inability to strategize down the stretch. During the 2 minute warning I had already laid out the strategy in a text to my Nephew...lol... It's so obvious what has to happen there...You need 9 yards first... We had been dinking and dunking them to death all night. Give me your best two plays for short yardage and stay inbounds. Hopefully you get exactly 9 or 10 and it's 1st and 10 from around the 17...Now they have to take their TO's... You run on 1st for sure...But maybe a Josh run so you have an extra blocker... Bully them...You get another 1st and the Chiefs are in BIG, big trouble. No matter what, you play it this way and at least the FG try is closer. Not that it would matter because Bass sucks...

Instead we take a shot on 1st down... Incomplete... Because of course it is... Then the 3rd down is incomplete... And of course...Bass sucks...

    Game over... McD schooled again.

McD isn’t calling the plays.  I understand he should be dictating the strategy but what you’re describing is probably unrealistic for a defensive head coach.  Maybe a defensive head coach is the wrong solution but that’s a different issue.

Not to mention $9M to Floyd. Sure he was good in the regular season, but did we really need to spend $9M on defensive end when we already invested how many high draft picks and capital on the D-line?

Floyd was a difference maker in multiple games.  Without that signing they don’t make it this far.  Epanesa, on the other hand, was on a milk carton.

I wouldn't say that it's all due to the failure to acquire one particular player,  but yes,  the front office deserves considerable blame for not adequately addressing the WR position the last two seasons.

It’s just - in this particular instance that one player was there for the taking and was EXACTLY what this offense needed and missed all year and especially tonight.  Beane needs to stop sucking on his thumb and get his QB some help.  It’s insane what has gone on with this offense in the offseasons.
