  1. But even if you thought 11 was a lot - 8, which is what we'll be at after adding Phillips and most likely losing Lotulelei, is the absolute minimum.
  2. Not crowded. Hell, we have room to add to it. Last season, we carried SIX DE's. Right now we have 4. Epenesa has shown little to nothing in his first 2 seasons. Basham was a healthy scratch for most of the season with the coaches viewing him as bottom of the DE depth chart. They will be rotational pieces and honestly, that's where they belong right now. Last season we carried 5 DT's. Right now we're carrying 4. Phillips isn't a 1T. But Settle and Jones are. Phillips will rotate with Oliver. Settle and Jones will rotate with each other. And Lotulelei may be a post 6/1 cut.
  3. To add to this, he never signed here. Free Agency didn't officially start until today. Monday to Wednesday, players can agree to deals with new teams - but they can't officially sign until Wednesday at 4 PM. So he agreed to a deal with us yesterday, but before he officially signed, he changed his mind and re-signed with Washington.
  4. Bit of a leap from what I posted, but okay. Obviously, this team's still a beast with our core in place. But when it comes to improving pass rush from the Edge which was looked at as one of our top needs with only 3 DE's under contract and no real game changers, that window is closing and closing fast.
  5. Backup QB won't be addressed until the carousel stops spinning and the best guy to not get a gig to start or compete to start is revealed. Tight End market is insane right now and I'd expect them to either draft Tommy Sweeney's replacement or address it later with the best available veteran FA after the markets slowed down.
  6. He's a name. That's about it. Atlanta let him leave, Tennessee had him for a year and cut him. If he was "still really good" neither would have happened.
  7. Shaq says he wants to be back and is trying. Jordan is making it seem as though he IS back. I think he'd look real dumb saying the stuff he's been saying if he didn't know it was going down.
  8. Rough couple hours. Chandler Jones signs with the Raiders. Yannick Ngakoue traded to the Colts. Von Miller reportedly going to return to the Rams. Uchenna Nwosu (who we were linked to) signs with the Seahawks. And now Za'Darius Smith signs with the Ravens. Starting to become real slim pickens at Defensive End. Highest ranked available in the PFT Top 100 being Jadeveon Clowney (who I don't see being a fit), Melvin Ingram, and... Jerry Hughes.
  9. But I don't understand? I was told by numerous posters on this board that the lack of Cap space doesn't matter? Hopefully, this is a learning experience for a lot of you.
  10. It's a fake account made to rile people up. Like Adam Schefter accounts where they add another R at the end hoping people won't notice.
  11. Seems to be mutual interest between Von and Dallas now that Randy Gregory signed with Denver. And he's still interested in returning to LA. He said he'd only entertain other offers if he can't get a deal done with the Rams. I'd definitely welcome Von, but there hasn't been noise connecting him to Buffalo.
  12. Improving the middle of the D is fine. But if we're relying on Epenesa or Basham on the other side of Rousseau, we got problems. Epenesa in two years has shown nothing and Basham was a healthy scratch most of the season.
  13. I'd expect a veteran on a low cost deal later in FA and a fast WR drafted in Rounds 1 or 2 to join Diggs, Davis, and McKenzie and that will be that.
  14. A lot of you sound like fans thought bought into the "rumors" of players like Barkley and CMC and are butthurt it isn't them.
  15. Even if it's not a big time move like Chandler Jones or Danielle Hunter, they have to add to the position. 3 of the 6 Defensive Ends that we had on the 53 man roster last season are Free Agents. You can't go into the season with 3 DE's.
  16. Agreed. I HIGHLY doubt we were interested in paying 8 mil this year and 12 mil every year after that AND give up premium draft picks for a guy who can't stay healthy and would essentially move Singletary to the bench most of the time, coming off the best he's ever looked. Maybe called. Made a small offer, looked to see if McCaffrey would rework his deal, and when those didn't come to be, neither side was interested. Always assumed they'd look at a guy who could provide more in the receiving game, was a better blocker, and more clutch on 3rd downs when they needed to give Singletary a breather. And that's exactly what they did.
  17. This is kind of where I'm at. Hicks is a good player. But if you're going to sign and pay Hicks, why would you pay 11.5 million for Jones and Settle? Seems like a fair amount of cap space just for rotational pieces. I wouldn't be opposed to Hicks, but we really need to get help at DE. Would be an 8 million dead cap hit. I don't see it.
  18. ... but why? He was a lot of steak but no sizzle. He had a great game against Carolina, but showed absolutely nothing in the other 18 games.
  19. Nope. They'd be better off keeping him and not playing him much than they would releasing him. Beane isn't the type of GM to take on 8 million in Dead Cap.
  20. I just feel that possible mid to late round picks that you won't be able to use until over a year later shouldn't be a deciding factor on improving your team in the now. If it works out that way, great. But Beane shouldn't be not making moves that he wants to make or moves that could help the team because we might get an extra pick or picks on Day 2 or 3 a year down the road.
