What do you mean I can't drink on the job anymore
bills_fan replied to bills_fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Or a brewmaster at EBC or Pearl St? -
Its not the believe in God that irks me at all, but that God would somehow care whether Newt ran for Pres. And the Republicans brought the scorn on themselves with the whole concept of a "moral majority" and focusing far more on social issues than on fiscal ones. And to bring the thread full circle, the hypocritical nature of Gingrich, such as leading the charge against Clinton while having his own on-the-side amongst other things, would IMHO ensure a Republican defeat in 2012.
-
Please. No. Man's a hypocrite and a snake. The ultimate Washington insider to bring "change"? I'd rather throw my support behind a Romney (who I'm not a big fan of either). EDIT: And after reading the article I want to vomit even more. Asked whether he is running for Pres, he says its up to God? Are you friggin' kidding me? That crap is why the Republicans were marginalized and mocked in the first place. Stick with the small gov't, less spending platform and they will do well. Bring religion into it and they are toast. Again.

Yes. They do. Many of them. -
Obamanomics-Iceland style

Lets think about the wisdom of ever taking on debt that must be repaid in another currency. Holy f*cking stupid Batman! If you ever see any country issue debt that must be repaid in a currency that is not issued in that country, short the hell out of it. -
I could live with that!

Bulaga will be a beast in the run game and due to his technical ability will be serviceable in the pass game. Guess what, we should be a mauling, run-first offense anyway. So that will play nicely.

Airlines begin charging for CARRY ONS
bills_fan replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I flew them to Myrtle as well. BTW - KD, flying into Wilmington direct on USAir and renting a car for the drive to MB worked out very nicely. Wilimington is a very easy airport to fly in/out of and the drive took about 1.5 hours. Not too bad. -
You mean like the Ellicott Square Building? Or the Guaranty Building? Or even the historic gas station on Delaware and Allen? C'mon...Carl has owned and maintained many historic buildings in the city. The above statement doesn't match the facts.

I love Carl, he's great guy. I worked for him for a year during my 3rd year of law school. He could not have been a nicer guy to work for. He also loves going out. I'd see him out on Chippewa Street till 3 or 4 AM, partying with all the 22 year olds. It was awesome. He has my unequivocal support. He may be nuts, but he won't take any sh*t from anyone.

I think it would be hysterical if the final 4 was Butler, Cornell, St. Mary's and Northern Iowa.

Because they have done such a good job with their own state pensions...wow the truly brass balls of these people...November cannot come fast enough! And this... So, again, punish the responsible and reward the irresponsible.....un-f*cking-believable! http://www.seiu.org/2009/03/seiu-coalition...-initiative.php http://moneynews.com/StreetTalk/unions-401...03/17/id/328862

I agree with some of that article, but the key is the individual mandate. The mandate is not a commerce clause question since health insurance is not a fungible good (see my post on page 1 of this thread). Commerce clause is out as a justification for the mandate. The author does not even address this point.

YES!!!! Hallalujeh!! Now we can finally make a Cup run (you don't think the hockey gods would have let a team with the slug logo touch the Cup do you?) This is OUTSTANDING!!!! Now, which jersey to buy...Miller or Myers? Maybe the Bills will do the same? Pretty please?

McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
bills_fan replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we could ever get him for a 3 and a 5, that would be awesome. Get LT in Rd1, NT in Rd2 and McNabb as the QB. We'd be pretty competitive next year. -
Does Clausen have the arm for the Buffalo winds? I ask because I don't know.

Yes, but your company is a for-profit private enetrprise requiring its employees to do something as an employment condition. Its no different than a company scheduling diversity classes for all its employees. If you don't like it, you can go work elsewhere. No big deal. That is totally different from this bill.

Auto insurance is a bad example. You can choose not to drive and then do not need auto insurance. Health insurance is not the same. As presently worded, if you exist in the USA, you must be a consumer of a health insurance company. Totally different things. Auto-insurance is an opt-in, you choose to drive, here are the rules. You do not need auto insurance if you do not choose to drive. Health insurance...eh, notsomuch. The question is if Congress has the constitutional authority to require Americans to purchase a commodity from a private, for-profit corporation. I can say with certainty that the government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States. This is a question worth examining. Most will cite the commerce clause as the reason Congress can force the individual mandate on folks. However, in 1982, the Supreme Court declared that, in order for a commodity to be considered an article in commerce, it must be capable of being sold (i.e the "fungible good" test). Sporhase v. Nebraska, 458 U.S. 941 at 949 -- 950 (1982). While there is no doubt that the sale of health insurance by an insurer constitutes commerce, it does not follow that the purchase -- or more precisely, the failure to purchase -- health insurance by a consumer also constitutes commerce. Health insurance, once purchased by a consumer, is not capable of being further sold in commerce because there is no market for it; who would purchase a health insurance policy naming someone else as the insured? Therefore, it may not be a fungible good and thus the commerce clause would not apply. About the only argument for the constitutionality of the individual mandate that I can reason out is that Article I empowers Congress to use its taxing powers in support of government programs that foster the public welfare; this is the constitutional authority for Social Security and Medicare. But to extend that authority to requiring Americans to purchase a private commodity raises profound civil liberties issues. If Congress can compel the purchase of insurance from a for profit insurance company, it can compel the purchase of any commodity if there is an arguable public policy to support it. The auto industry is collapsing? Forget Cash for Clunkers, just order Americans to buy America cars or tax them if they don't. Obesity crisis? Order Americans to join health clubs, or tax them if they don't. So, the fundamental question that the Supreme Court will undoubtedly tackle in an individual claim (forget the state 10th Amendment cases, they never win those cases, best case will be brought by an individual) is whether Congress has the authority to make Americans into involuntary consumers whenever it so chooses. EDIT: Let me be clear, the bill is likely constitutional. The real debate is the individual mandate. If the Court decides the individual mandate is unconstitutional, it is likely to strike that provision and leave the rest of the bill. This, of course, would create the single greatest shorting opportunity since Paulson cherry-picked mortgages for Abacus and made billions...insurance companies cannot deny coverage and only sick people would buy coverage, since the healthy are not required to buy. Hello bankruptcy.

Do you use one of those fancy multi bladed razors?
bills_fan replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I use a Mach 3 and try to stretch it for a few weeks. My question is if anyone ever tried the blade-sharpener they advertise on informercials and if it works. Or even a straight razor like at the barbershop. I'm tempted to try something new given the cost of the damn refills. -
2nd rd pick of Baltimore in 2004. Played pretty well before getting hurt. Came back in Week 6 last year and from all indications played pretty well. If he fits and they like him, do it. We can never have enough depth in the front 7, especially from guys who have played in the 3-4 before.

Excellent signing. I am very happy. Davis and Poz in the middle, Schobel (maybe) and Maybin at WOLB, Mitchell at SOLB. Our LBs are suddenly looking pretty nice!
