  1. No, I'm not comparing 1969 and 1970 to today. Merely referring, I guess, to the old adage that even a blind chicken gets a kernel of corn now and then. Reed, Polamalu, that 'Skins safety, have had some effect. If you can offer an alternative explanation why - these days - decent DBs command such a high price - do so.
  2. 2 carries from scrimmage last season IIRC. As you imply, there's value in getting the back-up RBs into the swing of things when the situation presents.
  3. ...etc. You're a darn good writer, LA!
  4. Dawgg, I get the feeling that you think the Bills somehow were bozos for taking Whitner at #8...that they didn't squeeze the nickel hard enough. They had strong question marks at that position and took a player that evidently a number of other clubs had their eye on. What's wrong with that? We all know that drafting will never approach anything like an exact science. Several decades ago, a moribund franchise named the Steelers had two years of drafts that turned out stellar beyond all expectations. Their history before that wasn't very good. Lucky them. Some big shot football folks, well-regarded for their acumen, have picked Class A duds. And it will happen again. I certainly understand the value of DL pressure. I'm a big fan of getting top OLs and a strong LB corps. But the rule changes through the past few years favor the pass game, and whether one likes it or not, it's pretty tough for a GM to turn his back on good DB talent when it presents itself.
  5. Moreso than Hemmingway, Steinbeck, Sinclair, Thurber, and Updike?
  6. Take a flyer on earplug stocks, too.
  7. Well, it's the 5th game of the season, and even if their record isn't so good at that point there would likely be a lot of fan enthusiasm remaining.
  8. Nice to hear from ya !
  9. Jimmy Carter would have Cuban prisoners form a human chain to save you. Bill Clinton would save you, but only if you were wearing a blue dress. Planned Parenthood would throw you a box of rubbers and tell you to inflate and tie 'em. Janet Reno would send some burly ATF agents to grab you and fling you in the direction of Cuba. A passer-by with a camera phone will put you on Youtube so several million Americans can urge your demise.

  11. This is great! Last season, not a single Bflo game was broadcast in the Cincy area. But with the B'gals having six 4 PM or later games, the Bills having the 4 and 8:30 PM games, and the fact that they play the AFC North should add up to a lot of Bills game showing up on my tv!
  12. Appreciate your post, Disco...nice to hear what he said to you.
  13. There's nothing to fire me from!
  14. Eh, he's just another show biz piece of shiny cardboard. Laugh at him, I say.
  15. Yep...last year, they were in the bottom half in strength of schedule before the season started. Then due in large part to the surprise showings of the Jets, Ravens, and Tennessee, plus SD's gaudy 14 and 2, folks were crowing about how the team had the toughest schedule. And they bitched about having 4 games in November. So what?...last time I looked, having 4 of your last 6 games at home is generally considered a good happenstance. And you are likely right about if they get waxed by NE twice.
  16. Whatever one thinks of WMG, I'm pretty sure that CLE, CIN and PGH would have preferred that he landed in another division.
  17. I figure that in about 10 years, everybody 30 years younger than me will be as deaf as a rock. If I'm still alive, I plan on stealing everything you have.
  18. A Marine honor guard showed up in Toronto, too. They were from the Bflo. area and knew that the pointy end of the maple leaf goes up.
  19. Thanks...the clarification of what happened is appreciated!
  20. Hi-ho, Hi-ho, it's off to Ruts we go...
  21. In 1992, Toronto and Atlanta met in the World Series. In Atlanta, a US Marine detachment walked out the Canadian flag - upside down. As the games moved to Toronto, Canadians were spotted in the stands wearing garb that said "The Marines...The Proud...The Dyslexic".
  22. I think you know what happen to blasphemers...
