Why?

How'd that play out last season?
-
James did a good job for CIN in his first couple of years - got a Pro bowl berth - but has indeed slowed up. ..."GONE: Former Bengals cornerback Tory James has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with New England. James was an unrestricted free agent after playing four seasons with the Bengals. The team made no attempt to re-sign him. Former first-round pick Johnathan Joseph is expected to start where James did in 2006, opposite Deltha O'Neal. James could earn $1.35 million, with incentives upping the potential value of the package to $2.7 million. He had four interceptions in 2006, bringing his NFL total to 42. James had slowed considerably over the past season and a half.". http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art.../704180358/1066

Should we try and trade for Clinton Portis
stuckincincy replied to marck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where would the $$$ come from for the likes of big-contract Portis, even if he is healthy? -
You do a nice two-step...

Leave that to me.

Mix it with ammonium nitrate and report back.

I'm surprised. Sad. Ask Kurt.

Poz's knee criticized, yet AP seemingly gets a pass

After a year+. Now he's gone. Care to wait? There's a #12 at stake...spend wisely. -
Clinton never showed up to visit Oklahoma City after the bombing, or to NYC after the first World Trade Center attack. Ever wonder why?

"Yet have my maligners carried their censures still further.". So says Jeddeiah Cleishbotham's prolegomenon to Walter Scott's "To the Heart of Mid-Lothian"... -

I also have concerns about the old adage.."Polishing the pig". One of the ways in the NFL to boost the gate is to get a spiffy running back...sure-fire way to sell some tix. Cincy had some success with this, with Corey Dillon. Sure, he is a fine RB, and obviously helped NE. And CIN took pains to obtain a great run blocking OL to support him...pass blocking didn't matter. Dillon got glory numbers on a losing team. -
Funny...folks point out Poz's knee, but accord Petersen grace for his injury history, most recent being a season-ending broken collarbone.... ..."Despite all that success, Peterson has been fairly injury-prone in his Oklahoma career. He dislocated his left shoulder in fall practice in 2004, reaggravated it during the regular season and then had surgery in the offseason. He missed one game last season and was severely limited in three others with a sprained right ankle."... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2625553

I agree it's doubtful, but if they were to expend a 7th round pick on a QB, I'd speculate it would be a "slash" type. Last draft, CIN took the Texas A&M QB, Reggie McNeal in the 6th, as a WR. He balked and said he wanted to play QB...they said take it or leave it. He took it. Anthony Wright signed with the Giants...good for him; good guy. The B'gals may well dub Doug Johnson as their #2. I think it's so, that you can suit up your #3 and not be assessed a game-day roster spot. If that's so, I could see them keeping McNeal on the 53 man squad, (he does get practice snaps at QB) but saving a game-day spot if he's not in their WR plans that day. Or my contention is completely wrong...

Fixed your post. Toyota goes to great lengths to tell us their trucks are made in the U.S.A. Waaaaay back when, when there were some tariffs on imported pick-up trucks, Toyota built a truck bed plant in California...in Fremont or Van Nuys, I forget which. They shipped chassis cabs, and then installed the Cali-made beds, thus skirting law. That tariff came about because of the so-called "Chicken War". Long before Toyota's two-step, the Europeans stuck tariffs on U.S. poultry imports. The U.S. fought back via the imported truck tariff. Not that there were many European pick-ups...VW had an open-bed version of the Microbus, but it was no longer imported when the tariff was imposed. You used to be able to buy Vanagon open-bed models in Canada, though...but they could not be registered here.

Don't knock it. Chronic losing resulted in the Cardinals, Bengals, and Lions owners being rewarded with new stadiums. -
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,266310,00.html Police: 22 Dead After Virginia Tech University Shooting Monday, April 16, 2007 BLACKSBURG, Va. — At least 22 are dead after a shooting at Virginia Tech University Monday morning, the campus police chief said. Police said there was only one shooter and he is now dead. They are unsure if the shooter was a student. "Today the university was struck by a tragedy we consider of monumental proportions," Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said during a press conference shortly after noon. "I cannot begin to convey my own personal sense of loss over this senseless, incomprehensible, heinous act." A spokeswoman at Montgomery Regional Hospital said 17 students were being treated there for gunshot wounds, and Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg reports that four people with gunshot wounds were being treated there. Carilion spokeswoman Sharon Honaker said one was in critical condition and three others were stable.

Tell me what you know about Nashville

TN is a low-tax State...need I say more? The majority of revenue comes from a high sales tax, not income tax...so shop in Kentucky. IIRC, they do have hefty investment income taxation, so leave before you retire, and continue to keep your current fortune off-shore. http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/pf/070...endliest/8.html -
Or we could draft Ginn, then obtain Turner and have him lead the return wedge on kick-offs. Everybody's happy!

RUMOR: Keith Olbermann to join CBS Pre-Game Show

If you like, you could cite the Clinton Administration's accomplishments for the items on your list. . Don't forget the meteoric rise of the trade deficit, the birth of entities like Enron, Global Crossing, and Tyco, the recession on his way out, the record number of Presidential pardons, Ruby Ridge, the African embassy bombings, the Khobar Tower Bombings, Waco, the Oklahoma City Bombing, the Rose Law Firm, Elian Gonzales, regulations that prevented the CIA and the FBI share information, tax increases, the USS Cole bombing, Vince Foster,, Casa Grande, Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky and other women, disbarrment, impeachment, over 100 Administration officials "taking the 5th", Ron Brown, nuclear secrets to China, and so on. Don't forget Sandy Burger stealing top-secret documents from the Archives. Still wondering why with 8 years in office, Clinton didn't "fix" social security... .."the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history, Pelosi said. ..." Well, the claims for the first hundred days of this Democratic congress didn't quite meet stated expectations. Can any of you acolytes tell us what this new and improved Congress and its leadership have done, so far? Other than loading up on pork, offering up a record-smashing tax increase, holding investigations, or traveling to and making kissy-kissy with terrorist States? -
"Bomb" seems to be the appropriate term...it was second to last in opening day receipts. Should be in the 2nd-run theaters next week and for sale on DVD the week after.
