  1. Dr. D - seems as if your bacon may be saved: Homebuyer credit deadline extended GARNER ROBERTS Abilene Reporter-News Posted July 1, 2010 at 10:01 p.m. "Congress has given homebuyer who signed a contract by April 30 another 90 days to qualify for up to $8,000 in federal tax credits. The House of Representatives approved the measure Tuesday, and the Senate gave its unanimous consent Wednesday night for an extension of the benefits in the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act. The original deadline for closing was April 30 to qualify for the tax credit and June 30 to finish the deal. But homebuyers now have until Sept. 30 to complete their purchases. “This is only good news for people who were under contract by April 30 but haven’t been able to close, maybe through no fault of their own,” Robert Calk of Sentor Realtors and president of the Abilene Board of Realtors said Thursday."... http://www.reporternews.com/news/2010/jul/...dline-extended/
  2. The movie buzz here in Cincy is this: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=67420 Local actor auditioned for Spider Man 4, replacing McGuire. My wife knows his Dad.
  3. A blast from the past - Benderson construction and development of Bflo. Never expected to hear that name!
  4. You and yours, too! My wife already installed a mat under the bed, for one of our cats that considers the neighborhood booming the onset of WWIII. I used to be a big fan of bottle rockets. I fondly remember firing off a volley under the door crack of an outhouse one evening in one of those cobbled-up hunter trailer camps that pepper the territory around the Allegheny Nat'l Forest in NW Pennsylvania. We barred the door so he couldn't escape and he was howling and threatened murder. Booze is booze... He got his revenge - whacked me square between the shoulder blades with an oar as I was gazing at the river, and I of course pitched forward and fell face first into the bank muck. Jeeze - the goofy things you do when you were young! Interesting altered state facts: If you toss glass beer bottles into a long-running campfire, they melt and flow. Fireflies hunker down for the evening, but if you go take a wizz onto the ground, they light up to protest your action.
  5. Scored then marinated in a mix of light olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, a bit of tumeric, marjoram, paprika, and onion powder, and some $1 generic mild barbecue sauce overnight. Then wiped off, with some kosher salt for the broil.
  6. I am broiling a flank steak for the 4th. My understanding is that a red wine is popularly considered to be the compliment to red meat. Fine with me; I don't care for white - except for Muscatel, which I have always found to have a good, piquant kick for the buck. I know nothing about wine - I like it, but I do not have any sort of discriminating palette to speak of for it.
  7. If he's smart (and he is) he'll go to a no State tax locale. Given the value of whatever contract he inks, he could save $10M+. Who wouldn't like that?
  8. How much did you offer as a down payment? 20%+ hard cash laid down on the table usually expedites things.
  9. "She'll probably claim she was set up, or they're not her shoes, or Eleonore Lieven did it, or some such nonsense, but a lawsuit alleges Lindsay Lohan concocted a plan to defraud an L.A. boutique out of thousands of dollars in ... shoes."... http://www.epicstudios.org/lindsay-lohan-s...editated-fraud/

  12. IND's #1 wr Anthony Gonzales comes to mind. I live in SW Ohio, so see a lot of OSU football. They are stocked with top OL, DL, LB, DB, etc. Forever. Smith was a fine college qb. With a great supporting cast. As I mentioned above - if available, bring him in for a tryout.
  13. Heh - anybody remember his and Sestak's restaurant on Elmwood in Kenmore? It was a somewhat popular "love nest" for marrieds on the hunt or run in the evenings for a while. Heading north up Elmwood was the "Penalty Shot." IIRC, the original ownership was Schoenfeld and Spencer. It turned into a skull-pop place. I haven't visited WNY for 9 years now. But even back then, I got the impression that Kenmore viewed a drinking man as a profit opportunity to be halted and have one's wallet emptied. If I ever visit the area again, there is no Kenmore business that will ever see a dime of my money.
  14. His NFL stats to date - not so shining... http://www.nfl.com/players/troysmith/profile?id=SMI764846 Smith was a 5th round pick by BAL in '07. But, yes, if he came on the cheap for a look-see, why not? It can't hurt. I wouldn't talk about being a starter - unless he somehow shows he is loaded with talent yet undiscovered after 3 years' league service. You never know, though. He was a fine qb in a college program that is always loaded and re-stocked with the best of high school players. AFAIK, a decent young man.
  15. Who says? You better work the phones and haunt the waiver wire because you will need it. You put 4 in the backfield - chronically - you will need a backhoe to exctricate this or that one from the turf if you play me.

  19. Hmm - I think that was Eric Steinbach. There were no reports of of any abuse by him or by the policemen there, and certainly no resisting. Perhaps you are in error here.
  20. Sorry - I thought the reference was to Benson's age.
  21. We are in the doldrums - they have to crank out copy regardless....
  22. They might try a rollout from time to time - maybe. Running (and proudly announcing) a quick huddle offense was stupefying. Fast forward - we want a scatback in the draft and we are going to a 3-4. Here everybody! - here are our plans!
  23. Why anyone would bring diabetes into this thread escapes me...
