Interesting perspective from Todd France
sfladave replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Refuse it. As stuckincincy said the Bills do not have anyone on the club to replace him. Now if someone offered 2 number 1s then you'd have to seriously consider the trade. -

What should the Bills have done at QB
sfladave replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense but I think that the vast majority of people here would say the same thing about you. -
Obviously this list was made before players were franchised. It is interesting that the most talked about FAs on this board are number 1 and 2. Damn I was hoping we were the only ones who knew about these guys! Top 10 free agents: Backs and old guys need not apply Feb. 9, 2006 By Pete Prisco CBS SportsLine.com Senior Writer Tell Pete your opinion! Judge: Position-by-position This is the top 10. Just remember: No backs and no players older than 28. 1. Steve Hutchinson, G, Seahawks: He is far and away the best at his position in the league. He is a mauler who teams with tackle Walter Jones to make up the best side of any line in the league. Hutchinson is 28 and will turn 29 in November, but that's young for an interior lineman. Seattle will likely place the franchise tag on him, but if he were to come free, he would be a target for a lot of teams. Normally, I don't condone paying a lot of money to guards, but this is a special player. 2. LeCharles Bentley, C/G, Saints: Bentley is 26 and will not turn 27 until December. He's in the prime of his career. Bentley played guard his first two seasons in the league and center the past two. Some say he's a better guard, but he wants to play center. Wherever he plays, he brings a tough-guy attitude to the job. He doesn't back down to anyone. Just ask Warren Sapp, a player he whipped several times when they were in the same division. The Saints aren't expected to put the franchise tag on him and Bentley wants out of New Orleans, so look for him to hit the market. 3. John Abraham, DE, Jets: Abraham will be 28 in May, so he's in that target age. Abraham had 10½ sacks last year and 53½ in the past six seasons. He is a speed rusher, and those guys are hard to find. He does come with some off-field issues, but he's not that bad a guy. With teams desperate for pass rushers, he will sign early if he hits the market. The Jets would like to keep him, but they have cap issues that might make that tough to do. 4. Drew Brees, QB, Chargers: He just turned 27, so he has a lot of good football in front of him. It's highly unlikely that he is on this list when the period starts because he'll either get tagged or signed. He is coming off shoulder surgery, which has to be a concern to the Chargers. But it also might help drive down his price. He'll be back in San Diego, but for now he finds a spot on this list. 5. Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts: The Colts have indicated they will make Wayne a priority rather than James. That makes sense, too. The Colts are a pass-oriented team and Wayne has emerged as a big-time talent opposite Marvin Harrison. He has 160 catches the past two seasons. It's tough to let that leave. At 28, he fits the age requirements. 6. Julian Peterson, OLB, 49ers: Coming off a torn Achilles' tendon in 2004, Peterson didn't play as well in 2005 as he has in the past. But he's still a talented player who can be disruptive in the pass game and playing the run. He turns 28 in July, so he has his best football in front of him. 7. Nate Clements, CB, Bills: With a lot of teams in need of corner help, Clements is the best of the class. He is a tough guy who can cover and is a good tackler. He is 26 and won't turn 27 until December. He is what a lot of teams want in their corners. If the Bills don't franchise him, he will be gone early in free agency. 8. Chris Hope, S, Steelers: He had more tackles and more interceptions than Troy Polamalu, but he doesn’t get the due his teammate gets. But Hope is a player. He is rangy and he will hit you. The Steelers will do everything they can to keep him, but he might hit the market. If he does, he is a guy a lot of teams should look at closely. This is a heck of a player. Plus, he's only 25. 9. Rocky Bernard, DT, Seahawks: He came on strong last season, which is a sign he's an ascending player. Bernard is more quick than powerful, which helped him get 8½ sacks. He is much like Rod Coleman, who Atlanta signed away from Oakland. Defensive tackles who can get to the quarterback are tough to find. That's why the 26-year-old Bernard finds his way onto the list. 10. Will Witherspoon, LB, Panthers: For teams looking for a run-and-chase linebacker, Witherspoon is the guy. He isn't big, but he has the speed and athletic ability. He's 25 and will turn 26 in August. He didn't play as well in 2005 as he did in 2004, but with more teams looking for speed on defense, he will get some action.

Probably the best one who could be available in FA!
-
Wow I have to disagree! Good CBs are not a dime a dozen. Nate had a down year last year compared to previous seasons, but he is still a very good cover and physical corner. He also brings continuity to the position with McGee which is very important.
-
If we could use a time machine and get the Ray Lewis from 5 years ago I would say great idea! He is on the sagging side of his career. If anything I would wait and see if the Ravens release himand then make an offer. McGahee is worth a lot more than Lewis is right here, right now.

I wasn't referring to your post when I mentioned this. In fact I think your post made a lot of sense. If Nate were to stay on with the Bills for the next few years under the franchise tag, he would in all likelihood make more than if signed a long term deal. BUT, because these contracts are not guaranteed the only thing a player knows he is getting for sure is upfront money. Thus if Nate were to get seriously hurt this year, a very real concern, under the tag he would stand to lose out on a significant amount of money. -
If there is not a new CBA in place can the teams realistically start FA. We will have no idea what the caps will involve in years 2007 and beyond. I would think that it will be tough to commit to a contract with so much unknown.

Do you think Holcomb is our QB of the future?
sfladave replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's the long awaited sequel to Braveheart. I think a more appropriate poll would have been, "Knowing that Holcomb is not the QB of the future, should the Bills just hand the starting job to JP and give him a year to grow into or out of the position?" Why would you start Holcomb if you don't think he is our future? I know that it is important for JP to earn the respect of his teammates but we won't know if JP can do it until we give him a chance on the field. BY chance I don't mean start him for 1 or 2 games, or pull him after 2 and a half quarters of the second game. -

Nate will not sit out. He would lose out on almost $6 million this year and the Bills still control his destiny. I think both sides will try very hard to work out a long term deal. If they can't Nate will be playing under the tag or will be traded, I think and hope the former. I think that it is ridiculous for people to think Nate should be "happy" to get $5.8 million for playing this year, you are way off base. If Nate does get to play the FA market he would be paid with a $10-15 signing bonus. I don't blame him from wanting to be paid what the market will bear. I think people look at $5-6 million and think that it is a large amount of money as compared to what they will ever make in their lifetime. That is a thought taken totally out of context. We live in a capitalist society, and people should not be looked down upon for for seeking fair compensation. If you think that someone making $6 million or more in a year is unjustified move to a socialist state. -
They took a compilation of 65 mock drafts and assigned the average of where each of the players are rated.

I'm not sure where you got that idea. With the exception of Holcombs Arm, you would be hard pressed to find many Buffalo fans who think that KH is the people's champ. -
Reggie Wayne re-signs with the Colts
sfladave replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where do the Colts get all this money to spend? -
Plus we only save a couple hundred thousand by cutting Vincent, he's here next year for sure.
-
LOL, no ididn't pick up on that! Then again I try not to think of the arm outside of his posts, he's like a broken record.
-
The arm already went on him 3 years ago. His last 2 years with the fish he played terrible. He also hasn't gone a full year without missing multiple games since he became a starter.
-
Good God NO! He has been horrible since he was hurt several years ago. His long passes resemble a punt. Just say NO!
-
How so?
-
I know I have seen work just like that in the past. Who was that guy that designed the new Bills helmet here a year or so ago? It looks like the NFL has accepted his SB logo for next year. His dad must chair the selection committee.

I thought I heard someone say that FA wasn't going to start until April 1st because the revenue sharing and hence the CBA are not done yet. Anyone know anything about this?

There is a luxury in having a 20,000 person waiting list for season tickets. Who by the way pay $50 a year to stay on that list, an extra $1 million a year for the franchise. edited: whoops on the math
