  1. I believe he is due to receive $7-9 million the next few years. He may also have some roster bonus money coming due. If the Bills cut him, he can test the open market. I just don't think that teams will offer him much money. In the last few years there have been several 1st round tackles who haven't lived up to expectations who got no where what they thought they'd get in FA.
  2. Ah yes, the ripple effect. I like some of Rome's interviews, but the rants by the callers and Rome can be maddening.
  3. I was still positioning him on the starting roster, as either a G or T. If the Bills can find a better replacement and can afford to do so, then cut him.
  4. The bottom line is that neither of our QBs did a very good job last year. Holcomb is a known quantity. We know what we have with Holcomb, we don't know what we have in JP. JP hasn't shown us that he is any better, in fact his stats are worse. The difference between the 2 of them is that JP might be able to adjust and take it to the next level. Holcomb we know will not. Holcomb is not going to suddenly elevate his play after 10 years in the league to that consistently good or great level. JP did show improvement last year. It was obvious that the game did slow down some for him, but it needs to slow down a lot more. After releasing Bledsoe the biggest mistake the Bills made last year was not keeping JP in for the majority of the snaps. He lost real game experience and the Bills lost real game evaluation.
  5. Cut him and then resign him to a new $3 million per year, 4 year contract. I don't think that he'll get offers for more than that in FA.
  6. I would love to keep Moulds. He was still demanding double teams last year and that certainly helped Evans. His 10.1ypc stat does not illustrate this contribution that he makes(Bill in NYC ). However it comes down to money. Eric's salary is very high and in relation to our cap it may be just too much. If we are given a choice of keeping Moulds and upgrading our lines like we have the last few years, or cut Moulds and other vets to significantly upgrade our lines it becomes a no brainer. Managing the cap effectively puts the Bills in a tough spot when considering players like Moulds, Williams and Adams. Tough choices have to be made. Choices that may mean Moulds finishes his career elsewhere.
  7. Statistics by their nature are meant to be manipulated. That is why they are such a bad indication of success or failure in micro situations. The sad thing I found during this "research" is that together both of the Bills QBs averaged only 6.125 points per game. Was this because of the QBs, the coaches, the OL, the GM or the play calling? I say all of the above. JP certainly has more upside than Kelly. Will he ever reach that upside? I do not know, but he does have that upside that Kelly does not. If anything, these statistics warrant the approach that many here are calling for, an upgrade at QB. I just think that we have to prioritize and the lines win out in the long end of it. If the salary cap were not an issue and we had unlimited amounts of $s to spend, then yes we could conceivably fix all of our problems right now. Reality dictates a different approach must be made, therefore we start with the foundation, the lines.
  8. OK let's look at how many points each of those Qbs were responsible for during the games they played last year. Kelly played in 10 games, JP in 9. Kelly scored 56 of the teams 134 points in the games that he played. 41% of the points. JP scored 42 of the the teams 104 points in the games that he played. 40% of the points. edit: Kelly averaged 5.6 points in the games he played. JP averaged 4.6 points in the games he played. Kelly was only able to average 1 point per game average better than JP, even though he has the advantage of being a 10 year veteran. This points per game argument has so many holes in it I don't know where to even start. Let's just leave it with a 10 year veteran was barely able to out do a guy who has only started 8 games in his career, and that said veteran has stats that are convincingly worse than Rob Johnson's. Give me your best shot!
  9. I was never anti Holcomb per say. I just didn't think he would take us to the promised land if he was our starter. I did and still do think he was a good pick up in FA as a good back up. I have to admit that even I was a little surprised when I compared his numbers to RJ. RJ>KH
  10. He has a bum shoulder. That is why I hope the Bills have the lines as their main priority as they have said. Put the horse back in front of the cart.
  11. The NFL knows if he failed a test what caused him to fail the test, they just don't divulge that information to us. It will eventually leak out what the actual situation is, until then we can all speculate and assume.
  12. Holcomb has as much a chance of taking us to the SB as Willis has a chance of being God. edit: Unfortunately JP has not shown us that he can take us to the SB either. We do know Holcomb won't, there is still hope JP can. JP did improve dramatically last year as the year progressed, hopefully that progression will continue.
  13. Let's compare Rob Johnson and Kelly Holcomb then. The bold indicates the better between the two. Career games started/games played/years in league: RJ - 29/48/10 KH - 21/34/10 Career QB rating: RJ - 83.6 KH - 79.9 Career Completion %: RJ - 61.3 KH - 64.6 Career passing yards: RJ - 5795 KH - 5401 Career rushing yards: RJ - 877 KH - 30 Career total yards: RJ - 6672 KH - 5431 Career total yards per play: RJ - 7.05 KH - 6.36 Career TD/INT: RJ - 30/23 KH - 37/37 Career fumbles: RJ - 14 KH - 24 Career YPC: RJ - 7.19 KH - 6.67 Career 20+ yard completions: RJ - 76 KH - 54 Career 40+ yard completions: RJ - 14 KH - 9 Career seaons with 100+ QB rating: RJ - 3 (total 15 games played) KH - 1 (total 1 game played) Now explain to me why we should think Holcomb is anything more than an OK back up. He doesn't even beat Rob Johnson on 12/13 categories.
  14. The funny thing is that is exactly what people say about Kelly Holcomb. You have to bear in mind that it's a possibility.
  15. I would not have paid Jennings the money he got from SF, especially given his history of injury problems. Then again he was never in the same class as Jones or Pace.
  16. I never trusted Hobits, they may have helped save the middle earth, but are they working at destroying the ?upper? earth?
  17. The link Brandon provided showed the NFL released the news March 21st last year. I would assume sometime around then this year.
  18. I believe that a player getss a 20% raise over their salary the previous year or the average of the top 5, which ever is higher. Therfore if Nate gets $5.8 million this year he will get at least $6.9 million next year if he is tagged again. A long term deal rather than tagging each year is definately better for cap purposes.
  19. Rumors is that the formula does in fact contain pickle juice. I also heard that it takes longer than people think to complete the formula.
  20. I had to pick other. Who is that guy who is always yelling! Help me out here.
  21. From an article after he failed his 3rd test. "The Texas product failed his first drug test soon after arriving in Miami in 2002. He spent much of his two seasons with the Dolphins in the league's drug program, as he saw a therapist weekly and was subjected to eight to 10 random urine tests a month at his home."
  22. Stop being so cantankerous! Regarding your post don't you mean some of you anal people need to light up.
  23. My brother is a big fish fan, and he of course hated Ricky after he abandoned the team in 04. Last year he really didn't want to like him, but by the end of the season he had won my brother's respect back. My brother is such a SUCKER!
  24. When I lived in south Florida I remember a news report that said Ricky is tested 2-5 times per month even in the off season. Apparently once you test positive all you're donating piss for the rest of your career. Not that I enjoy a team in our division going through off season pain, but if Brady were to announce he's leaving football for a career in ballet, this would be a great week.
  25. Is this some sort of secret code?
