Ralph v. Wade -- The $750,000 question
Former Buffalo Bills coach Wade Phillips and his former boss, owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr., appeared before a National Football League arbitrator for several hours Wednesday.
Phillips is contesting he should be paid the remainder of his contract with the team. Wilson, however, contends Phillips should not be compensated because the coach quit after last season and was not fired. Phillips was paid $200,000 of the $950,000 he was scheduled to make for this year when the Bills stopped payment.
Jay Moyer, an arbitrator for the NFL, heard testimony from both parties Wednesday but a decision is not expected for several weeks.
