Wow. Wouldn't make sense but that's exactly how Ralph likes it.

Yes, this team does have enough talent to have made the playoffs this year. Before the season, we as fans expected it and the players expected it. As much as they say the games are played on the field, coaching is our downfall yet again. Tenn, Indi, StL, all winnable games. Possibly steal another, i.e NE and we are in. Think back over the past 3 years and look at all the close losses. Most have a similar pattern of bad decisions and outcomes. Good coaching changes many of them to wins.
-
Exactly. I saw the same thing. He was a little slow and an inch short on their last touchdown or he would've knocked it down. He's been picked on a lot in the last couple games. All part to the learning curve for a rookie CB. Tough situation to be put in. Hopefully he won't lose confidence and only get better.
-
You've got more faith in the guy than i do. I'd expect that either of them would still be holding a clipboard. The fact is Chan doesn't think Fitz has played poorly and i don't think he'd bench him for a rookie.
-
Everyone outside of Chan sees how ludicrous his coaching decisions and statements to the media are. This obviously has to extend to the players. They're doing an admirable job of being PC with the media but it's gonna blow up eventually. I think even Fitz has been disappointed with Chan this year and that's his most vocal supporter. We can only hope that Buddy sees reality.

Agree on everything you're saying except i don't think he's lying to the fans. In his own mind, he truly believes what he's saying. We need a fundamental philosophical change in our head coaches. Why do we continue to hire these guys that play not to lose, who are constantly afraid of making a mistake. You haven't won in 13 years. Take a shot at the end zone. Go for it on 4th down. Kick a 50+ yard field goal. Play your most dynamic players. Draft and start a rookie quarterback. What do you have to lose??? It's so infuriating.
-
Yes, but that's back up in my opinion who is no better than Fitz. I'm talking about a possible franchise guy
-
We’ve learned a lot about the mindset of our head coach over the past 2.5 years and I started thinking what’s going to happen when we get the next rookie QB in here (hopefully next year). Does anyone here really think that he’s got a legit shot to start opening day, assuming he's worthy? I’m fairly certain there won’t be any open competition for the job in training camp and Fitz will still be the starter. Guarantee the guy won’t even see the field when Fitz is crapping the bed early in the season. Chan has that old school mentality which says that veterans will always get the benefit of the doubt and younger players need to wait their turn even if they’re more talented…see CJ situation. You see young QB’s starting in their first year quite a bit now and they learn on the job and are better for it by mid-season. I just don’t think Chan is open to that. Hypothetical: Bills drafted Russell Wilson in the third round last year instead of TJ Graham. Would Wilson be the starter today?

Chan NOT the man for the job going forward.

Ball-less, Indecisive. Doesn't use best players. Coaches not to lose. Get him outta here. Really nothing more to say. -
Chan Will NOT Change How He Calls Plays
Jukester replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Chan's a mediocre OC masquerading as a head coach. We've all seen how he overthinks the game plan and leans to the pass. Do we ever run on two consecutive plays? Empty backfields with short distances, especially third down. Yet we'll go pass happy all the time. CJ spiller having a great game against Miami but standing on the sidelines in the red zone with Choice in the game. Same thing yesterday in the 4th quarter. There was a shot of CJ on the sideline at one point kind of looking all around him..almost pleading someone to let him back in the game. Unreal how Chan just doesn't get it. He said this morning it's because they've allotted a number of plays for each back. Wow. Players are finally starting to go public on playcalling. From Stevie: "How I see it, I think we need to let our quarterback call these plays," said Johnson. "He’s out there on the field. He sees the adjustments that need to be done. I think we just need to let him make the adjustments on the go. I think that’s the way we can move the ball better. He did it a little bit in the game and we moved the ball. That’s how I feel about it. In the fourth quarter, we were pushing it. We were in a groove. He was hitting C.J. (Spiller), getting his run plays, doing the pass plays, and I just think we should just do it more often." Johnson continued when pressed by reporters: "The play calling is cool. In the situations, we are the ones out there on the field. He knows what to check into and check out of. It’s different when you are looking from the booth and say, ‘Okay, they might be in this’ than being out there. That’s just my take on it. I just think that he has the ability to control the offense 100 percent. I think we should take advantage of that." http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/11/26/3691056/colts-20-bills-13-postgame-comments-chan-gailey And as far as defense, he's come out and said publicly that he has almost zero input on that side of the ball, leaning fully on his friend Dave who "has more experience with defense than I'll ever have." This team is better than it's record. Coaching is attrocious. -
So can we talk about SJ attitude for a minute
Jukester replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ding Ding. I think this is the one that most people noticed. I'm pretty sure it was right after a play where it wasn't a perfect pass but a catchable one. He left the huddle early and clearly looked pissed. I totally agree that he was just showing his frustration at not catching the ball and not because he was upset at fitz or the team or being a diva, etc.... -
UPDATE: QB Vince Young Signs With Buffalo Bills
Jukester replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not with VY on the roster and a 3.75 million cap hit for Smith. If you see value in that and no one else on the team able to pick up 3rd and 2, so be it -

And I don't see smith's value if that's all he can do from the wildcat. -

And Young would be an instant upgrade for the wildcat. Think about a wildcat where there is an actual threat to throw the ball. -
UPDATE: QB Vince Young Signs With Buffalo Bills

If this happens, i'd think Thigpen and Brad Smith are both expendable. Fitz, Young, and a developmental for QB3. -
This could be one of the worst top ten lists ever assembled. No Buffalo, KC, or Pittsburgh. Two dome stadiums on the list. Horrible. Link

Yes it would. But you're getting too close to that dangerous realm of logic, reason, and common sense.
-
Really Rodgers?! I think he'd change his tune if defensive guys went all out and planted him in the turf a few times. Like others said above...it's an exhibition and not worth risking injury.

Thanks for that. So we have a college coach as DC and a failed DC on staff. You'd think Wannstache would've made a bigger impact. Typical stuff from our beloved organization. The Green Bay Packers' season came apart thanks in large part to a defense that consistently blew fourth-quarter leads. Defensive coordinator Bob Sanders and most of his staff were let go Monday as a result. Sanders, the Packers' defensive ends coach under Mike Sherman in 2005, was tabbed to lead the defense after former defensive coordinator Jim Bates left the team. Bates, a finalist for the head coaching job after Sherman was fired, did not stay after McCarthy was hired. The Packers' defense got off to a shaky start under Sanders in 2006, giving up too many big plays and occasionally showing signs of confusion on the field. The unit improved in 2007, tying for sixth-best in the league in scoring as the Packers went 13-3. But the defense regressed in 2008. The Packers' big-play problems returned as they struggled to shake off several significant injuries. Consistent pass-rush pressure was a season-long concern. After giving up 291 points in 2007, the Packers yielded a whopping 380 in 2008. The Packers allowed 135 points in the fourth quarter in 2008, second-worst in the league behind Houston. Before their season-ending victory over Detroit, the Packers had blown fourth-quarter leads in four straight games. Sanders took responsibility for the defense's shortcomings. "I take responsibility for everything," Sanders said on the Monday after the Packers' season finale. "It's my responsibility. Certainly, I try to get our guys in the best position I can to be successful, and when it doesn't happen, certainly I understand that. There were a lot of good plays. The scheme has brought a lot of good plays and a lot of good wins. Certainly I know what this scheme can do. At times, I didn't get the job done. I understand that." At the time, Sanders knew it could cost him his job. "If you're a coach, certainly that's part of the situation that you sign on to," Sanders said. "I just work to the best of my ability."

For me, the super bowl was the win over the Pats. It doesn't get any better than that game. Everything else has been gravy including the season opener in KC which I was at. I know that's sad and comes with low expectations but I've come to grips with the fact that this team will always be run a certain way (at least under current ownership)… spend frugally and turn a profit.. winning is secondary.

Looks like it's the showcase game this week on CBS (Nantz, Simms) and shockingly i'm going to get it here in STL instead of the Chiefs...YES!!! I'm gong to be so ready for Sunday. Week 9 Map

Why this years Bills team will win the Super Bowl
Jukester replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anything is possible in the world of sports today. Let's focus on getting into the playoffs and then who knows what could happen. I live in St. Louis and am still getting over how a Cardinals team that had no business being in the playoffs won the world series. Also just saw a down and out Rams team with a backup quarterback beat the mighty Saints who had put up 62 just a week before. -
Fox has the double header this week, meaning CBS will only carry one game per market.
-
Just as a head's up to everyone, make sure you double check your local channel on Sunday. This map is usually excellent but there are times when your local affiliate will make a last minute change. Last week, the map had the early Fox game as Saints-Panthers here in St. Louis so i assumed i wasn't getting the game. I was doing things with the kids and listening online. When i finally sat down in front of the tv for the second half of the early games, lo and behold the Bills game was on . The website also has an 'updates' section just below each map so check that as well. It didn't capture my change last week though.

Belichick: Obviously it was a disappointing loss for us today. It was a hard-fought game. Buffalo did a good job; it's always difficult coming in here. They made a few more plays than we did today. They did a good job. No doubt about it. They’ve been doing a good job. Chan [Gailey]‘s done a great job with the team and they’re playing well. Yeah, they mixed it up. They did it all game. Brady: We played a good football team. We made too many mistakes. It's tough to overcome as many mistakes as we did. (Buffalo) made a lot of plays and they've got a good team. They're a good coverage team. They made some good plays in the pass game. They took advantage of some opportunities that they got. We fought to the end but it just wasn't enough. (Buffalo) made some good plays on the ball. Some days the ball gets batted up in the air and it goes your way, and some days it doesn't. That's part of the game. George Wilson made a hell of a play on that one interception. It's the way the ball bounces. That's football. Welker: The Bills came out there and played hard, and they kept fighting and they were definitely a tougher team that us today. They did a great job of making plays out there, and their defense did a good job and you’ve got to give them all the credit in the world. They’re a tough football team. They played really well, they kept fighting, and you’ve got to give them all the credit. Gronkowski: They're a good defense. The Bills have good players, they play hard and they go 100% every play. They're a tough defense. They're a good team. Every time I play them they're always tough and they're always competitive. They've got good players. They're legit. And this thread:Congratulations To The Bills And Their Fans. Much classier fans that i thought (for the most part).
