If you want to save the fillibuster
pkwwjd replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
you made it political so I'll respond ... the Fillibuster was not generally intended or used to keep judicial nominees from reaching the floor of the Senate. That being said, this will not fix any problems either. The problems lie in the fact that the judicial branch of the government now carries out the duties of the legislative branch, by broadening the interpretation of laws and making those interpretations law in and of themselves. It will take long and radical change to have a judiciary that reins in its own control and limits itself to enforcing the laws that Congress passes. -
(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

A friend of mine works at Skywalker Ranch and he said that the opening space battle was the most complex piece of special effects ever. Also the largest space battle ever. I think it will take about 12 viewings of the movie to catch everything that happened in it -- even then, maybe a few more times will reveal more ... I saw it on a standard screen and it felt like an IMAX film. -

I truly think that it is about Anakin, ultimately. Remember, he was the one who would bring balance to the force & destroy the Sith. He does that in ROTJ -
(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

most of the violence is in typical offscreen SW style -- the worst on screen were amputations like Luke in Empire and the final scene with Anakin & Obi Wan that I cannot divulge more about without giving it away. I firmly believe it was PG-13 because of the feeling of intensity from start to finish with few breaks. I will probably take my 8 year old on Saturday and I'm generally very conservative on what he sees. -
(OT) Review: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
pkwwjd replied to ajzepp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
right, cuz Lucas planned a diatribe against GWB in the 1970s when he orignially conceptualized the story of Palpatine taking over the universe ... OK, sarcasm is now off. Anyone who has watched all the movies and read many of the between-movie books knows that SW is perhaps one of the most developed storylines of our time. -
If LB is the easiest to find good players, then why did only 5 teams merit an A or A-? Wow, some of you guys really see the glass not only half empty, but see a St. Bernard ready to slop the rest of the water out of that glass. Regarding Posey, my biggest memory of Posey's impact on a game came a couple years ago against Indy. We held the Colts in check for almost the entire game ... until Mr. Posey goes out with an injury. Then Indy comes back and wins it in the last few minutes. I can't say that Posey is responsible for keeping Manning & Co. in check, but the correlation may point in the direction of his play definitely helping. I definitely think his play is at least above average. He just doesn't get the sexy stats because he's playing the 4-3 instead of the 3-4 he got the sacks with in Houston.

No big surprise, but nice to know. No link -- I got my issue in the mail today. JFYI

Yes, JEJ does the voice of Darth after Anakin's .... um, ... transformation

Well, it transferred well to the book first The book was simply great. Not the best novelization I've read, but I could feel my heart beating faster during the first 100 pages of the thing (that's the opening 25 minutes of the movie). It should be the most intense opening of a movie that I have ever seen -- maybe among the most intense of all time. I'll be there at midnight!

Actually, DI makes a difference in club programs too. Check this page on college club lax programs --NCLL They don't even list DIII schools. Again, I contend a small, private school in Western PA beating a major university's club team located in one of the 2 or 3 major areas for lacrosse is pretty impressive.
-
Yes, I found Maryland has a Club team, and it was their club team that Grove City beat -- still ... not bad for a DIII to beat a DI team anyway.
-
I didn't know that Maryland had a separate club team -- besides intramural games. My understanding was that it was their school team. Could be wrong though.
-
hehee, Maryland. My alma mater (Grove City College, DIII club program) went into Maryland a couple of years ago and beat them in their own invitational tourney. I was part of the original GCC LAX team back in the early 90s, but we always lost 24-2 ... It was good to hear they beat a real DI team.

I think that Parcells proves everyday on the job that much of the credit for his "great" coaching goes to the staff that he had assembled in previous stints.

or phonetic spelling

I like the new home unis. The blue on blue I associate with a 31-0 beating of the Patsies. 'Nough said?

Are you kidding? His coach trusted him 11 more times that our coach trusted Lindell. That says a lot!!!! He may not be more accurate, but he's got a stronger leg: 40-49 Ed is 40/57 (70%) 40-49 RL is 21/37 (57%) 50+ Ed is 13/19 (68%) 50+ RL is 7/14 (50%) I would take Ed in a heartbeat. I might even tell TD that I'd pick up the cost of cutting RL
-
we all know that after we cut RL, he'll sign with the sorriest team in the league -- DullFelons or the 40Whiners -- and go on to kick FGs at an amazing pace, kicking upwards of 40 each year and end up in the HOF ... Oh wait, ... that's Gary Anderson's life story not RL. My bad.
-
I'd take Ed too, he's got a leg -- a def improvement over lindell

I got my last job because I told my interviewer that whiffle bats don't leave marks ... and I'm a Youth Pastor

Kate got the plane from the safe deposit bank that she knocked off. Bringing up Claire's psychic makes me wonder about if there is a connection with Walt's psychic powers ... ?
-
Kate gets the airplane out of the safe deposit box when she helps to rob the bank. Actually, it seems now that she was in full control of that operation -- and the target was getting the toy plane in her hands, she just used everyone else. Does anyone have that episode TIVO'd? Would be an interesting re-watch right now. Did she kill that bank guy or just knock him out? Need. .... to ... watch .. that episode ... again.

First Review -- "Revenge of the Sith"
pkwwjd replied to buckeyemike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the topic of disappearing when they die ... SPOILER (I think) QuiGon Ginn was purported to be experimenting with the Force in such a way as to live on beyond death in a way to help those who are strong in the Force ... he never fully figured it out before he died in Ep I. One of Obi Wan's missions on Tatooine (while watching over Luke) is to further try to learn the art of living on. He evidently figures it out and live on in ghostly form as does Yoda. Anakin also does at the end of ROTJ, which would seem to indicate that Luke only burns the suit of Darth Vader, not the body as it would seem that he probably disappeared. -

no, no, no ... that only works when it's a photo of Travis Heny, then Travis takes the lucky high schooler to the prom. -
First Review -- "Revenge of the Sith"

... Just a little, oh yeah, considering he bankrolled the three prequels himself IIRC. SW is all Lucas -- his idea, his product, his money. Whether you like SW or not, he has worked his tail off on it during production. He deserves the credit.
