Why is every team in the NFL except the Bills good at screens?

This friggin Dolphins team is the luckiest team I've EVER seen.

These are all the same plays the Dolphins have been running all year that have been wide open, they're just being defended. The Dolphins will need a lot of ticky-tack PIs like that one.

I think so. I've been calling him One Read Tua for a while, because if you watch him, he doesn't really do NFL read progressions hardly ever. It's, hit the back foot and the ball is going where the play is designed to go whether it's covered or not. That whole "quickest from snap to throw" stat camouflages this. The Dolphins count on hitting their very quick, very fast receivers very fast and very quick over the middle where the defense has very large and very slow players typically, so they'll have room to run. Whatever the Chargers have done these first couple drives apparently is a good counter to that with DB's in those short middle zones. It wouldn't work if the QB came off that first read or could threaten them over the top.

I hate to belabor the point but Tua doesn't make a decision where to throw, he throws where the play is designed, and the Dolphins rely on scheming it open and it's worked for a while, it's been effective, but now teams have tape on it. I've been waiting for this, it was bound to happen at some point. I hope the Bills coaches are going to study this game film, Leslie.

It does look like the Chargers have done their research on the Miami route combos and have guys in place to cover the first reads. Like that rubber armed muffin right there.

The ball is coming out quicker because Tua will force it to the first read most every time. Very rarely does he ever go through an NFL progression in this offense.

If only the Bills had a big receiver with great hands to high point the 50/50 balls.

Not if the first read is covered, because that's where the ball is going whether it's covered or not.

These line judges are driving me crazy, they're always spotting the Jet a half yard or so further than where the ball was with knee down, and doing the opposite to the Bills. It adds up.

Someone better have an angle with something better than that, I didn't see it hit ground.
