the game I think is that the cap will go up every year... almost like borrowing money with low interest and pushing it out hoping you make more money with the money that is paid out over time... in the end there will be big dead cap money owed when those players leave etc...

Time for the bet taking on where he ends up for the next several months LOL... just when we thought this drama was over...

Steelers approach Jags about a Trevor Lawrence Trade
JP51 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thats my inclination too... but there is a new regime over there and I think it depends on how they see Lawrence... from the Steelers standpoint kicking those tires on a QB that has a lot of potential but has been less than successful recently and a new regime coming in... thats where I am starting If I were them... but in the end no I dont see that happening... especially in a year with no top level QBs "really" in theory... interesting tid bit though... -
The Stadium Wall is a great place to come talk about the Bills
JP51 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Couldnt agree more... I am happy to offer up opinion and experience... I am equally as happy to learn from others viewpoints.. I really havent found myself in a situation that was not a solid discussion or variance of opinion... except maybe once since I have been here... I have come to appreciate the cumulative knowledge of the board... probably like most of you when with friends I am the most vocal in the room and rarely challenged in my opinion... then you come here and see some really smart people either validate, shed new light, or completely see things differently... I for one like it all.. and appreciate all of you... great post as always @Shaw66 -
Great observation about Miller.... he often did not contain and took himself out of the play... waaaaay wide... I wondered if he wouldnt have been more effective Blitzing with out contain responsibility. I think the point is moot, he is gone next year I would guess...
-
Yeah, I dont know... I half wonder if they are just running McD's Defense for him... it looks very similar and hasnt been effective in years... is it the players? The stale D, the coaching... maybe a combination of all 3... I like the fact we brought in another Defensive mind... if he is looking to put together a change with how we approach Defense...
-
I agree... we need to be better... but we need to be the Bills and not Eagles... fast following in the NFL is like chasing your tail.... moreover, I think their defensive coaches had a great game plan... now... if you want to be like the Eagles and hire great defensive coaches that know how to actually game plan and not just make adjustments at half time... I am all for it... but we need to improve our players on Defense not just copy the Philly model...

Love this kid.. he is a little bit of Dobler and Mitch Frerotte... like a rabbid racoon... not sure he is an all pro lineman... but he sure brings the nasty every play...

Travis Kelce uncertain of future. Mulling retirement
JP51 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think after a disappointment emotionally like that you go to a bad place sometimes... give it a month or two... and training camp rolls around.. and its time to play I think he is totally back... sorry not buying it... UNLESS Tay Tay wants him to retire ... then well... I could see that... -
I think that is exactly where it ends up... or he can go to a team with a bad OL and get wrecked... Love what he can do... but look at his brother... small running backs have a short shelf life of effectiveness... I totally get why he wants to get paid... he is not gonna have a Derek Henry length career... so fill your plate when the buffet is full I get it... but I cant see a 4 year 60mm deal for him here...
-
Love these things... I am so not a draftnik, but I seem to get up to somewhat speed by reading multiple analysis. I appreciate you thanks!

My issue with Rapp is he is as destructive to himself and his team mates as he is to the other team... he is like an unguided missile LOL...

Bills scored more points than any other team this season..
JP51 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could you imagine what it would be like for the offense with 2 or 3 more possessions a game because the defense actually got off the field... and the field position we could have if they could force a 3 and out a couple times... -
Well, maybe we don't disagree at least on everything... I do not think the pressure is going to come from Pegula.. I think if there is pressure, it will be internal from the players if they dont see getting to the next level...
-
Well this being said... I think he may be a little more on the hot seat than we think... and I think it may stem from the players mostly... you need faith your leader is going to get it done... JA recruiting Garrett says a lot to me... I think he gets this year... if he doesnt at least make it to the dance, I think the seat gets really hot.. at minimum new DC... maximum out the door... so he best get it right... he needs to cross the line and kick in the door soon...
-
See I honestly see them as tied... BUT! to your point I would be less concerned if it was Beane hiring the head coach and not Pegula hiring the GM to hire the head coach... that said.. doesnt a lot of this rest on Beane? I think he needs to evolve as well...
-
I dont disagree with you... not a Levy fan... and we needed to start looking for his successor at 32 not 36... that was a huge reason for the downfall... but in the end... when we parted with Polian it all slowly collapsed... so from that perspective complete collapse is an option (save the fact Josh is here) as well as hey, new eyes... and ideas are going to get us over the hump.... both are possibilities... my perspective is... Do I want to trust the existing pair progress... or do I want to trust Terry to pick the staff that will improve on what we have.... I simply dont trust Terry to do that... so... I choose option 1.... with full knowledge that you very well may be correct...
-
That is one way to approach it LOL...
-
You could be 100% right... i have no clue what they are gonna look for we have seen speculation... but to your point they havent even agreed to trade him... now, I dont see this getting settled with Cleveland... and I do see him moving on, its hard to go back from a direct request to be traded and an open letter to the fans... thats pretty bridge burny to me... but stranger things have happened... either way it will be interesting fodder until it plays out..
-
If true, this is hysterical LOL.. Stefanski thinking we are trying to punk him and not help LOL
-
that it is! LOL

I agree... we still need a large 1T and I think Jones is pretty washed... also, if you trade for Garrett, you may be looking at parting with a DL like Rousseau or Oliver in the package... we have a lot of needs to improve the D. I posted on another thread... I get the need to get over the hump... but I look at it like this... you can also roll down the hill into the abyss too... (See Polian firing)... you then rely on Pegula to make the next Brilliant hire that improves upon these two... (I think they are a package) my money is on letting them evolve and not letting Terry go find an upgrade.... bottom line though, we need to get better in the FO, drafting and coaching... not sure Pegula hiring a new GM to pick a new coach gets us there...
-
As someone who lived thru the 90s... with Polian, Butler, Levy and Marchibroda... etc... I am hesitant to say move on or gut it... only because I see what can happen if you get it wrong... Butler manned the ship fairly well for a bit until he moved on... and then we went into the abyss.. I am not saying I am satisfied being the bridesmaid, what I am saying is does changing the entire make up of the coaching and FO make you better... I think there is always that possibility... for sure... sometimes it works.. But see... there is this thing... Pegula... he has shown time and again with both of his teams... he isnt likely to get it right... so do I want to blow it up and trust him to pick the right folks... Not so sure I want to sign up for that... I think ultimately I would pin my hope on Beane and McD seeing the light and evolving over Pegula making the right hire...
-
I am not sure why I dont think this is exciting... maybe I wonder if its a locker room thing... like are we getting another Diva like Diggs here... or honestly I may just be mis remembering this guys persona... that said... you cant teach that kind of speed... if the dude has a fairly decent route tree and can stretch the field.. that is kina what you are looking for... like is he a true #1
-
I am going to probably get killed for this... but wondering what folks think... Tre White... depth corner... 30 years old.. signed to a team friendly 1 yr deal... maybe with an option... 1.5mm take the chance that he has recovered after a full year... and bring him in on the cheap as a depth piece... I would say maybe work him into a safety position but he is too small and not a great tackler... so he would need to be a nickle/Dime guy, or a depth CB... thoughts...
