Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?
MikePJ76 replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Im not a fan of cooper's honestly but to be fair he just slipped. If he hadn't he might still be running like forrest gump. instead we all ended up shrimp boat captains. -
Let's be honest, Josh probably has 5 good seasons left

trading all your picks away is the fastest way to become a bad organization -
Yea thats the rub. If he is going to change who he is and become a finger pointer, he can leave today. The Bills should never again with this staff allow a player like that on the team. We never need to see a tweet that says "You Sure" again.

Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?

https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/top-100-2025-nfl-free-agents-tee-higgins-sam-darnold-lead-way in this list the two guys I would like to see the bills sign are ranked at 77 and not on the list... so if this ranking is even fairly accurate the two players I like should not be huge cap problems. There are a number of safeties on the list. -
see that is the thing though. Not many have the traits and explosiveness he does. I am not sure where the bills would get a back that has them either considering where they pick and the fact that the roster probably will not allow a top 100 pick to be used for that position. Its a really tricky situation. The Bills line and TE/WR blocking is very good in the running game but Cooks ability to score from anywhere is different than most backs.
-
He is not an every down back but he has a quality that is hard to replicate. He is a home run hitter and makes big plays. He is very quick and explosive and this year his decision making and willingness to run inside put him over the top. Without a back that can do the same to replace him the offense would be very different. He turned a number of 8 to 10 yard runs into 20+ runs and at important times. If they pay him and I hope they find a way it will be for that trait. Comparing him to the traditional everydown back at 225+ who wears people down is the wrong way to view his value and worth to the team. I think his age and limited number of carries eases the concern about the fall off of old backs and his speed and explosiveness is a unique trait. The Bills have very few players who can get to the edge anywhere on the field and go to the house.

I wonder if John harbaugh got to watch the video of any of this like he did the Ray rice video. The video he was A-OK with.

Low hanging fruit or the shiny object if you will. You just need good ones that play well in your system and stay healthy.
-
They need a center fielder. They have two guys that are or appear to be better players going forward. rapp has proven he can not stay healthy and should not be relied on as a starter going forward imo. His best role is the one he had in 23. The third guy, the sub package guy. i hoping they sign a veteran in free agency. Love the idea of 24 year old SU grad Andre Cisco to come in and play center field here. the defense is going to change over the next four months personnel wise pretty considerably. we could see 1 or 2 new safeties 1 or 2 new corners possibly 6 new defensive lineman probably 3 new dt’s or so. They need a reliable vet at centerfield so the front 7 can be aggressive and play downhill.

The old saying, the second round is for criminals and medical issue guys

Just think one of those 4 is a parole officer. gives them a leg up on finding the criminals they love to draft.

Free Agents we like for the 2025 Bills?

For me personally. safety Andre Cisco. Makes plays on the ball, went to SU and is from Long Island. He is only 24 years old. His former DC in Jax is now on the bulls staff. He becomes the deep/free safety allowing bishop to play near the line and rapp to go back to being the third guy in sub packages. the problem here is spotrac is speculating Cisco is going to get 4 for 60. I am not sure the bills are willing to do that at safety. I am of the opinion the defense is about to get the same treatment the offense got after the loss to the bengals, be coaches added to the staff and a rebuild on the line of scrimmage. I think this might make them more willing to spend money at safety because it frees them up on draft day. my other player is Darius slayton. He brings the element the bills lack outside and is very explosive. He has the personality to fit in to the locker room. He has good size to go along with his speed. Not much smaller than Higgins. signing those two players along with hollins and Gilliam keeps the offense as is and improves it imo. I don’t think they pay Ty Johnson. these two signings free them up to attack the defensive line and corner. Plus if a wr slips to them that they love they can always draft him and make hollins a special teams guy. -
After his surgery he was activated and then was allowed to work back in. off the top of my head he played against the lions, rams, pats, jets to finish the year. He was not a healthy scratch in the playoffs because as I stated many times in this thread he was a rookie 3 tech who had wrist surgery. He returned and seemingly gave it his best shot and he just wasn’t right. They had enough depth there to not force him on the field. next year I am going to remember all the people in this thread twisting his season to fit some narrative. players take time to develop. I mean as a fan of the bills alone, Bernard, brown, cook, shakir etc took some time to become the players they are. Bailing on Carter after his rookie season in which he had to have a wrist surgery is bizarre to me. i feel the exact way about Coleman. They are both going to be important parts of this team going forward. Which guys went last year in the fourth round and on who were/are better players than 21 year old Keon Coleman? just looking for a name to go with this repeated cliche.
-
if it's not the point why did he say it. If his stance is that coleman or players like him can be had in the 4th or later, then he should have named the player that went in the 4th this past year that was better on draft day and has a better future going forward. Seems he is just throwing out cliche's. also, Your comment on culture is nonsense. One of the best things about this team this year and going forward is the culture because they took good players who are good guys and are all about the team.r Dewayne Carter for instance played the 3 and 5 techs in college in a 4-2-5 nickel scheme similar to buffalo's. He played inside and outside. He is an all american 3 time captain. He is going to be a major asset to this team going forward. Is he ever going to be Warren Sapp at the 3 tech, nope. Most guys in the third round are not. and again, Jim Mono's and guys like him obsess over things like coleman because he is not a flashy all pro in year 1 while ignoring draft picks like Ray Davis and Tylan Grable. That grable pick in the 6th round at 204 may turn out to be huge in a few years.
-
he played in a number of games after the injury, a major one that required surgery. Since he was not 100%, once smoot was back coupled with phillips, jefferson and johnson he was not forced to play. If you think he is going to be a healthy scratch next year and is not a good player, then that is noted and I will check back in with you next year.
-
again, you can't get the details right so spare me your opinion on the player. Having a wrist surgery in your rookie season is a tough thing to overcome when you are a 3 tech in the nfl. They had vets who could fill the role for them which was a good thing and he was not forced into playing when not 100%. Jordan phillips played that role pretty well.
-
He was not a healthy scratch for any part of the regular season. He was a healthy scratch in the playoffs because they went with the veterans at the position and carter looked a little different after that wrist injury. He had wrist surgery during his rookie season. He returned and was not the same so the staff chose to make him inactive in the playoffs. HIm returning and playing through the injury and after the surgery tells me all I need to know about who carter is. He is going to be an asset to this team going forward.
-
so that's a yes then, you think Coleman would have gone in the fourth round if the bills didn't take him. and to that last comment, Troy Franklin who this board and many fans on social media loved and many wanted the bills to take in the 2nd round and then each round on ran a 4.4 and was picked in the fourth round.
-
The offensive line is huge. They are like 8 deep on the offensive line and they get no credit for rebuilding their offense over the course of two seasons. There is hyper focus on the weak spots. And those spots are this years area to address. Would love to see Jim Monos cut like 7 veterans and fill out a roster as good as the bills had with the cap space they are working with and then get the results they got this year.
