I feel a lot better about the team this morning. Losing Henrik Tallinder makes me feel physically ill, but he's still just one player and the entire team was AWESOME last night. So there are potentially four more games this series and two of those are in Buffalo. I have to think we'll win at least one of those, and that means we only have to either (a) win the other Buffalo game or (b) steal another one in Carolina. At some point I still feel like Miller could steal a game for us. And if we find a way to get over on Carolina just two more times in four games, then we make the SC Finals and who knows? Kalinin might even be back if we get that far (according to NBC, game 3 of the SC Finals is June 10th, more than two weeks away). Four more chances. Two more Buffalo games. Need two more wins. We can do this. And losing Tallinder should have the Sabres focused like a laser come gametime Friday. All of our losses in the playoffs this year have been when the team starts taking things for granted after the wins seem to be coming too easily (up 2-0 on Philly, up 3-0 on Ottawa, up 1-0 on Carolina after finishing the Sens in 5). When the Sabres are focused, they look like they did last night.

Worst case scenario is the Canes win the next two. If that's the case, Connolly could come back for game 6 and that would be huge.
-
I'm kinda leaning towards Paetsch. He's smaller than Vanek but he's a better skater. Sounds like Tallinder is gone for the long term. If that's the case, game 4 is a must win situation. If the Sabres know that, they'll be ready and we'll have a shot at this thing. Win game 4 and we can still steal the series without Kalinin or Tallinder.

Help us, Teppo Numinnen, you're our only hope. BTW, does anyone know of any situation where you'd have your arm in a sling one night and be OK two nights later? How about a week later? I thought Jillson played well tonight. Maybe we go with Paetsch on Friday (if no Teppo)?

*sigh* Well, at least he wasn't limping......

Watched the whole game in a bar with no sound (that was dedicated to the Suns-Mavs game). When did he leave the game? I noticed Jillson on the ice quite a bit in the 3rd. We can't afford to lose him!

'Lost' TV star Michelle Rodriguez is going back...
SilverNRed replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I also added "Again and again" so that's some extra praise, I guess. It's not like I'd hit it under an assumed name and then deny it ever happened if anyone ever brought it up again. She's good looking but she's not incredible or anything. I mean, I wouldn't have her as the background and screensaver on my PC. Or have pictures of her all over my apartment. Or create a mannequin that looks just like her. Or draw up plans to murder her fiance and kidnap her. Or make her my avatar. All of which, to me, are signs of true love. -
Yes, if you want it to look terrible.

To be fair, I didn't say she'd let me hit it. -

The board might never recover from that one. We should probably just stick to making fun of each other. RE: Michelle Rodreiguez....I'd hit it. Again and again. -
It sounds like he's doing a half-assed job just so he can re-release the original versions once DVD switches to Blu-Ray or HD-DVD in the next 10 years or so. Making these movies anamorphic is not expensive or difficult. Not doing it is unreal.

Laviolette: "Sabres a bunch of divers"
SilverNRed replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was still 3-1 when that happened. And when Derek Roy almost made a great play to bring the Sabres within one. I do think the Canes slowed down after Miller let in that fourth goal, and after that is when the Sabres started scoring. Goal #3 happened with 2 seconds left in the game and the Canes up by 2 goals, so I don't think they cared too much at that point either. I also think the Sabres were starting to turn it on early in the third period before Carolina got their 3 goal lead and that that was more encouraging than our two late goals (i.e. the Sabres could still outplay the Canes when the game was in reach and both teams were still trying their best). Whatever, though, not good enough. Can't wait until the third period to start playing good hockey and expect to win. -

I don't think the team "quit" tonight - they never even started.... I believe in this team and that means I believe they're mentally tough enough to correct themselves for the rest of the series. -
I love that this year's Sabres team believes it is going to win every game. Unfortunately, that sometimes seems like they think they're going to win every game even without showing up. That's what happened tonight, IMO. No desperation whatsoever, not until the last couple minutes. Sabres looked like a team satisfied to go back to Buffalo tied 1-1. Hopefully Ruff fires them up again because tonight was ugly.

The New School and John McCain...
SilverNRed replied to buckeyemike's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't think they're punk or emo, not anymore anyway. Their first album was pop punk but it was probably the best pop punk I've ever heard so after doing everything they could with that genre, they left it behind. The second album, Deja Entendu, I can't even put in a category. And the leaked demoes and live songs from their next album indicate they're still getting better. Emo may be the worst genre in music. The success rate in that genre is comparable to rap - very few bands/people stick out. -

So you're saying my Flair Gun won't actually help me if I get stranded somewhere? Mainly what it will do is help me accessorize? -

Do you know anything about Brand New? It'd be cool if you did. They're still a fairly obscure band so it's not often you meet people who know they exist. It's more likely you just know them from my signatures and assume they aren't all that great because the band members are in their 20's. I would consider their last album meaningful, dude. And, yeah, I know folk songs can be songs passed down from generation to generation but that doesn't mean I want to listen to that all the time any more than I want to listen to the hippie drivel version (which apparently was my "implied interpretation" although I had no idea). -

No email address to correct him either. Yeah, it takes a real man to talk smack when no one can respond. -

I won't even pretend to like anything about folk music. It's lame. As for American Idol, I actually like the concept. We should be allowed to vote and select our celebrities. Celebrities have a way of showing up and then taking over our TV set for years at a time. If I have to spend years hearing about someone, I want a say in who that is. If we voted for all our celebrities, we wouldn't have to see Paris Hilton's ugly face on TV 24 hours a day. And what a world that would be. Don't know. But it's about respect for people. Not silencing them before you even hear what they say. He's a politician. He's going to say a bunch of empty crap. Just put up with it. It's not a green light to act like a child. Why would anyone assume the commencement speaker speaks for them. He speaks to them. I had no idea that the person talking to you automatically is speaking for you. Does this mean I am speaking for you right now and you were speaking for me in the previous post? The ones acting like little kids were. Same goes for the faculty. Grow up. Bad behavior is bad behavior. -

Never seen that website but it rings true. I can't think of one instance where a folk song is a good thing. A folk song? Really? What year is it? And if there's nothing to be afraid of, why are the new school students so afraid of John McCain that they don't even want to hear him speak? -

ANOTHER REASON WHY THE NBA IS A JOKE
SilverNRed replied to Talonz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn't help that there's really no reason to watch the regular season either. More than any other sport, basketball is a game where the better team wins almost all the time. Watch a baseball, football, or hockey game and you can be treated to an upset.
