RIP, Paul. Thanks for the advice/help over the past couple years. (Glad I didn't see this until now as it has wrecked my day and probably week.)

Changed the thread title to reflect that Lucas is doing a half-assed job releasing the new DVDs. My initial excitement over these DVDs was uncalled for. This is a quick cash grab; the illegal bootleg fan DVDs on eBay will still have higher quality.

If the Sabres make the Finals, then the league has to do something about Roli's mask. If the Canes make the Finals, I say Roloson's mask is perfectly legal and working wonderfully.

I'm proud that they gave such a strong effort/performance tonight. This isn't even close to over.

Can the Sabres force game 7?

That's the spirit! We took it to them tonight. We'll get it done on Tuesday. -
Game 5: Sabres @ Hurricanes, 7:30 EST
SilverNRed replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Sabres did two things right tonight: 1. Prove that Gerber is NOT in their heads and they can score on both Carolina goalies. 2. Prove that they can still play with, and even outplay at times, Carolina when missing their three defensemen and Connolly. Damn. We totally dominated from the third period onward and should have had this one. Time to win game 6 and roll the dice in game 7. -

Game 5: Sabres @ Hurricanes, 7:30 EST

.....*sigh*.....Buffalo fans..... Anyways, Mair is in tonight. Did anyone hear who's place he took? I just put Rick and Jim on. -
You think that's weird? After game 3, I had a dream where Henrik Tallinder and I were roommates and I asked him how his arm was and he said it was fine, but that I wasn't supposed to tell anyone. So I spent the whole next day waiting for good news until I found out it was indeed a broken arm. Which just goes to show you why you shouldn't trust the giant Swedes in your dreams.

I didn't withhold that three top defensemen were out, I just said I didn't care. I don't think Teppo will be back this series in a way that he can log lots of ice time so the team we had last night is probably the team we use for the next 3 games. The Buffalo mentality is "Don't expect anything good to happen because you'll just feel stupid when it doesn't." I say !@#$ that. Just enjoy the games and believe in your team. They didn't get this far by accident. Last week I said Sabres in six and technically they're still on track for that. It just means someone on the team is going to have to step up and be a hero right about now. That definitely didn't happen last night. (I do deserve an ass-kicking for being so completely wrong yesterday afternoon.)

Britney Spears was there??

"Ha! You been 'Juiced', Buffalo! I cursed yo ass!" Actually, I think the curse stems from every politician New York State has had for the past 100 years or so. They may be an exception in there but let's just round up and say ALL of them.

The forecheck sucked but it didn't seem like the D was pinching enough (or very well) and that hurt. If they were holding back because they were worried about playing strong D in Tallinder's absence, that was a big mistake.

Bill Basher Adam Schien at it again...

Who's Adam Schien? -
Well, if Teppo can't do everything he needs to do (and supposedly he's having trouble *turning* on the ice....), then he won't do any good as Diet Teppo. I thought Janik played well and Jillson looked lousy on the first and third goals. And I actually thought it might be a good idea (though it didn't turn out that way) to put Janik and Jillson together since they may have played together in Rochester. I didn't think defense was the problem. No one stepped up to win the battles on offense and the shots we did have (the ones that hit the net) were shot right into Gerber's chest starting late in the first period. It's like the team got super deflated once they were down 2-0. I didn't even feel too bad at that point since there was so much time left, but things deteriorated.

As everyone knows, the only true way to support your team is to give up on them constantly.
-
So even though the team played amazing two nights ago, suddenly they are completely helpless because tonight we put Janik in instead of Tallinder? bull sh--. The team didn't have it tonight but they are not out of this by any means. It must be wonderful to play for fans with such positive attitudes. "LET'S GO BUFFALO!!! LET'S GO BUFF---AAHHHHH!!! IT'S HOPELESS!!!! DOOOOMMED!"
-
He just wasn't that great tonight. Then again, I didn't think anyone stepped up their game.

Imagine this: I travel back in time to last September and tell all you wonderful Buffalonians that come late May, the Sabres will be tied 2-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Even if I added in the info about the team's current health problems, you'd have to love that. Hell, imagine I go back in time a few years when the team was bankrupt and possibly on its way out of town and tell you the same thing. This season has been a gift to WNY after years of horrible play by the Sabres and Bills. Makes us remember why we love sports so much in this region. We're still in this; let's enjoy it. Yeah, we got our butts kicked tonight but that's because NONE of our best players stepped up their games. We can still make this happen.

What the hell is wrong with you people? The Sabres have only lost in the playoffs this year when they don't have their heads in the game (after the 2-0 lead against Philly, after the 3-0 lead against Ottawa, and after the 1-0 lead against Carolina). That won't be problem tonight. With Tallinder out, this team will be playing desperate. The Sabres playing desperate hockey in Buffalo is a wonderful combination. Losing Tallinder is big, but we still have everyone else from game 3.....where we dominated. Janik and Jillson have been in the organization for years and both are probably good enough to play regularly for most teams in the NHL. These guys, especially Janik, have significant experience playing with a lot of the forwards on this team in the minors. These aren't strangers. Each also has the benefit of not having been beat up by over a month of playoff hockey. Plus Lindy has the line change tonight - he can find a way to make this work. And did you ever feel as good in the playoffs with Hasek as you do with Miller right now? I didn't. Hasek's Stanley Cup was the Olympic gold medal. And Miller isn't nearly the headcase that Hasek was - he's half his age and twice as mature. Yeah, I damn near crapped my pants when I found out about Tallinder too, but injuries haven't slowed this team down this season. And just because Tallinder is out, I don't think the rest of the team is going to quit now when they're six wins away from the Cup. And that's good enough for me. Sabres will find a way. I believe.

Oh, you guys didn't hear? It's MILLER TIME! Or at least it will be come 7:30 EST this evening.

Ned Barnett, D.B. (The D.B. stands for douche bag) His column on Wednesday said: -People from Buffalo aren't smart -People from Buffalo think they're hockey experts -There's no such thing as a hockey expert because hockey is simple -All you have to do in hockey is score more goals -No one cares about hockey anyway -The players have funny names And this was a column about the local team in the hockey playoffs in a major newspaper.
