James Cook should be on the field every single play that he doesn’t need an oxygen mask.

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
Einstein replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unfortunately it’s true. -
You know how I know that you have spent exactly zero time around NFL coaches Because you think like this. Most NFL coaches are just normal guys who happened to stumble upon the right circumstances that brought them into the league. They’re not extra brilliant. They were simply in the right place at the right time with the right work ethic. Football is also not an overly complex sport.

“Joe and I have already talked about that to some extent today. It’s important to keep in mind going forward,” McDermott said, via Justin Siejak of News4Buffalo. Cook was not on the field for any of the team’s third-down snaps, including a third-and-one the Bills failed to convert when an end around to wide receiver Elijah Moore fizzled out. McDermott said he’s confident in Brady’s work calling plays, but that “whatever play we call we call, we have to execute it at a higher level.” https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/sean-mcdermott-spoke-to-oc-joe-brady-about-james-cooks-usage-monday-night This. Ty was way too far downfield for a 4th and 2 play.

Are those his Pitt stats? Wouldn’t surprise me. He has been dealing with awful quarterback play his entire career until Dallas. Last year he played with Fields and Wilson. If you would take one moment to watch him actually play, like @Sojourner said, you would see he makes ridiculous catches look they’re nothing. He has HOF talent. -

I don’t know much about how he is doing in Dallas, because I don’t want the Cowboys much. But I loved him in Pittsburgh. The guys raw talent just jumps off the screen. -
Come on Happy, you’re better than this. You know darn well that a QB’s progressions are set before the play even happens. You also know darn well that he never got anywhere near to the point of his progression where he would’ve seen that receiving option - especially with a jailbreak. maybe your point is that he should’ve changed his progression at the line for some reason?

If we trade for a WR its going to be some has-been that will contribute little. Its Beane’s MO. Metcalf and Pickens being available this past offseason and Beane sitting on his hands is so frustrating. That talent is not available often. He could have had BOTH for only a 2nd and 3rd round pick. Allen would have feasted. -
Not shocking at all imo. Brady ran the same 4th down mesh beater over and over and over last season. He also ran the same QB sneak numerous times when it wasn’t working. He just… is not good. He’s like the anti- Ben Johnson. Where Ben has endless variety to his plays, Brady has none.

Its kinda funny that fans are so used to Allen being an absolute freak of nature that they expect him to flip his hips in a fraction of second while 2 defenders are feet from him and throw an on target pass to a moving Ty Johnson who went too far downfield. If Allen turns to stops to flip his hips here, he is 100% getting hit and there is a good chance the ball comes out with a fumble. Some of you expect the most ridiculous stuff.
-
This never happened. Allen was flushed from the pocket by a free blitzer who NO ONE TOUCHED. As you can see in the image below, Ty Johnson was not even looking when Allen was originally running for his life (not to mention the defensive back next to Ty). Allen extended the play out of necessity, and he had no time to stop, reset his hips and conduct a normal over the shoulder throw. By the time Ty was in any position to catch a pass, Allen’s *only* option was the shuffle pass. And if Cook was on the field, I have no doubt that’s a first down, because 1) Ty went too far imo and 2) Ty didn’t come back for the ball at all. Cook catches that.

This is only possible if receivers get open. Ours don’t.
-
Well yeah, after he brought in a top 5 overall WR and a top 5 slot receiver, and a speedy veteran, along with drafted Gabe Davis … he didn’t really need to do anything else in Daboll’s last year at WR. The WR room looked good. Thats completely different than how it looks now. There is really no comparison.
-
Before Brady arrived, Beane went out and got Diggs, Beasley, Sanders, etc. They were active in recruiting WR’s. After Brady, Beane is comfortable running with Coleman and Palmer. There is no doubt in my mind that they are running with Brady’s “everybody eats” mentality.

We will never win a Super Bowl with Joe Brady

This has been happening since last year. Fourth down in the AFC championship game, the biggest player of the entire year, Cook is watching from the sidelines. When McDermott was asked after the game why Cook was not in the game at certain points, McDermot responded “good point”, seemingly throwing Joe Brady under the bus. -
He shares blame for the WR’s imo. He brought the “everybody eats” mentality that Beane ran with.
-
He is 100% throwing Brady under the bus there.

Yeah I can’t believe he punted there either.

Well to be fair no one said that. In fact the very first sentence of the very first post states that Brady is not the only problem. But he is *a* problem. -
McD was holding a play call sheet in the 2nd half. I mentioned it in the GDT.
