Annual Way Too Early Mock Draft '22 edition
ArdmoreRyno replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
Just now seeing this. Would be amazing to see two more OSU Cowboys in Buffalo... but I know this was really early. LD Brown was hurt in week 3 and never returned. Now another back, Jaylen Warren could be draftable in a late round. He's a former Utah State RB who tore up Big XII defenses this season. Had over 1,100 yards and didn't play in 3 games. He didn't play in the Big XII title game. If he did, we would have beat Baylor. ZERO doubt. But I tell you one kid who I think could be a star? LB Malcolm Rodriguez. He's not big, only 5'11 and around 225 lbs... but what he lacks in size, he makes up for it in plays. Former state champion wrestler... he touches you, you're going down. Period. He doesn't miss tackles. Oklahoma State has two former all-state/champions wrestlers on defense and both were the most sure-tacklers I've ever watched. MRod had the most solo tackles as a LB as a power-5 school the past two years. -
I think they will. Same question could have been asked during the 2011 season when OSU was like 0.008 points away from a National Championship slot. Went into the Fiesta bowl against Andrew Luck and #4 ranked Stanford and won. OSU has never played ND and they will have something to prove.

I'm going... got tickets, airfare, hotel, car a couple of days ago. Managed to keep it in the budget. Hard to pass up an Oklahoma State v Notre Dame matchup. Both teams were outside-shots to make the Playoffs this year. Should be a damn good game. Yea, I was probably 1 1/2 when I went to my first college game. My dad is a HUGE Oklahoma State fan (like me) and he went to Dental School at OU, so he had free tickets to games in Norman. He would take me to games and listen to OSU over the radio while watching OU. He took me to the 1976 Bedlam game in Norman (which OSU won).

Let's be honest, we don't really know how the opponents every team stack up to different conferences. Kansas State beat up Stanford, who beat Oregon, who beat tOSU. Oklahoma State pretty much dominated K-State. Etc, etc, etc. We will see over the next month how it goes... but you can only play who's on your schedule. OSU plays teams like Arkansas and Bama over the next 10 years (home and home).

tOSU just got the best DC in the country. I'd argue with anyone that Oklahoma State has the #1 defense in college football this season. Gave up 21 total touchdowns (no more than 24 points allowed in ANY game by that defense). No other team in the nation did that this year. Leads in sacks, 3rd down defense, 4th down defense, top 3 in yards allowed, etc, etc.

I'm still debating rather or not to go to Glendale to see my Cowboys play. It would be an amazing finish to beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, but dropping $1200/per person for the trip... not so excited about. Esp. after Christmas. I'd love for Oklahoma State to play at the new North Texas stadium. Every time I drive by it, it's fascinating how it looks. My earliest memory of a football game was an OSU v UNT game in the Cotton Bowl in 1981. I was 6 years old.

Jackson is good, but not good enough against a Baylor run defense. Warren ran for 125 yards and 2 TDs in the first meeting against Baylor... they couldn't stop him. He is a FAST bruising running back. We didn't have that and seriously needed in last Saturday. I have no doubt we would have won if he had played... even as bad as Sanders played. He did as bad in game one against Baylor and we won by 10.

How do you figure it's only top 10? Only team defense that has allowed 3 TDs or less in any game this year to offenses. Has not allowed a TD after halftime (adjustments) by 1st team defenses the past 6 games - TCU scored 2 TDs on the 2nd team def in the 4Q Leads the NCAA in sacks - 55 - 9 better than Alabama and 13 better than UGA 1st in tackle for loss 3rd in total yards allowed per game 2nd in 3rd down percentage allowed 6th in 4th down percentage allowed 9th in 1st downs allowed per game 8th in scoring defense 12th in passing yards allowed 5th in rushing yards allowed Only UGA and Wisconsin are in the top 10 (like Oklahoma State) in practically ever defensive stat. Perhaps top 10? lol

I was at the game, it was a terrible offensive performance... but we were w/o our 1,100 bruising RB. He got hurt and suited, but never played. The defense, I'd argue... we have the BEST defense in the country. ONLY defense in college football to not allow more than 3 offensive TDs in a game this year. Then you add in, the 1st team defense didn't allow a 2nd half TD in the past 2 months (6 games straight).

Clock error cost the Bills 27 seconds at the end of the game
ArdmoreRyno replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's why we lost. The refs with the clock with 1:30 to go. -
I pray we math it. I know Gundy is trying to get a deal done and the players have all been on social media trying to campaign to pay the man. We return 8 starters off that defense... which you're not going to convince me, it might be the best in the country. After they only allowed 21 points to Baylor, 0 in the 2nd half... while our QB was giving the Bears 37 yards, 11 yard, 50 yard drives due to turnovers. The defense stepped up in a HUGE way in the 2nd half in Bedlam and the Big XII title game. 0 points allowed in both in the 2nd half. I worry we'd lose players to the portal if Knowles leaves

Florida is as well... I hope we pony up and pay him about $2 million/year.

Roller coaster game for sure. I thought we had won the game when we sacked Williams with 1:40 to play. Then after a 3 and out burning their timeouts, then that run... I was about to get sick thinking "Here we go again." I've seen SO MANY Bedlam games where a better OSU team blows it against OU (2010, 2013, 2017). It was nice to see the Cowboys shut the OU offense from scoring a point in the 2nd half. The 24 first half points tied the most points they allowed all season.

Premature post.

Dude, no... we aren't Alabama or Clemson, but my little team is a top 10 program since like 2007. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncf/trends/win_trends/?range=yearly_since_2008
-
I agree with you.... but I don't see Bama winning.
-
I see... a huge Bama homer. And of course you're against expansion... you want your little 4 team club that Alabama will always be in regardless if they are 11-0 or 10-1.
-
Does this hurt ND's chances at getting a top 4 CFP spot in the committees eyes? If it comes down to a 11-1 ND and a 12-1 Oklahoma State team who just won the Big XII title... would they overlook ND?
-
I made my list based off how I feel about the teams. Do I think Cincy would beat Alabama? Not really. But since they are undefeated and beat ND on the road, I have to place them in the top 5. So explain the rolling eyes and laughing. Tell me how my list is wrong... since you disagree. Alabama will be 11-2 after this weekend anyway.
-
Until they join a conference, they shouldn't be regarded as high as they are. Getting a pass right now for being an indy program and it's BS. Besides, they've been blown out in every CFP game they've been in. OSU has beat two top 10 teams (CPF top 10) and the best win ND has is a 3 loss Wisconsin team ranked 14th... a team who is finishing 3rd in their division.

Rumors are here in Oklahoma.... Riley protested the move to the SEC. Why would Oklahoma need to go to a conference like the SEC? They practically ran the Big XII. Top 10 recruiting classes and OU has enough money it shouldn't have been a huge increase for their market. He's been unhappy with the Board of Regents all year. What's crazy, they lose Riley and can fall back on Bob Stoops (the intern HC now). But all that said, F*** OU. Go Pokes!!!! 37-33

We got in a little late (9:30) so we missed being able to park there, but I want to thank everyone that make us Okies welcome (our first game in Buffalo) at the tailgate on the 21st. Got to meet Pinto Ron, Pizza Pete, the guy who owns the firetruck (can't remember his name) and a TON of amazing fellow Mafia members. My dad, not a huge NFL fan, had a BLAST. Especially getting beer out of a firetruck and eating the pizza and food out of the paint trays I hope to make this an annual trip. I just hope next time, we walk away with the win instead of what we saw. Again, THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!

My updated top 10 after Saturday (I was in Stillwater for the Bedlam game ) 1. UGA 12-0 2. Michigan 11-1 3. Oklahoma State 11-1 4. Cincy 12-0 5. Alabama 11-1 6. Notre Dame 11-1 7. Michigan 10-2 8. Ohio State 10-2 9. Ole Miss 10-2 10. Baylor 10-2 UGA should beat down Alabama. Houston could beat Cincy... that would probably push both ND and OSU in at 3rd and 4th respectively. I don't think ND could beat Oklahoma State though, so that's my current rankings. Oklahoma State's defense played horribly in the 1st half against OU. Second half, we shut them out and shut down Caleb Williams. I was about to walk out of the stadium when we spotted them 9 points in the 3Q. I thought "Here we go again". It's crazy, after week 2 and OSU barely beating Tulsa... I walked out of the stadium and talked to my dad about "How are we going to win six games? We will beat Kansas, beat Tech... but who are the other 2 teams we will beat? No one!" Now we are looking at a possible CFP birth. Crazy year.
