Both can be true. There seems to be a desperation to set things out one way or another. He DOES do stupid things, and gets bored with the dink and dunk. That doesn't take away that he COULD have been concussed Monday night. And the stats from before and after the second hit are quite startling. That doesn't mean they shouldn't go in hard on him (in a way it sinks in) about his decision making, but I hope they've put him through concussion protocol as well.

Was Allen concussed? Speculation with some circumstantial evidence.

No reason he can't be both. -

Though they didn't call Josh into the blue tent so how do they know if he was concussed or not? Guess either they didn't see it or thought the hit wasn't hard enough to warrant a review. -

I think someone on here pointed out after the game that Josh hit his head/was hit on the head three times during the game. I think the rest of us (me included) were so wrapped up in the sporting disaster which had just occured that we didn't really take it on board or consider it. I've lost track but I think the video in the OP is of the second hit. Maybe he was fine. And, as said before, Josh has a record of bad plays when he hasn't been hit on the head. But I do wish they had treated him in the same way Jimmy G was against the Broncos - withdraw him and have him assessed before returning if cleared. -
That's fair enough but there are loads of threads dissecting where Josh's issues lie and what he needs to do to fix it. At the same time, he has the talent to pull himself out of the funk, and let's hope the Jets game marked rock bottom. The only way is up.

Either way it's bad. He wasn't concussed and he played bad football or he was concussed and no one pulled him out of the game. The video does offer a possible concussion possibility and, even if he wasn't, he may have still be shaken up for the next play. But at the same time, he's made plays like the three interceptions and fumble when he hasn't hit his head so still needs to learn. -
Not that I want to go down talking about Monday night on this thread (there are 5000 other threads on here for that) but I think he may need to talk to remind himself at half time as well to stay in the right mindset.

Well, the positivity lasted for long...

We seem to be under a deluge of Josh Allen threads and none of them particularly positive, so thought to draw one up. He has the talent to recover from Monday and, to be honest, due to the interceptions and fumble it's easy to forget there was some patented Josh magic as well, plus signs he can "take what is given" as well. This week he's been under negative scrutiny from all quarters - previous players, the media, us, possibly the coaches and team mates as well. But he has the skill to still take us all the way. After the dissection, let's get behind him and show some faith. It's a long season and a lot can and will happen from this point onwards. Someone posted that Daboll sat down with Josh after a previous wobble and showed him some of the great plays he has made to restore his confidence. Maybe doing similar on here will help settle us down - so to start, here's some of his best plays from 2022...

Do the Bills need a " Quarterback Whisperer?"
UKBillFan replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed, but what is happening on the sidelines? It could be selective shots, but every time after a bad play Josh seems to be alone. If so, why? If he has dealt with things better that way before, it doesn't appear to be working now. Instead he seems to be spiralling thanks to his thoughts. Who is there to try and stop it happening? Am I right in saying Dorsey cannot even communicate with Josh if he takes his helmet off? Before he had Dorsey and, as he wasn't calling defense, McDermott to an extent. Who's there now? There's no replacement for McDermott and is Brady having the required impact? -

Dorsey's 42 so the age gap is greater. Plus he was with Daboll and has helped overseen Josh's progression from 2019 onwards, so had Daboll for support for the first two years. Brady only came in last year. -

I just read on another thread about a lot of the players on the offensive side of the ball wanting Dorsey in the booth as he was too emotional on the sidelines. Maybe that should be the ultimate threat to Josh - one more chance to get it right or Dorsey returns as he was better with him there. And everyone will know who to blame. -

Said it earlier elsewhere - the three leaders on offense (Dorsey, Josh and Diggs) are emotion first kind of guys. Where's the calming influence? To his credit, I do think Diggs was trying yesterday. -
No he didn't, well not yesterday anyway.

One thing I would say, and I could be way off, but Brady is 33 to Josh's 27 - there are only six years between them so I imagine there could be a risk of a sibling relationship rather than coach and employee if Brady's personality isn't strong enough to have the needed impact on Josh. -

I think 3rdand12 alluded to it, either on this or the "grow up" thread, but we barely see any support structure around him whenever the camera switches to the sidelines. It was a bit of a surprise to see Diggs speaking to him when the camera switched before overtime. Perhaps it was previously decided he needs to be left alone with his thoughts; if so, I feel this needs to be revisited. If need be, switch Brady and Dorsey - put Brady in the booth to watch for patterns on the field and relay them back to Dorsey, and have Dorsey beside Josh where he used to be. -

I think that can be seen with Milano's taunting call. That's inexcusable and pushed the offense back at the end of the half. An extra 15 yards and maybe they could have got a TD on the board before the break, and possibly settle Josh down rather than see him have a meltdown in the second half. But different people react differently. Some require a dressing down, some need a gentle reminder. It's about getting it right for each player. -

I definitely think he felt the need to make up for his first mistake, and that's an underlying problem with Josh. When he makes an error, he wants to make up for it but he presses too much in trying to amend the error, rather than accepting it and moving on. Interestingly, listening to the Orlovsky interview on the Bills site, he says they need a "Get Josh settled down" section in the playbook. I think that's what Daboll was better at than Dorsey. -

Why was Diggs doing the pick-me-up? It isn't a criticism of Diggs but where was Brady? When Daboll was OC, Dorsey was on the touchline with Josh. I would like to see Dorsey back on the touchline on Sunday. Other OC's call plays from there. -

I hope so, but there have been so many bizarre decisions being made by the coaches and players of late, I'm not sure how much common sense is being used at OP. It feels a bit of a cluster.... at the moment. -

Then what's the point of telling him again unless there is an underlying "or else" threat added to it? He knows, they know, we all know what he should be doing, but he cannot marry up brain and body when in the the moment. That's what they need to try and fix. Just telling him not to do it won't cut it; it won't do anything. -

Coaches can help by taking the right approach with each individual player. For example, I reckon Diggs would relish a row if he has a bad game - be called awful, air home truths, get it all out and move on. Can't see that working with Josh. I also thinks Josh KNOWS yesterday was unacceptable so the point of saying it to him is...? He's like Jekyl and Hyde - the Josh on the sidelines and off the field is different from the one on it. Personally, I hope they sit him down, go through the film and say, what did you see, what were you thinking, what were you hoping to achieve, for both the good and bad. Push him to analyse and break down the game and take it from there. -

Orlovsky had a dig with the "$250m" comment so it's starting - and it was always going to.
