  1. i actually just watched "CaptainDisillusion's" debunk of it...pretty cool and seems the 'prestige' was way more complicated than the trick itself...still pretty cool
  2. i am sure there is some slight of hand going on here, i haven't read any of the comments yet, but its still pretty cool
  3. this....i graduated from a school of 4,000 (liverpool high school) and never had the size or ability to be a high school athlete, but that didn't stop me from being active in other things and gathering a very large group of friends and acquaintances, many of whom I am still in touch with 30+ years later.
  4. well i think the original premise is more fun...there are too many instances of someone taking an obscure song and putting their own twist on things, heck, Counting Crows just did a full CD of other peoples music. The thread as is, taking an established 'hit' and re-making it, that is a challenge for bands, to either copy it as close to the original or, like in the case of All Along The Watchtower, put their mark on it and make it a 'new' song...hell Clapton did it to himself with Layla, the original version and the MTV Unplugged version. I prefer the original thread idea.
  5. Ok, I'll bite...I'm an REM fan, Superman was a cover or are you saying someone since has covered that song. I'm not familiar with either scenario... Well I'll be....just looked it up....I had absolutely no idea. I've never heard the original and have never heard it was a remake....1130pm and I learned something new...I guess it was a good day!
  6. What's wrong with coverage of a nice act? Hell I crowed about my trip to the food bank last week...I did it in hopes that maybe one person saw it and decided to go to their local food bank. Maybe she/they hope that someone pays their act forward after seeing this. Don't hate on people for doing good deeds...one day they may get sick of reading the hate and decide to not give stuff away. I prefer a world where people do good things whether its publicized or not.
  7. How are they being treated like royalty by giving 750+ people a very nice gift?

  19. I know you say you want to stay local, but let me offer the philly area, they have the former GSI Commerce, which has been bought by eBay, GSI runs most of the major online retailers that people visit, it was the company i moved up here for. My experience was pretty crappy, but that was more of a situational thing rather than one that i pin on the company. I gained a ton of valuable experience. We also have QVC which is very strong and they are always looking for merchandise analysts, inventory/allocation analysts, buyers etc...i have a lot of contacts in there Urban Outfitters, Davids Bridal, Destination Maternity are all headquartered here and I also have contacts in them. You would love philly. Let me know if you need any help. PJ
  20. Congrats Man! Make the best of the move and don't look back!
  21. Spent the day today with 20 of my co-workers and a couple other local company groups at Philabundance, a food bank that serves the 8(?) counties that surround the Philadelphia area. We sorted, prepped and packed over 37.5 tons of food that will now be distributed to people in need in my local area. Food banks, food panty's etc are my personal favorite community service activity. It is so incredibly humbling to realize what and why you are doing, and so frigging rewarding to realize how you are impacting people that really need it. We all sit here and talk about our favorite beers and fancy foods, but friends, family, neighbors, co-workers are sitting there wondering how they are going to put food on their table, for whatever reason. I have been close to that feeling before but thankfully never that bad-off. I know we all do our own thing to give back to the community however much we can. This time of year especially we shouldn't lose focus that some among us are in real need and there are organizations out there that are providing food, clothing, shelter for those that need it, but they cannot do it without the community help and support. Please continue to give whatever you can. It really is one of the most rewarding things I do and I cannot wait until i go back next month and do it again. Thanks for the soapbox.
