It's felt this way the past three seasons. They just always seem mentally exhausted. Tons of games where they have no spark, nothing goes smoothly, players constantly looking beleaguered and embattled...it's weird, right? I can't put my finger on it, but there has been something off mentally with them for a long time.

My gut says it's coaching, but the players supposedly like McDermott & Co.

He’s right guys, check the Bills record under McDermott in December.  It checks out

We currently sit $41.4 million over the cap. I'm sure Beane has different restructure and cut plans in place already to get us under. But there is a lot of work to be done. Though it is good to see so much of our core in place.

Beane did a good job accumulating draft picks and I believe he’ll use these to trade up.

There’s to be a lot of holes on defense especially in the secondary and d-line.  My fear is that they go heavy on defense and ignore the WR position or fill it with “value” FA’s.  The position needs an upgrade and the Bills have to start thinking of life after Diggs in a season or two

I’ve never been there in person, no.  It’s hard to tell from TV.  As an away team Buffalo is represented well.  Not just from loyal traveling fans, but also from WNY who are all over the US - (except for Buffalo 😂)

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Get ready South Florida here comes Bills Mafia!

Sunday's showdown for the AFC East title in Miami is a road game for the Buffalo Bills, but it may not look and feel like it.

According to VividSeats.com, it projects that more than half of the fans inside Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday will be rooting for the Buffalo Bills. That's a lot of red, white and blue as the stadium holds 65,326 people.

Using the "Fan Forecast" algorithm VividSeats projects that the split of fans at Sunday's game in Miami will be 52% to 48% in favor of the Bills.

I don't quite see how a home crowd could be under < 50% especially when the visiting team is not really close in proximity.

  5. I always think the worst, so I chose option 2.  It’s probably not logical, as much as it is superstitious and being pessimistic as a lifelong Bills fan.

Trying to think of it as an impartial fan, despite it being a road game, I think Buffalo comes in with a huge advantage from a health standpoint alone. Not having Chubb and Howard is going to hurt the defense.  I don’t think Hill is close to 100% as he was earlier in the year and even if Mostert and Waddle play, both aren’t going to be close to 100% as well.

You can also think that Miami wants to bounce back after being humiliated - they probably won’t play that bad two weeks in a row.  But at the same time Buffalo’s offense didn’t play great either and there’s just as much of a chance of them bouncing back too.

Either way - I am 99.9% certain that McDermott will be HC next year even if the Bills get blown out 56-19 on Sunday.  Not as sold on Brady, especially given McDermott’s comments about Diggs, but I think he’s likely to return as OC.

Obviously we all know that the only way the Bills get in with a loss is if Pitt or Jacksonville lose. Well, a couple pieces of news today:

    1) Ravens (playing Pitt) announced they are making Lamar Jackson inactive. In addition to this, the Ravens reporters on Twitter expect many more starters to sit out or see very little action.

    2) The Titans (playing Jax) have 15 people on their injury report. The Titans are terrible as it is - they can’t afford any players to be injured.

Only 5 were DNP… Just like Miami, there’s a good chance the majority of the 15 player listed as Limited go on Sunday.

In 2018, we drafted Josh Allen. He was a project QB, with a lot of potential, but also a lot of work. We were told that we would see little to no Josh that season, because he would be riding the bench and learning his first year.

I still don't understand, five years later, why Peterman was the guy he was to learn behind. Let's even forget the now legendary 5 INT game. Let's give the benefit of the doubt that Peterman truly did majorly improve to be relatively serviceable, he was still just barely a rookie himself with almost no playing time.

Why was McDermott and/or Beane so adamant about this kid? Wouldn't the best bet have been to get a Fitzpatrick-esque guy. An experienced veteran, who might not light up the leauge, but would win some games for you, and most importantly play an important mentor role in Josh's development. Seems to have worked for Tua.

Because instead, Peterman sucked, as we all thought, and Josh got thrown to the wolves his rookie year. Obviously it worked out, but it very well may not have.

If you watched the preseason in 2018, you’d know that Peterman looked really good playing against bland defenses and second and third teamers.

Also there were still some like John Gruden who spoke highly of The Peterman as a prospect.  So even though he had a horrendous game in San Diego, it was was a small sample size.

There’s a lot of hindsight about Peterman too.  The consensus from some is that McDermott was crazy to bench Tyrod.

But if you lived the 2017 season, Tyrod was struggling to pass for 200 yards…200 yards!  His performance was on a steady decline culminating with a 56 yard outing against NO.

Yes a starting QB passing for 56 yards in 4 quarters.  In that game, he was the worst player on offense.

So turning to Peterman was an attempt to for a spark.  The Bills weren’t moving the ball through the air much or scoring points, so I’m guessing he thought there wasn’t much to lose.

It was a knee jerk reaction and a mistake McDermott has owned up to.  But the move wasn’t as far fetched as some want to portray.  Look at Tyrod’s stats that game.

Tyrod would remain a very limited passer but the best thing he did was not throw INT’s and hand off to Shady.

Some many Bills fans lie and pretend they were at the game.  The game was blacked out which seems unheard of for a playoff game.  I thinks fans began to suffer from fatigue and IIRC the Bills got destroyed by Houston the previous week and most thought would lose again.

This is likely going to ruffle some feathers around here. Every year there are guys stats that overstate their performance. I think that is year it is Kincaid. This is less about his ability and more how he was used most of the season. This past game we finally saw him going downfield where he should be. He is not Cole Beasley who will catch and pass and quickly turn up field for the extra yards squeezing through guys, he is not a monster TE that will catch a pass and run guys over for 5 yards. Yet he was primarily used in that capacity racking up easy catches but limited yards or impact. Below are some comps from the other starting TE's around the league.

    Yards per rec

    Kincaid 8.9

    Kittle 15.7 tops amongst TE's

Most starters are in the 10-11 range

    TD

    Kincaid 2

    LaPorta is top at 9

Many others have 5-6. Kincaid at the low end with 2

    1st Downs

    Kincaid 26

    Kelce 51 tops amongst TE's

Most with similar rec numbers are in the 30's and 40's. Kincaid is low end.

    Average Depth of Target

    Kincaid 5.8 yards

Pitts is tops at 11.4 yards; Kittle is at 9.4 yards

Most are in the 6-7 range, though some in the 5's with Kincaid at the low end.

    Yards after Catch

    Kincaid 4.3 yards

Kittle and Njoku at 7.4 yards are tops

Many are in the 4-6 range with Kincaid at the low end.

    Broken Tackles

    Kincaid 3

McBride is at 10 and Njoku and LaPorta are at 9

Many other from 2-7 range. Kincaid at low end.

This is not a Kincaid sucks post. This is a they are confused in how to use him post and lets not celebrate his # of rec's stats. He is not a throw it to and watch him run over or around guys like he is being used. He is a tall lanky TE that should be going down the same and catching contested passes. Most NFL caliber players could replicate Kincaid catches or they would be out the league. He can and should do more and I want to see that from him...like we saw some of last week. I am happy he broke some reception records blah blah, but lest see them cut him loose.

I think there’s a lot of truth to this.  Kincaid has tremendous potential but needs to be used correctly.  LaPorta is used much better in Detroit’s offense but if you swapped both players I don’t think LaPorta puts up the numbers Kincaid did in Buffalo.

It seems like Kincaid was being used in the “safety valve” role that Cole Beasley used to have which would explain his low YPC.

I never got the impression that Dorsey and the offense were great running plays out 12 personnel and I think that was part of the problem.

Well, @HappyDays , who has some sources, says this guy has broken some good info later confirmed.

The shoulder injury is not some top-secret ooga booga.  Josh has been on the injury report up until this past week.  At the time of the injury, Josh acknowledged it and injury spotters/analysts like Kyle Brandt (Banged Up Bills) said the mechanism was consistent with an AC joint sprain.    It's lingered past the point where a Grade 1 sprain is likely so it's likely Grade 2 (more tearing).

The only new info is the implication that there's something going on besides an AC joint sprain, which someone else in the twitter thread threw out a suggestion about (and his abbreviation doesn't line up, but the general idea is a secondary inflammatory process).  But the fact that Josh was actually throwing OK right after the injury and has since plummeted in completion percentage and passing attempts per game, is entirely consistent with playing through the original injury leading to a secondary problem.

And yeah, @Alphadawg7 is completely on-the-mark in my opinion that the guy is a total tool for his schtick of "telling everyone Josh has a shoulder injury but then saying well I won't say exactly what it is until after the season because I was told to keep it confidential" (but I'll say it's an AC joint injury but more than just an AC injury).

Hey @Beck Water Banged up Bills is a real life PT named Kyle Trimble.  Kyle Brandt is the Angry Runs guy from NFLN.

It has been theorized by many that Allen has been struggling with some kind of shoulder injury this season. Apparent confirmation here:

FWIW CJ Caggiano is a reputable insider, I've followed him for a while. Every year he has schedule leaks that turn out to be correct, and he has given a couple injury updates that turned out to be correct as well.

Take the info how you will, but if true it could possibly explain some of the recent mechanical issues Allen has had on some of his throws.

I don’t buy this at all.  First off who in the blue hell is CJ Caggiano and how does he have better sources than anyone else in the NFL.

    Smell the BS

  13. If anyone heard the Mike Vrabel interview this week - it’s clear that coaches and players don’t see things the way fans do.

Miami and McD want that AFCE Divisional title.

To your point, I don’t see Miami rushing back a Jaylen Waddle like they might have if Sunday were a playoff game.  But I also think they’ll have Mostert give it a go, rather than resting him.

Also, I don’t think Miami believes they can win 3 in a row on against winning teams on the road.  They don’t believe they can win outside of Miami Gardens, which is odd considering the home advantage isn’t that good

Let’s be honest too… there’s no guarantee the Bills win.  Miami would win the AFCE, give some key players rest, and get 2 home games as the 2 seed.

This could likely play out as Lamar did, they'll end up signing him, and then we'll hear how wonderful it was that the Dolphins built the best defense in the league while Tua basically plays Dilfer-ball to win 14 games.

Unless Miami plays in the Super Bowl, I think it will play out similar to Daniel Jones.  He’ll get a new deal around $40-$45M - enough to put him in the Top 10 for the moment.  But I also think they’ll also level room for a potential out.

If Miami plays in the SB I can see him getting a Hurts like deal

The Ravens and the 49ers are in the top 7 for points scored in the First and Second Quarters.  That, to me, means they are playing with the lead.  Playing with lead puts pressure on opposing offenses to try for chunk plays, which means they are running plays with lower success rates and are more predictable.  Those things allow defenses to feast and will allow average defenders to be "better" because they know they are playing the Pass.  The best way to win in Football, regardless of the level, is to put as many points on the board as possible and force the other team to throw it on every down.

100% but on a tangent, this is why I think you need to be careful to just assume that Baltimore and San Francisco are going to have an easy path into the Super Bowl.

They aren’t always going to get out to big lead.    San Francisco and Dallas are great examples of this.  Both teams looked unstoppable… and they then they fell behind to BUF and BAL and struggled mightily.

I'm usually a BPA type - stick to your board.  There are obviously limits - I don't think RBs, TEs, OG's, Safeties, and LBs are usually worth 1st round picks unless they are players you project as all-pro's.  Value you can get on QB/WR/DE/DT/CB/OT 5yr rookie deals is too good to pass up since those are the most expensive positions to fill.

I’m really hoping Beane takes a WR in the first round this year and would then like to see another taken in round 2 if they are rated high on our board. We did this with Rousseau and Basham when we needed someone to get after Mahomes. Why can’t we do it again for our franchise qb?

Go hard at the position and give yourself the best shot possible at finding another top receiver. These guys could end up being WR1 and WR2 after Diggs leaves. I love the idea of rookie contracts, with one having the fifth year option. This is a passing league and if we hit on one, that gives Allen Kincaid and the new guy for at least 4 years on rookie deals. If we hit on both, then all the better.

I’m good with this… the Bills have never spent a premium asset to draft a wide receiver and I’m pretty sure that changes this season - especially given Diggs’ age and contract.  In fact, I’m pretty sure they restructured Diggs’ deal with this move in mind.  They are confident he’ll perform at a high level for at least 1 season - maybe longer.  With Diggs (and Shakir to a lesser extent), it allows the new WR to contribute as a rookie without being “the guy”

Some have theorized that in a year or two a lot of the passing game will be run through Kincaid - the way it has in Kansas CIty with Kelce.  But the more good receivers the better.
