  1. Man even though it’s the Dolphins it was sad to see their season at the hands of the Chiefs.  I sure as hell hope that doesn’t happen Sunday night.

I’m convinced that Mike McDaniel is Rex Ryan.  He wants to be the players best friend and he’s also a big talker (not as charismatic though).  This is all good once your winning but when you lose, those motivational pep talks loses impact.  It kind of seemed like Miami knew they were going into Arrowhead to lose.

Chances of playing this week based on current info. Would you bet over (better chance) or under (worse chance) on the following?

    LIKELY IN

-Baylon Spector 85% (likely spasms, mostly pain management thing)

-Rasul Douglas 75% (putting significant stock in what he told Tim Graham, because he did not practice last week, and McDermott suggested he wasn't closer than Dodson was to play vs Steelers)

-Tyrel Dodson 75% (seemed like he was closer to playing last week than Douglas, but always possible mcdermott is being overly vague/non transparent)

    TOSS UP

-Sam Martin 50% (seems like a true toss up right now)

-Gabe Davis 50% (seems highly questionable, don't have a lean one way or the other)

    LIKELY OUT

-Terrel Bernard 15% (seems like a long shot to play despite better-than-expected postgame injury news)

-Taron Johnson 25% (multiple concussions in same season, seems unlikely he would clear protocol given short week)

-Christian Benford 35% (didn't return to game, seems like possible meniscus per banged up bills, but either way, seems more unlikely than likely)

That banged up Bills guy does a. Good job spotting injuries but he’s wrong a lot of the time when it comes to returns.  In the past month, he said that DaQuan Jones wasn’t going to be activated when he was.  He also predicted that Rasul and Dodson were playing last week.  The week before vs. Miami, he said Waddle and Mostert were going to play.

Nothing against him, but he’s just making educated guess like a lot of us are and missing a lot of important medical information.  Of course he’s a PT, so he has a much more informed take than the average fan but his estimates are still guesses and far from certain.

I don't think that anybody in Miami's front office, including the owner, has the stones to make the difficult and painful decision here

Tua is never going to be more than he is right now.  He doesn't have the physical tools or leadership abilities to be what Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes are today

He's just good enough to keep winning in September & October and in warm weather - when conditions are right and he can play in rhythm with talented teammates

But even though this franchise is probably scared to death of not having a high performing QB, the right move is to trade him now, rip off the band-aid of other high $ contracts and start over

But they'll never do it, and I for one am thrilled...

We all know there’s no way they give Tua a competitive QB deal.  My guess is that the hope is to sign him to a Daniel Jones type deal with the option for an out.  It’s a commitment but not one that kills the franchise if it doesn’t work out.

He shouldn’t sign that deal and his agent probably won’t let him.

    That is horrible, horrible news.

KC should be slight favorites now.

BS fans make too big of a deal over referees.  Just like Chiefs fans who assumed that Carl Cheffers meant they’d lose the SB.

or when the Cowboys were undefeated with the crew that was assigned in Buffalo.   Clearly that means a loss right!?!?

McD just listed the entire list as day to day at his presser.  I’ll take it, if anyone looks to be out for the year he says so.

The one that scares me is Taron Johnson in CP.  It’s the second time this season.  IIRC, he exited protocol fairly early.  Hopefully that happens again.

  6. This is why I don’t understand the experts here saying that Elam was burned.  He gave up one catch in coverage and had 1 holding penalty that he later negated with an INT.

I know McDermott is not alone on this. I need to know why when say bills are leading, on defense, have timeouts to use l, end of game/half , he always use timeouts?! Like he’s going to get penalized if he doesn’t use them. I don't get the purpose. I’m sure someone here can advise but I assume it’s to see how the offense lines up?!

They keep stats for everything so I need to know % chance something good comes out of it. I actually have a running joke at home that the % chance immediately after he called timeout, the very next play is a TD or very least first down must be 90% lol. I can’t be alone feeling this way. Happened again yesterday end of half, I can think of at least 5 times this year alone that happened. Hell even if it’s a miracle type play. Chiefs game, where toney lined up Offside but would have been TD, after a timeout. To me I seen them get burned way to much in this. All it does is allows offense to get set, get together come up with exact play they want and discuss.

Petty? Maybe. Has to my least favorite thing about him. Do others have issues with this game in and game out?

He called timeouts at the end of the half because he wanted to get the ball back for his offense.  This was obvious.

As far as his other uses, in the Dunne articles the said that it’s a called a “kodak.”   It gives the defense a look at the personnel and the potential the play the offense is running and an opportunity to match it best on defense.  This is common among defenses, though sometimes I feel it gives the offense a chance to rest

Special Teams has been a major concern this year and I've been clamoring about it for weeks on end.  Smiley needs to be relieved of duties at seasons end imo.

Special teams has become a huge liability this year and once again reared it's head in the wild card game.  A blocked field goal and two missed FG in game.  The block changed the entire dynamic of the game.

This year we've had blocked field goals, punt return for TD, kick off return for TD, fake punt against us, and 12 men on the field during FG attempt that directly cost us a game.

Bass has been horrible, punting is less than desirable and outside of a few key Special teams players the SP teams as a whole has been less than average.

A change needs to be made.

I think this a change is definitely possible, and has been for weeks, but things aren’t as bleak as you make them out to be.

Special Teams essentially changed the game against Miami and Sam Martin had been doing an excellent job pinning teams deep in their own territory.   Then there was the fumble caused by Reggie Gilliam on a kick return that started a rout of the Jets.

As far as the block last night, it did change the game.   It seemed to me that it was more of a function of Bass kicking the ball differently resulting in a low kick that got blocked.   It wasn’t related to coaching.

The missed XP looked like a holding issue possibly related to the Martin injury.

So it seems like your gripe is mostly with Bass who has not been great this year.   Like I said, I can see the Bills replacing Smiley because of the moments you mentioned but ST’s have had their moments too.

he’s become a middle of the road kicker.

How could you say he’s mentally screwed?  His kick was blocked and he missed an extra point on what appears what a bad hold.

Regularly all game. He was playing off a lot and couldn't time his closing, so the separation was generally pretty substantial. He almost had a second pick, but that was a busted play because the receiver fell down. Still, he made a nice play on that one. He's just not very trustworthy on a regular basis. He gets spun around a lot.

I went back and watched every Pittsburgh possession.  You are right he played off a lot but I couldn’t find many opportunities where he was beat.  I think overall he did a good enough where he can fill in if necessary

  11. 5 minutes ago, Shaw66 said:

Exactly.  It seems like people reaurrected their observations from 2022 and repeated them here.  We've only had one game to watch him, and what I saw seemed encouraging.

If he was so easy to beat, why didn't the Steelers attack him?

I just pulled up YouTube TV and went back and watched after the INT.  He doesn’t play man so it’s hard to know exactly what his responsibilities in zone are as opposed to other players.  But he didn’t really many plays where he straight up got beat.

Pittsburgh seemed to target Dane Jackson more often.  So everyone saying he gives up easy catch is basing that on his past and not what we saw last night.

I felt there wasn’t enough there to overturn the call, had it been called a recovery, that would’ve stayed also.

That said, it was a good challenge. Just put the Bills in a bad spot with no further challenges.

Refs were even in my opinion. Steelers got away with their own share of calls.

    Better team won.

This is the problem with officiating and the NFL rules overall especially when it comes to incompletions of fumbles.  They over complicated things so badly that no one knows what a catch or fumble is anymore

Honestly though the Eagles would return to the Superbowl. That is an epic meltdown that will cost someone a job.

Dallas on the other hand looked like a team trying to get their coach fired. I bet they succeed too. They just quit. That was embarrassing even if you're not a Cowboy fan.

IMO much like Miami, Dallas was always a very flawed football team that beat up on bad teams.   Their recipe for success was to score early and then let the defense close out the game by wreaking havoc on the DL.   This was never a script that would work against good teams as we saw vs Philly, San Francisco, Buffalo and now GB.

The defense has Parsons who helped mask a lot of flaws but there really wasn’t anyone else to be concerned with.

I like Dak Prescott a lot but don’t feel he was ever as good as his hype and that he took advantage of beating up bad teams too.  Same with DaRon Bland, who set a record for pix 6 INT’s but is hardly a lock down corner.

So outside of Lamb and Parsons you have a team of pretenders.   After watching the Bills mop the floor with them and then Miami take it to them, I knew they were cooked and watched in amazement as some “experts” picked them to win the SB.

Yes, that was very enjoyable watching the Cowboys get their asses handed to them.

You might say....I "LOVE"d to see it.

I have a theory that all Bills fans knew the team Dallas was after the 31-10 blowout.

Blowout losses in games neither team looked ready to compete. The Eagles were figured out, (and they forgot how to tackle), down the stretch and their new OC was in over his head, much like Ken Dorsey. It seemed on many replays where Hurts was sacked, they had four receivers just running straight down the field. It seemed TB was giving them the middle of the field and they just never adjusted.

Outside of the Bills game, I had the most fun watching the Boys get run over. It was a stunning home loss for that franchise. Will be very interesting to see what Jerry does with McCarthy.

What happened to Philadelphia just boggles my freaking mind.  I guess injuries played into it but they just seemed to slam right into a wall at 110 MPH.

The team I saw last night, resembled nothing of the 10-1 SB contender.   I watched them absolutely bully the crap out of Miami on a Sunday night game and thought how tough of a matchup that they would be for teams

It’s just staggering a team went from looking that good to THAT bad in a span of a few weeks.

Brady's playcalling for two long passes on 2nd and 3rd and 7 were horrible.  The Bills were b slapping the Squeelers up and down the field, and we gave them life with that blocked FG.  Punt there or go for it, and I'm not sure they ever score (although the mounting injuries made them scoring inevitable).

I didn’t love that…but to be fair we don’t know whether Josh was the one to get out of the run and audible to a passing play.

Nah, they went at him several times.  They had a big play to Pickens, but he slipped and fell.

Look at Pickens stats, he caught 5 passes for 50 yards.  Diante Johnson had 4 passes for 48 yards.  If they went at Elam, they weren’t all that successful.

The FG block was the play of the game because it completely changed the complexion.  Squeelers came back from 21 down to only 7 down at one point.  Luckily Tupac came through to ice the game.

I mean - it sure seemed that way to us nervous  fans but the Bills really never lost control of the game.   Even when Pittsburgh scored to cut the lead to 7, the Bills scored a TD and got the ball right back

I don’t think Bass ever should have attempted that FG in the conditions.  Everyone hates punting but had the Bills ran the ball instead of throwing incomplete passes they could have pinned Pittsburgh inside the 20 with 90 seconds to go.  It’s all hindsight now though

    Elam’s INT

I’ll agree.  I think it’s a small step to giving him some confidence.  He almost had a 2nd one as well.  And while he did give up a TD, I think he played better in the 2nd half
