Idk what you're talking about. If you haven't noticed a difference in his performance the last two seasons - I don't know what to tell you.

He did the whole body re-composition his rookie season.  By now it’s not a factor.  He’s had 3 season to acclimate to playing at a lighter size.

It sounds like you’re making excuses for him.

I'm 50/50 on this deal. Epenesa is a good rotational option and still has upside. His contract came in a bit cheaper than I thought it would so it isn't a crazy overpay. But once again we are spending a good chunk of money on a rotational defensive lineman. I just hope all of these depth re-signings aren't going to lock us out from signing a real difference maker at WR or EDGE.

I don’t like it either.  AJ is a really bad run defender and has been a liability at times so the team has to play him situationally.

$10M per, not worth it. He completely fell off towards the end. Get some young blood in here.

Floyd’s production came in spurts and early in the season.  8 of his sacks came in 4 games.

He never had a sack in December or January when the team needed him.

Dont get me wrong.  He’s a good vet to have on defense and a great signing by Beane.  Not at $10M a season.

Since undergoing a body transformation a couple years ago, he's been a different player entirely. As far as a rotational Edge player, he's been pretty darn consistent the past couple seasons. Some guys are late bloomers.

How many years are we gonna use this excuse for?   It’s about four right now

I know. I agree but the point is they cant/aren’t willing to shell out for Ridley if that’s what they paid Gabe…

The next best option isn’t that bad was simply my point.

We don’t even know what kind of money Ridley is getting

With Harty released and now Gabe signing with the Jags, what is the strategy/approach for WR? Are we going dumpster diving in Free Agency and then hoping we hit in the draft at WR?

Our current roster is Diggs, Shakir, Sherfield and Shorter (inactive all season). Currently not scaring anyone and probably in the bottom 10 as a WR group.

Anyone else uncomfortable? That’s a lot of pressure to hit on WR that is impactful in the draft! Do we trade up?

Thoughts or perspective on Beane’s approach?

Look for the Bills to draft a WR in the first round and maybe another. I think they’ll likely sign an undervalued player while potentially bringing back a player like Trent Sherfield for ST/WR6

Might work out for them. Engram/Kirk/Jones/Davis isn’t exactly awful.

The comment was “Ridley is a downgrade from Davis.”

I’m saying I’d rather have Calvin Ridley than Gabe Davis at WR.  They downgraded the WR2 position from one season ago

And is there any scenario more scary or uncertain than an overpaid under-performer getting cut right as FA starts? Especially for a guy who was a walk-on in college, parlayed it to a 3d round pick, and parlayed that into a $52M contract which he has already earned $25M of?

And especially as a TE in this market.

Between Knox and Von it certainly seems that Beane is leveraging the threat of a release against the players

He called the Knox rework. Was probably last week.

he called the Rousseau foot injury I think last season.

Hes had others but I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Thanks for sharing actual examples rather than just screaming at me.  Appreciate that

@HappyDays had called quite a few things, including, most recently, the approach to Knox for a paycut well before it was announced by the team.

Ok can you give me some examples of what he’s called out?  I haven’t been following this place too closely - just want to know

Personally,  I think they wanted someone at center who could anchor better against big DT's as much as they wanted younger/healthier.

Morse could be pushed around in tight quarters and with the concussion history I think that was something he had to concede in his game to stay healthy.   Eric Wood had to adjust his game similarly after all of his injuries early in his career as well(including having his leg snapped trying to anchor against a bigger DT).

2 pages and no "see, we should have drafted Creed Humphrey 4 years ago" references? ;)

I can see that as well

I was told a couple weeks ago Knox was approached about a paycut. I'm not sure what leverage we used considering his dead money hit would have been higher than his normal cap hit, but I'm glad to see he accepted the paycut. Perhaps we threatened a release with a post-6/1 designation?

Glad to see Beane being especially ruthless this offseason. It is a necessary change.

    Who told you this?

He’s a good guy. He got the money we couldn’t give him. But that officially means the mourning period is over.

I don’t buy that.  The Bills could have extended him for 2-3 years.  They didn’t want to likely because of his age and injury history.

Josh Allen makes up for it as much as he can

the only other elite player is Milano

Ed Oliver & Taron Johnson are close

    Kincaid could be elite.

Diggs could be elite again, we’ll see.

Ed Oliver is a good player.  He’s not anywhere close to elite.  He will feast on inferior talent but when facing top interior line play he disappears like he did against Kansas City

    It doesn't bother me tbh

I mean Allen did come up short. That's the easy take and it's not wrong. Just the nuance of why is likely beyond the wherewithal of your average sports media.

If you watched that game, it was clear Allen and maybe Shakir were the only guys that showed up to play.  That’s why I can understand the incorrect narrative as annoying.

It was Allen disappointing as much as it was the rest of his teammates and coaches

Comparing to the chiefs and 49ers the 2 SB teams, here's how I'm going to categorize as elite:

-Made 1st team/2nd all pro last year

-Top 3/4 at position. (For example, Josh and Mahomes are elite even though they didn't get voted all pros)

So for the bills I got 3 players but technically only 2 last year cause the Milano injury.

    -Josh, Milano, Taron.

    Chiefs: 7 players

-Mahomes, Kelce, thuney, humphries, C Jones, Mcduffie, Sneed

49ers: Hufanga got hurt so technically 7 players

-Mccafery, Aiyuk, T Williams, Kittle, Bosa, Warner, Hufanga, Chardavious Ward

    (I didn't include their fullback)

So in the playoffs if you factor in injuries, bills had 2 "elite" players based on the all pro selection/my opinion.

    Chiefs 7

And 49ers 7 with the Hufanga injury.

While the bills have a lot of good to very good players, I really think they are missing some game breakers on this team.

    What do you guys think?

To be honest…not really.  You have Josh Allen and no one else on offense and that is a major problem.

Diggs?  Watch the game against Kansas City and tell me he’s elite.

Kincaid has the chance to be elite,  but he’s not there yet.

Defensively I’d argue that Milano is/was elite and Taron Johnson is among the top NCB’s in the league.

So that means the Bills have 3 at most.

Here’s where you can fault Brandon Beane and maybe McDermott as well.  They’ve drafted and signed lots of “solid” player and only a few busts which is good.  But you need a few more “elite” players to get over the hump.

All of the 6 out of 7 players you listed from KC were draft picks - including 3 draft picks added over the past 4 seasons.

3 of the 7 SF players you listed (and don’t think all 7 are “elite”) were acquired through FA/trade.

The Bills have not landed high end talent either through FA or the draft and it’s one area that’s holding them back.

    Jason Peters says hello.

Poor analogy.  The only similarity is that they both play LT.

It appears that Dion loves the team, wants to stay in Buffalo but is on the final year of his deal.

Peters signed a new contract, but wasn’t happy in Buffalo, so he demanded a new deal using the rationale that he switched to LT.  it was a tactic to get out of Buffalo and it worked.
