Any argument that Reid wasn’t a good O coach is not wanting to see the facts. In Philly his O was explosive and made Westbrook a star. KC certainly was solid. He was a top 6-8 O for 8 or 10 years. And yes that helped Mahomes.

Thanksgiving Game: Texans at Lions @ 12:30 est
QLBillsFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Texans playing well. They should have beaten the Titans in first match up. They are going to be a real pain for Colts and Titans the rest of the way. I see them winning 7 games and moving into teens for draft position. Just ahead of the Dolphins who finish 8-8. -
To your point for every negative critic of JA like Warner or Bradshaw you have others Simms / Favre think he’s going to be unreal. I don’t get the pressure on JA being worse than any other franchise QB this year? Brees, Brady, Ben, Rivers, all have pressure with their own unique circumstances. They all have legacy pressure? R Wilson and Mahomes himself . JA would say yeah that’s why I am driven to be a franchise QB! To be the man that leads the Bills to a SB win!
-
The story is not complete. It’s likely that we have this discussion and KC and Mahomes win additional SB’s over the next five years or so. If in fact the Bills win one with JA it turns out to a win win situation. To suggest that Mahomes isn’t great is foolish, but to suggest he was not benefited by KC just isn’t realistic. He probably elevates the Bills but it certainly would have taken longer than in KC. Maybe last year or certainly this year. I like our guy to win one in the next few years. If John Brown can get healthy and the D to continue to improve it’s not impossible it could be this year. But it will take a phenomenal effort to beat KC on the road.

Your spot on about TT and air raid. I think about a half dozen gunslingers from that program put up huge stats but flamed out in the NFL. And the experts had a full range of questions about Mahomes. Disagree on the Tyler Dunne article. He has Whaley and Monos directly stating Pegula’s high interest on Mahomes. TD is well respected and had the guts to run a less than favorable article on Rodgers of the Pack a few years back.
-
Mahomes is great and he has a SB. AR is a Hall of Fame coach and developed Mahomes. As of now KC got over. They certainly seem to be the winner of the trade as of now. Super interesting article from Tyler Dunne on Pegula. We essentially got TW and JA. The complete story has yet to be written. It’s possible that Mahomes doesn’t peak so early as he did with KC and just now would be coming around with current weapons on Bills. Several have posted this. The huge contract Mahomes now has will challenge the cap for many years. It seems if the Bills can strike this year or next it’s the best window. After that we are in the same boat as the other teams with “franchise “ QB’s. The good news is that we have one. Essentially for the next ten years we are one of 8-10 teams who can really contend for a SB. Isn’t that what we wanted for the past 20 years 🤷🏻♂️? So while I marvel at Mahomes at the same time I know we have a shot for a good long time. Why not this year ?

Playoff Machine is up and running

I think the Raiders would be tough in round one. Veteran QB speed and quality at WR. Top 3 TE. Good running game. Decent D, and the fact we beat them in fairly close game. Weather is huge advantage for Bills as Carr is Fresno State grad and has not played real well in cold games. Rather play Browns or Titans. Titans seem to have tougher schedule so I see us battling Colts for #3. Assuming we win AFC East which we should be able to get- not saying it will be easy. Raiders have also played KC as good as anyone and they don’t fear them. -
Ravens-Steelers now postponed to Wednesday 3:40 pm
QLBillsFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it has to do with TV contracts. Fox has a mini slate of Thursday prime time games. Moving them to Sunday reduces viewership. NBC has a huge slate of games and is more likely to consider a move. The 49ers were decimated for that game and forced to play. The Steelers and Bills both have been jerked around. Participants Steelers losing their true bye. -
People keep referring to the Tellar trade as a mistake. I’m glad he’s doing well in Cleveland but he was not doing well enough on the Bills to crack the lineup. Our OL is fairly deep and when healthy I would not have seen him starting. The sign of a good team is trading or releasing players that contribute elsewhere.
-
I would argue he also made Bruce better. He was 2 time D player of year in AFC. I doubt anyone has had that distinction and didn’t get in who had a ten+ year career. Had the Bills even won 1 SB it would be a no brainer. He made big plays in big games and yes perhaps wasn’t always as consistent as you would like. Unfortunately while arguably Tasker is the best ST player ever he will likely have to wait for a while.
-
I see the Bills taking care of business. The D has done a much better job of game planning. While Wilson did some damage and Murray got the last second TD. We caused challenges for both -Wilson turnovers and Murray 170 yards up to the last drive. If you take out the Hail Mary he has about 200 yards. I see us giving a really good rookie QB in Herbert enough trouble to win by 10. McClappy and BD know that some semblance of a running game post Thanksgiving has to happen. Time for the OL and Motor to have a day.

Sherman White #83 -
Again I know the point made is to say he was throwing the ball all over the field in college. That is correct, but again who was he throwing to? Two #1 WR''s who are both making an impact in the NFL. The point many of us are making is, does he have an elite NFL arm? For example the JA throw to Diggs, the Herbert gun to Allen vs Jets. I think he is a winner and apparently a good kid, but does he fit the new NFL ( super elusive/big arm, or both)? I think that is the point. I see him with Baker type ceiling, or middle of the pack who certainly can win but not carry an NFL team.
-
I actually think that Tua could develop into a decent starting QB in this league. But he’s not JA or Herbert and with Lawrence going to the Jets potentially the Dolphins may be in a bind. I don’t see Fields as a better option and that leaves the BYU kid( who’s probably 26 ) 😂. Tough situation the Dolphins are in unless he really comes on in last 6 games. If he does I’ll be the first to come on and say I was wrong. As many have pointed out it’s taken three years and better weapons to see JA ‘s potential. I just don’t know if he has elite NFL 2021 attributes.
-
But he was surrounded by #1 draft talent and superior athletes to support. For Flores to pull him when he needed to learn how to fight through a tough game tells me all I need to know. They should have not brought him in if they aren’t willing to let him learn. Now facing Mahomes, Carr, JA, Cam and even Darnold is he better then any of them. Not so much. Wait until the phins are down even against Jets do you think the team has any confidence in him if the coaches don’t?
-
K Murray has had a solid second year but not sure he’s better than JA. The running around is not sustainable. Fields looked like for the first time in his life under pressure, and he looked like a HS qb at times. I bet Tua was high on this list last year. Silly to compare any college qb to established starters in NFL.

Goff stepping up. Bob Woods is a baller! -
At first I thought your topic was not going to offer much. But you really made a strong case. TE and stopping the run seem to be the two areas where they had upper hand. Maybe we can improve but as others mentioned TE not so much. Having JA developing into his potential and improved D gives Bills a chance.

I’m gonna guess Tua was #2 or #3 last year 😂. And JA was about 50🤷🏻♂️🤓
