i had no idea the kids today aren't watching sports anymore.  is that a thing?

edit:  i looked it up and apparently it is!  i had no idea.

There is a pretty large research being done about Generation Z and their lack of interests in sports.

I think Generation Alpha will be even worse in terms of interest, with them growing up in the tiktok generation.  Very short attention spans.

During yesterday's game?  Because that's all this thread is about.

2nd and 18 in a critical time in 4th to keep them out of the end zone.  Edmunds with an atrocious play.  Rinse and repeat.

Dude is too finesse and not enough grit.  Everything is so methodical with him because he lacks instincts.

Yesterdays game was out of hand in terms of pace but with all of the long reviews added to the extra 30 seconds on all the TV breaks and the extra long halftime it was going to happen. It all added up to a loooong day.

The NFL knows there will be stoppages for replays and injuries.  In saying that, why take commercials when they don't have to then?  College basketball recently adjusted this, where if a timeout taken from a team comes close to the under 4:00 mark, that counts as the TV timeout.  They don't sit there and take another commercial timeout after teams took a break for the team timeout.

The 2nd half already started extremely late yesterday.  In the third quarter you had a stretch where it was 3 1 min possessions for each team, and 15 mins worth of commercials.

He missed a lot of plays too.  He's nowhere near worth the money he will command this offseason.

I just pray Beane sees it that way...he's a smart guy, so I have confidence he will.

    👍

I seen more missed plays than completed good plays.  People love to say he is so valuable because they just assume that his replacement is currently on the roster.  You can do better than Edmunds for much cheaper.

    Your getting old

Maybe, but teens these days have a way shorter attention span than the older generation, and in a general manner, are not into sports like the older generation, especially football where there are so many breaks.

If more people of my generation tune out the game, it's going to hurt because the younger generation just doesn't watch sports as much as other generations.

  6. The amount of commercials and the length of commercial breaks is so ridiculous at this point, it has killed the game.  An NFL game should never be 4 hours.  You are talking about 1 hour of clock time, and maybe 11 mins of actual game play.

The NFL knows there will be breaks for injuries and reviews, they should not be taking 5 mins commercials after a 1 min drive.  Over and over again, 1 min will come off the clock, and after a punt, there is 5 mins of commercials.

I rarely watch prime time NFL games because I hate all the stoppages.  On Sundays they have red zone and you pretty much avoid this nonsense.

It has become a chore to watch the Bills play exclusively, and at some point, it's just too boring to continue.

At least you have players making over 40 million a year.  Props to the NFL for continuing to increase the cash flow, while selling a worse product.

I really think McD was right about that.  The FG would have put us up by 13, with the idea being that we wouldn’t allow them two touchdowns.  Which, of course, we did.  I get the sequencing is such that we would have had the changes at the FG at the end of the game.  Whatever.  It is what it is.  I completely understand what he was thinking given that we didn’t generate too much pressure on Cousins and we were probably afraid to blitz given the lack of quality at safety and the fact that we had trouble corralling Jefferson all day.  It was the right call, maybe the wrong play call, and bad execution.

We would have been able to take a safety and them need a TD to win it.

A huge difference if a team needs a TD with 20 secs left instead of a FG.

  8. I feel you man.  I get no enjoyment from the Bills.  It's way to stressful.

I love college football because I have no allegiance to any team.  Just flip from game to game looking for the best one.

The covid 2020 was my favorite Bills year.  I want to relive that.  There seems to be too much "me" on this years team.  Team just doesn't seem as close.

Why not roll out Josh? If he's sure he can gain a yard or two, let him run. If he thinks he'll get sacked, throw the ball away.

Yeap, McDermott should have went to Josh before the series and said immediately roll to the right out of the pocket and if you have the opportunity to run, then do it, if not launch it as far as you can.  How many seconds would have came off it they did that three times.  Probably gets you down to 15 secs on 4th.  At that point to look into a safety.

It has been reported for a while now (but often swept under the rug) that McDermott has a bit of a dark side.

Remember when he lost his (bleep) and cussed out one of the reporters on the practice field because of a report he didn’t like? Or when he suspended Chris Brown (the biggest Bills homer on the planet) from the facility for multiple weeks because he said the wrong thing on the radio? And then there was the note in the Flores lawsuit that talked about how Daboll wanted out of Buffalo, even if it was NOT for a head coach job?

When you have that smoke, it becomes

implausible that there is no fire.

Good memory with the Daboll text messages.

This is a guy who was coaching his hometown team and would have left even without a HC job, pretty scary to think.

For who?  Not for LSU fans. Or USC fans (who they would play if the season ended today and top 2 seeds got a bye).  That would be a great game lol

The bottom line is bowl season is dying.  Players opt out. No one care about winning the Tostito Bowl anymore without a shot at the Natty.

You are infinitely better covnerting the top 8 bowls into the remaining playoff games.  You will get less kids opting out. They will be playing for something.

For the entire country.  One specific fan base <<<<<<<<<<< Entire College Football fanbase.

Kids will still opt out and the games will still be trash.  Every year there are only 4 teams that have a legit chance.  Everyone else is just fluff.

  12. 45 minutes ago, FireChans said:

This is the opposite takeaway. LSU would still have a chance of getting in, and they may deserve it for knocking off the top ranked team, despite their bad FSU loss week 1.

This year has made it extremely clear that OSU, Alabama, Clemson are not gonna just kill everyone else like they normally do. Georgia has been the only team that’s looked like that.

The parity in CFB is the most it’s been in like 10 years. I want TCU vs UT. I want Michigan vs USC.

LSU in a playoff doesn't drive the needle as an Alabama loss.  LSU getting in as an 8 will be a meaningless playoff game.
